think Posie used to volunteer for or be a member of the Labour Party but left.

Yes, IIRC she said she reached her personal mountain summit in a Labour Party Facebook group a few years ago.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/05/2021 21:09

I prefer inclusive feminism, that is progressive, not regressive.

It depends who it is "inclusive" of, really. I don't consider the inclusion of males and male talking points benefits women, so I prefer my feminism to include women and girls, and if some males get upset about it, it's probably on the right track.

TheHandmadeTail · 23/05/2021 21:08

I think Posie used to volunteer for or be a member of the Labour Party but left. And possibly in the past used to consider herself a feminist but now doesn’t - though I may be misremembering that. I think a lot of us have considered our positions a lot since discovering this stuff.

Cuntysnark · 23/05/2021 20:13

I think one of the most charming things about her is that she won’t give a shiny shit what people think or say about her AND she’ll just keep on going. She’s fierce in a very pleasing way.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/05/2021 20:10

How do you get from the understanding that we are all male or female pigeon hole me back into subservience?

A question for the ages.

userzerozero · 23/05/2021 20:05

The funny bit is that SAHMs can talk about this topic without getting fired. The academics and corporates are walking on eggshells. Who is really under a thumb?

Furthermore, parental abdication of duties has led to a generation turning to the internet for education and validation.

celebgoss101 · 23/05/2021 20:05

Posie is great.

I don't need purity in my politics.

Floisme · 23/05/2021 19:26

I remember Datun observing once how Posie's appearance might be stereotypically feminine but her demeanour is anything but. That interview with Harrop for example - I'm sure most of us would have smiled at some point, even as a reflex, because the urge to be nice and to be liked is so strong. I think it's why Posie's opponents flail around so badly, trying to pigeon hole her, trying to land a blow but always missing.

OhHolyJesus · 23/05/2021 19:25

Are we talking about the same Posie here, being a Stepford wife...the one who says she doesn't cook (her husband does), doesn't clean, runs her own grassroots campaign, produces merchandise and runs a you tube channel, amongst other things?

I guess the definition of Stepford Wife must have changed since the invention of the term.

Erikrie · 23/05/2021 19:23

I expect he’s been removed from one type of register and placed onto another one entirely.

Without a doubt

VladimirCutiePutiPie · 23/05/2021 19:22

@Erikrie

Harrop made an absolute fool of himself. Where is Harrop now I wonder.

Harrop made an absolute fool of himself. Where is Harrop now I wonder.

Cleanandpress · 23/05/2021 19:10

Harrop demanded her subservience in that exchange on Sky, telling her she can't "appropriate" the word woman.

What a stereotype man he is.

Datun · 23/05/2021 19:05

Not my definition of equality, but if Stepford subservience works for you, it's a free world.

Ah, it's the hair again, isn't it. It's absolutely amazing how a spot of peroxide really gets under the skin of some people. Who knew?

And, er yeah, obvs, that's exactly what I always think when I look at Posie, hear her speak, watch her put up her posters, and listen to her interviews. I especially thought it when she was on the telly with Adrian Harrop. Ooh, that's the very definition of subservience, right there, I thought.

Erikrie · 23/05/2021 18:56

Posies great. All the haters here who can't bear the fact she stands for women. And more and more people listening every day. That house of cards is tumbling down. With the bitter wailing of the activists who know that their dreams of destroying women's rights are over.

Justhadathought · 23/05/2021 18:55

Just watching that video of the confrontation between Posie and the BLM crowd. It seems that the main women confronting Posie had no idea about the impact of transwomen and girls on women's sports in the U.S,A.

Justhadathought · 23/05/2021 18:49

It's interesting that some people want to portray Posie as 'subservient' and a 'Stepford wife'. I'm going to assume this is based largely on her appearance because it certainly isn't her personality

Yes, she dresses and presents as she pleases, clearly. Quite a strong look. She knows what she likes.

Justhadathought · 23/05/2021 18:45

Not my definition of equality, but if Stepford subservience works for you, it's a free world

Posie never looks, or sounds, at all subservient to me.

OvaHere · 23/05/2021 18:44

It's interesting that some people want to portray Posie as 'subservient' and a 'Stepford wife'. I'm going to assume this is based largely on her appearance because it certainly isn't her personality.

I'm also going to assume her husband does his bit looking after the kids/household whilst she's busy organising protests, getting arrested, travelling the country (and abroad) as well as running her org. Not very Stepford wifey to my mind - she must miss a lot of supper times!

I accept her way of doing things doesn't appeal to everyone but campaigning against the loss of women's language, women's spaces and harms done to children covers a very broad demographic.

People we don't like and disagree with on other political matters have the right to a) know about and b) be pissed off with this stuff just as much as people who are staunchly left leaning or who prefer the politer approach of someone like Prof Stock. As noted above she will reach an audience that others don't.

She has flaws as anyone does but I admire her directness and refusal to used proscribed or 'acceptable' language and framing. After all that's a big part of why women are in the mess we're in. I used to be more critical of her myself a few years back but I'm well beyond giving a stuff about always being 'nice' these days.

VladimirCutiePutiPie · 23/05/2021 18:33

Mishy Please define “inclusive feminism”. Does it include men?

Cleanandpress · 23/05/2021 18:00

Any news from Mishy on how single sex changing rooms make women subservient?

Nothing? I thought you could explain easily as you are so certain?

NonnyMouse1337 · 23/05/2021 17:55

Posie is cool. It takes all kinds of abilities and styles in any kind of campaigning. She's come up with some great ideas and tends to speak her mind, so naturally that isn't going to gel well with everyone. She's a strong personality and that's going to clash with other prominent women who have strong personalities too.

She's been clear that she's not a feminist. The vast majority of women in the UK don't consider themselves to be feminist either. People always seem to forget this crucial fact.

It's good to see women from all backgrounds and viewpoints do what they can to protect women's rights. She cares enough to get off her arse and do something about it, and she's in a position to be able to be open about her activities along with a thick skin against the flak.

OhHolyJesus · 23/05/2021 17:47

Shes just anti trans

Ah here we go again.

She's anti-Self ID, against the removal or language to describe women (hence her successful campaign) and is pro-women and girls.

The wilful misrepresentation is getting a bit boring tbh.

Cleanandpress · 23/05/2021 17:38

For everyone that she introduces to this cause, she puts another one off.

So people are put off single sex hospital wards?

Branleuse · 23/05/2021 17:32

Posie is openly not a feminist or gender critical. Shes just anti trans and pals up with the conservative religious right in america. Supported Trump, voted tory etc. Has made several fairly racist comments.
As much as she makes some good points at times, and i appreciate how vocal she has been at her own expense, I just cant get behind her. I used to think she was brilliant but so many GC RFs have moved to the right and have become so single issue that it makes me feel a bit sick. I had to unfollow loads of GC stuff because of it and become much less involved.
For everyone that she introduces to this cause, she puts another one off.
