I put Rosalind Franklin down for Temple station as she worked at King's College London and it's nearest to there.

PamDenick · 22/07/2020 18:18

Adele

Not sure which station

Nquartz · 22/07/2020 18:17

@growinggreyer

I didn't mention anything to do with her GC stance, just how inspiring her work is for children and the tourism she brings to KC.
Me too, seems a safer reason to give unfortunately
SheWhoMustNotBeHeard · 22/07/2020 18:17

Margot Fontayn for Covent Garden?

PamDenick · 22/07/2020 18:17

Barbara Hepworth

Pimlico

Ritascornershop · 22/07/2020 18:17

Dr Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, Whitechapel

PamDenick · 22/07/2020 18:16

Mary Whitehouse

Holborn or Tottenham Court Road

“We complained about her when she was alive but we sort of miss her now she’s gone.”

ShinyFootball · 22/07/2020 18:14

Also who is organising this?
I doubt any stations in city of London for example will be allowed to have any women (cunty) on their tube stations of city of London has anything to do with it.

Gingernaut · 22/07/2020 18:14

Elizabeth Garrett Anderson for DLR Shadwell

After qualifying as a doctor, she was initially allowed to become a visiting physician to the East London Hospital for Children on Glamis Road in Shadwell.

oscarandelliesdad · 22/07/2020 18:14

Done

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 22/07/2020 18:13

Right, done Martina Navratilova for Wimbledon now as well.

ShinyFootball · 22/07/2020 18:13

I was surprised that it was women and non binary then remembered women will include self ID

The bit that confuses me is that gender id is relatively new. How will they decide if people from history are non-men or men?

PamDenick · 22/07/2020 18:12

Margaret Thatcher

Whitehall

PamDenick · 22/07/2020 18:12

Phyllis Isobella Gross

(She walked the streets of London in order to create the A to Z)

South Ken (near the Royal Geographic society)

marplemead · 22/07/2020 18:11

Done.

IAmOptimusPrime · 22/07/2020 18:11

@Al1Langdownthecleghole

IamOptimus That's OK - can Mary Quant have the Kings road instead then?
Mary Quant is a great suggestion for Kings Road. I’m really enjoying this thread, so many amazing women.
Ritascornershop · 22/07/2020 18:09

Sorry, posted mid-sneeze! Magdalen for Camden Town.

Ritascornershop · 22/07/2020 18:08

Linda Bellos for Lambeth North
Magdalen Berns for Cambeth

maidmorion · 22/07/2020 18:04

If everyone suggested a non-binary person who happened to have a penis, and were non-binary, rather than a trans woman, would they be in the running?

Or are the committee genital fetishists?

Kelsoooo · 22/07/2020 18:03

Done. And will do Martina now

@Al1Langdownthecleghole

To add to the excellent suggestions so far. Ada Lovelace lived at Piccadilly terrace Marie Curie near the current hospice in Hampstead and I'm claiming Kings Road for Rosalind Franklin who died in Chelsea.
I put Rosalind Franklin down as Fulham Broadway as I thought it was closest to her address 🤦🏻‍♀️ Love your other suggestions too.
DialSquare · 22/07/2020 17:57

Done for both and also Dusty Springfield for West Hampstead.
