@Tatatan

I heard Kellie say that she fell out with WPUK. Anyone know when and why and what happened?
2018 summer, before the Let a woman speak meeting in Truro.

MishyJDI · 08/02/2021 10:26

@lady69

Kellie has never said she is a feminist. She simply fights for women’s rights. So prominent feminist on about “no true feminists” and getting sanctimonious and caught up in purity spirals may as well give it up. She doesn’t care about all that navel gazing crap. She just wants women and girls to be safe. Anyone clutching their pearls over her style of activism seem to me to be plain old jealous of her success quite honestly; this upstart housewife from Wiltshire stealing all their mighty academic learned thunder and being pretty and glam too! How very dare she.
It would be helpful though if she didn't encourage men to "carry" guns into women's toilets to protect the space. That kind of publicity we could do without, and suggesting violence is not a winning strategy.

@DJLippy

That speech where he spoke for 5x longer than all the other women about how he has learned he had to deal with his subconscious misogony Hmm
yes, that one, he was funny, and I want to send it to someone who commented on - he is not in the 40-min video at top of this thread (which has Maria Mac at 20:35)

Has anyone got a link to the YouTube of Mr Menno's Maiden Speech at Posie Parker's Speakers Corner events? I think there were two. 19 July 2020 and another one.

TheRattleBag · 19/09/2020 20:12

Is anyone going to Leeds tomorrow?

DidoLamenting · 11/09/2020 23:29

@Escapeplanning

You might want to question why the phrase which is actually racist sprung to mind.

Nope.

Your choice- but it seems to me slightly odd that what was uppermost in your mind was a very different and racist phrase.
Escapeplanning · 09/09/2020 20:33

DidoLamenting · 09/09/2020 19:58

@Escapeplanning

But the issue that concerns me most is that the fallout from this affects all. When Posie does things like this it creates a convenient stick for the TRAs to beat us publicly with - and we're all tarred with the same brush.

What about your use of a racist old trope like "tar brush"? Are you able to do that whilst criticising others?

You are thinking of a completely different phrase. You might want to question why the phrase which is actually racist sprung to mind.
jhuizinga · 09/09/2020 19:19

Tarred with the same brush apparently is how shepherds once marked their sheep. I don't think there is anything particularly racist about the phrase.

LangClegTheBeardedVulture · 08/09/2020 23:45

OH NOES Pink News doesn’t like her or us!

MillyMollyFarmer · 08/09/2020 22:24

and we're all tarred with the same brush

Honestly I find this so childish and unintelligent. Anyone tarring me with anything before knowing my own independent opinion is not someone I should really invest any thought in. Certainly not in their opinion of me or Posie, who is fucking brilliant if you ask me- bearing in mind nobody is perfect. Tar away morons, I care not.

BatShite · 08/09/2020 21:50

Maybe should have said on that post that I absolutely AM a feminist. But I don't care for all the 'omg X has an opinion I don't like, expell her!' stuff. I find it all schoolyard bullshit tbh, especially when talking about a topic that affects literally all women.

BatShite · 08/09/2020 21:48

The opinion of pink news is less than irrelevant. Not pissing them off would be more worrying.

True Grin

Also from what I understand, Posie came to the topic more from a 'freedom of speech' angle than a 'feminist' one? Yes she seems to care deeply for the rights of women and children, but I don't think shes into all the purity spiral nonsense that seems to be a huge part of much mainstream feminism these days.

Quillink · 08/09/2020 13:12

Posie doesn't give a fuck about how her actions affect the perception of the feminist movement, though.

She says herself that she is no longer a feminist. Even if she were, it would be no reason to self censor IMO.

I'm talking about analysis not allegiance.

But why is political analysis even necessary here? It's quite simple, surely? Either women are adult human females and girls are juvenile human females or they're not. Policy flows from that.

DianasLasso · 08/09/2020 10:37

Prick "News" [sic] is not signed up to IPSO, has no independent scrutiny, no external pressure to adhere to normal journalistic standards and offers no right of reply to people who feel (usually correctly) that their views have been misrepresented.

It is best thought of as a somewhat ranty personal blog run by a special interest group. In fact, I'd suggest the strapline "By dicks, for dicks."

It is a complete irrelevance whether they condone or condemn an individual's views.

Escapeplanning · 08/09/2020 09:57

Pink News makes us all look bad?.

If you are going to say shit like this then keep your "us" to yourself

BovaryX · 08/09/2020 09:40

@Escapeplanning

Who is this "us" you claim to be speaking for?
Good question. The 'crimes of adjacency' charge is beyond tedious. But it is always invoked for Posey Parker. I guess that is indicative of her success in exposing this lobby's methods and agenda.
ArabellaScott · 08/09/2020 09:31

This.

Clymene · 08/09/2020 08:09

It doesn't matter what any of us do or don't do, they will smear us anyway. Just talking to Baroness Nicholson gets you labelled as Tory scum.

Datun · 08/09/2020 03:55

Articles like this, for example, make us all look bad.

They really don't. The opinion of pink news is less than irrelevant. Not pissing them off would be more worrying.

Antibles · 08/09/2020 00:46

Passionate and brave women in that video! Star
