Is anyone else feeling a real dislike for the entertainment community?

I find the absolute arrogance appalling. Not only the whole attitude of moral rightness but the Bristol statue was a case in point. A sculpture thought he had the right to come along and put up a statue without any consultation. so arrogant

I have to say, though, Ricky Gervais looks like he might be teetering. Probably just waiting for the Emmys then I reckon he will be all guns blazing....

She apologised, she grovelled and these are the most recent tweets :

Shes clearly been told that she wont work again

I didn't know who she was, so I googled. All that comes up in the news is stories about the threats she's received (baseball bats/barbed wire).

There are certainly situations where I would be compelled to chant TWAW, put it that way. I hope that the threats have been investigated and taken seriously by police. And I hope she has plenty of support around her.

And the sad thing is, it'll never be enough. She can abase herself all she likes but she'll still be a filthy TERF to them.

Look at the Guardian - TRAs cursing it for promoting transphobia for printing one Suzanne Moore column and one 'er, maybe we should talk about this' editorial amid a slew of unquestioning woke allyship.

Much like coercive control and psychological abuse.

I fully support her but I know why she gave in.

When will this end... I will fully support her in anyway I can but can't help feeling so frustrated and impotent.

It's really worrying. I seem to remember that she left Twitter before because she retweeted something mildly gc (maybe in support of Maya?), received torrents of abuse and then just left. It's reminiscent of all those people re-educated under Chairman Mao. Chilling.

She's reasonably well-known - was in Sherlock and a few other things. Used to live with Martin Freeman.

I really feel for her too. She seems like such a good egg. Her statement upthead sounds completely reasonable and sensible to me. Shes clearly been told that she wont work again unless full retraction, re-education blah blah..... I hope she can hang in there until the madness passes

Both Alison Moyet & Rob Webb did speak out and then appear to capitulate.

Alison sent an "apology" and Rob I think just deleted a tweet, and then kept quiet for a bit - but he has been very ill.

I would say that neither has actually changed their viewpoint, judging from their recent tweeting.

Of course you can have a penis and want to be referred to as a woman. The fact that that's true has been the basis of quite some discussion

She's dabbled over the past couple of years, a little like Robert Webb maybe.

Adding 'hostage post' to my glossary of new terms learnt here. This place is where everyone needs to come to be educated rather than threatened. 👍

So, when sent threatening images of barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bats - presumably with graphic instructions about where they will be inserted - the correct protocol is to publically grovel and promise to educate yourself?

This gets more and more like the 'cultural revolution' that set China back for decades.

I saw her post, and have sent her support on twitter. I love Amanda, I think she's an intelligent, lovely woman. She just doesn't believe a penis can be female, so apparently that means she must be hounded off social media and cancelled.

That "hostage post" (as I've seen it called on twitter) is no doubt because her agent, or someone like that, has told her she won't get work again unless she apologises for (factually and scientifically correct) views.

I really feel for AA - she’s made a few tentative gender-crit comments over the years, but has retreated sharply each time after receiving abuse.

As a woman reliant on receiving repeat employment in a profession that veers heavily towards wokeness, she’s not in a position to speak as freely as JKR. I suspect she’s very frustrated by the inability to speak her truth.

Amanda, on the off-chance that you’re a MN-er, you’re not alone, and I’m sorry that you’re being gagged.
