Oh zinco beat me to it

And ive not been on this thread as i really don’t have an opinion on posie parker

But im tired of the ‘oh there is evidence...i just can’t be bothered to show you’ that keeps happening on these threads

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 24/05/2021 16:29

Ive just found something on twitter tallwhitepine

She said that on the issue she cares about....then trump is her man

Its the stopped clock thing again

Agree with someone on ONE thing, and thats it.....you are a massive supporter of that person

Zinco · 24/05/2021 16:17

So I came across...

Posie Parker is a Crybaby for Trump

It doesn't contain any evidence of Posie really being a "Trump supporter" but apparently she is willing to admit that there are certain good things about him. That doesn't have to mean much of course, as you could detest a politician, and still think they had a couple of good policies.

Anyway, if you like completely obnoxious self-righteous far-left commentary, (think Owen Jones turned up to "11"), then the above video is brilliant commentary on Posie Parker.

Floisme · 24/05/2021 16:11

Speaking as someone who's also been called a Trump supporter and who isn't even high profile like Posie is, I don't think 'there's a video somewhere but I cba looking' is good enough.

womanity · 24/05/2021 16:09

Iirc, and there’s no guarantee I do, the Posie supports trump thing was her pointing out that Biden was going to be very anti-women’s rights.

Branleuse · 24/05/2021 16:06

@Wrongsideofhistorymyarse

They just switch off and distance themselves from that faction as they dont want to be lumped in with racists and anti-abortionists.

Evidence of PP's alleged racism and anti-abortion thoughts? TVM.

I dont think Posie is anti abortion, but the reblican religious right in america that she was quite close to (for tactical reasons) are, and caroline Farrow, that I kept seeing on a lot of her stuff.
Branleuse · 24/05/2021 16:04

@Tallwhitepine

Can someone please provide a link to Posie supporting Trump? There's more than one person claiming this. Surely someone has receipts.
there was a video at the time. Im sure its still up there somewhere. Could have even been posted here. Google Posie Parker Trump and youll probably find it. Ive seen it, but I cba to go searching again or watching through her videos

Stealhsquirrelnutkin

Great post!
Back in 2018, when I first became aware of all this, the first videos I watched were Posie or the late Magdalene Berns.
They wer both strong and both spoke very well. They were unwavering.
All this stuff about Trump/Extreme right wing is just infantile.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 24/05/2021 15:51

I think Trump supporter might be the new ‘nazi’

It’s nearly as bad as ‘white woman’

Floisme · 24/05/2021 15:30

Mind you I've been called a Trump supporter on here too - the bar isn't exactly high Grin

I'm curious about this too. I follow several lefty GC feminists who I'd have thought would have been all over it if Posie had declared her support for Trump.

Posie gets praised for what she does. She's one of the most significant contributors in terms of actual action to this fight. She is incredibly effective as an advocate for women, and in conciousness-raising.

Given the success of her actions, a lot of people's response to anything about her views is "I don't care". It's blindingly obvious that her alleged views are brought up only in an attempt to make her less effective in action.

Then you start off on the second-order meta debate about whether people should care that other people don't care, or whether other people are right or wrong for telling other people they should or shouldn't care, and should people care about that, etc, ad infinitum.

All rather pointless...

Branleuse · 24/05/2021 14:56

@Justhadathought

They do expect her not to work with or support the extreme right-wing and not to be racist. Both things she struggles with

Unfound accusations.

Political nuance and the possibility for cross party/faction support is lost on many these days; when you are either 100% with us on everything, or you are 100% against us.

When people rely on such total conformity and the politics of narrow factionalism it blunts the capacity for independent thought and judgement

unfounded? Ive seen it with my own eyes when I had her on facebook. She can think what she wants. Im not one of the ones trying to stop her. Just get fed up with the fawning on here sometimes. Its fine if she doesnt identify as feminist. That much is clear from cosying up to people like Caroline Farrow and supporting people like Trump and trying to find common ground on the trans issue with some really questionable people. Its been too many now. She may deny being a feminist when questioned on it, but she seems to be a darling of some people who I always used to think were radfems, and yet the ones who are not onside (julie bindel for one) are being told its outrageous to speak what THEY think of it all, or to talk to someone that PP doesnt like?
Justhadathought · 24/05/2021 14:23

Right wing can simply imply being socially conservative; or believing in the idea of individual responsibility and choice in life; rather than always falling back on class or group identity ; in which people tend to be viewed as a necessary victim of their defining social or physical/biological characteristics.

Furthermore, if you are assigned a group identity, then you are not meant to step outside of it.

For all the Left's talk of equality for women, it the a socially conservative party that has elected two female leaders - and neither elected on the basis of women only short-lists. It also would not surprise me at all if the first black or Asian leader of a British political party turns out to be a conservative party member, not a Labour one.

Erikrie · 24/05/2021 13:59

if you are happy to support a white women

Yes I am happy to support a white woman.

who is racist

She's not racist.

and right-wing

I don't care if she's right wing.

womanity · 24/05/2021 13:53

I don’t think being ‘right wing’ is the gotcha people think it is either - there’s a reason people keep voting for Tory governments...

Justhadathought · 24/05/2021 13:44

Justhadathought · 24/05/2021 13:39

I am not saying women here should do anything. But if you are happy to support a white women who is racist and right-wing just because she understands biological sex, that is up to you

most of us are politically mature enough to know that we don't have to sign up to anyone's fan club to agree with them on certain issues.

I wouldn't support a black woman who was being racist, either; though am certainly unsure on what basis you are making this accusation, anyway? Disagreeing with you on certain issues, maybe?

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 24/05/2021 13:37

if you are happy to support a white women who is racist and right-wing

weird way to put it. why is the colour of her skin important? is it possible that you're a little bit racist @astery ?

Justhadathought · 24/05/2021 13:35

I think Posie used to volunteer for or be a member of the Labour Party but left. And possibly in the past used to consider herself a feminist but now doesn’t - though I may be misremembering that. I think a lot of us have considered our positions a lot since discovering this stuff

Yes, many of us did used to be in the Labour party; and now, further down the line no longer even 'identify as' feminists. Personally sick to the back teeth of identity politics. When you 'identify as' something, it tends to come with a rule book on how to present; how behave; how to speak; what to think..... etc etc.

Justhadathought · 24/05/2021 13:32

There has been a tradition of women on the right-wing in England who look very feminine but are tough

Look, most of us here have been very actively involved in left politics for a long time; so when accusations of 'racism' and being 'right wing' start flying it really is just annoying water off a duck's back.

When so-called progressives can only resort to such facile accusations there is no longer any debate to be had. Most of the time those calling out the 'right wing' are actually referring to other people in the Labour party. That is how completely ridiculous and meaningless these tropes have become.

This is the Owen jones school of political debate. Any hint of disagreement brings out the name calling and dismissive accusations. That bloke needs to grow up; he's almost 40.

ShagMeRiggins · 24/05/2021 13:00

Having watched the clip of Posie and the BLM supporter—and all the others chiming in—I couldn’t help but think cups of tea all around would have helped defuse the situation. And some nice ground sheets where they could have paired off for a one-to-one conversation.

I might start an Opposing Ideologies Social Group in our village hall with just such a set up. Probably with biscuits.
