Woman accessed child abuse images from hospital bed

Haven't seen a thread on this.

Julie Marshall looked at some of her 80,000 child abuse images while recovering from a heart attack. Presumably on a women's or mixed ward.

Julie Marshall admitted three counts of making indecent images of children. 677 of the images downloaded were of the category A, most serious, type.

I put a complaint in to the BBC about their factually incorrect reporting. Everyone in the NW knows what's what here.

RhapsodyandAshe · 17/07/2020 21:52

This is really beyond the pale. Just sickening that one of the main news sources for British people and also for people around the world, would print an article based purely on a central lie. A complete denial of reality.
How can this actually be happening?

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2020 21:50

Because everyone has bought into the "people are what they say they are" shite. It's gone too far to argue with facts like the law. It's become self-confirming.

Clymene · 17/07/2020 21:48

Also this man does not have a GRC. He is legally male. We do not have self ID in this country so how the hell did we get to a place where the judiciary use preferred pronouns for a fucking paedophile?

Clymene · 17/07/2020 21:46

Frances Crook (CEO of the Howard League for Penal Reform) tweeted that she thought it was important that sex not gender is reported in crimes.

Quite a few people were incensed by her stance and called her transphobic. They believe it's more important for a prolific paedophile to have his pronouns recognised than it is to record the truth. That's how morally deficient transactivists have become.

TornadoOfSouls · 17/07/2020 21:41

Justhadathought yes, and in a way it underlines the fragility of the whole idea - if you think about the type of person who has the surgery, maybe passes sometimes, maybe not, but generally behaves like a ‘normal person’ (for want of a better phrase), it’s easier to think ‘well, it seems meaningless/a lot of hassle to me but it makes them able to live their life more fully and they’re not harming anyone, so okay’. The TRA type draws attention to the illogicality and meaninglessness of it. What is ‘living as a woman’ except, really, dressing up as one? Which is silly because women can dress how they like. And the whole thing becomes more and more ridiculous. Because nobody actually believes that people can change sex.

@Justhadathought

I imagine actual trans women are as horrified by this as women are

I guess the whole point is , what is an 'actual' trans woman. We hear de-transitioners being told that they "can't really have been trans" after all......And with the prospect of Self ID , who is to know, or to judge?

To me, and to most GC people 'being trans' is not a material reality, but an identity, a feeling...most often resulting from dysphoria. and when it comes to 'feelings' who is to judge?

Trans should refer just to transitioning women (ie those who are waiting for surgery to become a woman and who may be living life as a woman in the meantime). It doesn’t (and should never have) refer to pedos who ‘come out’ after getting caught with child pornography
Kit19 · 17/07/2020 21:29

You would think anicebag but there’s nowt but crickets from TRA when this happens shortly followed by ‘how dare you tarnish us with the same brush as them - no trutrans’

The stupid thing is reporting male pattern crimes as being perpetrated by a woman makes everyone look because it's so unusual.

And when you look, you see.

If they'd said man I wouldn't even have clicked because it's so depressingly common. So I can see how this benefits the BBC in terms of clicks. I'm not sure drawing attention to every crime committed by a transwoman (which is what this approach does) is that great for trans people.

anicebag · 17/07/2020 21:21

You’d thinking eliminating this type of outrage is a campaign the trans lobby would happily join forces with feminists on? There can and could be a way of managing this so that if sexual offending/ violent crime is committed then the perpetrator doesn’t access female jails (whilst we still have them).

Iamhangingin · 17/07/2020 21:19

I've written to the BBC to question the accuracy of their report.

LittleDonk · 17/07/2020 21:15

Dear BBC

That's not a woman, it's a MALE PAEDOPHILE.

From,

Biology, fact, science, logic etc etc

GrumpyHoonMain · 17/07/2020 21:13

Anyone post the link on Reddit yet?

Justhadathought · 17/07/2020 20:59

Julie Marshall

Woman accessed child abuse images from hospital bed
StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2020 20:57

What a sickening crime.
When they say she made images as well what do they mean?

cosycatsocks · 17/07/2020 20:53

It is not kind to lie. Kindness does not mean avoid hurting anyones (mens) feelings at all costs.

The BBC remains deeply misogynistic. You would think they'd be a bit more careful after the pay scandal exposed their institutional sexism.

bumblenbean · 17/07/2020 20:33

Utterly absurd. It doesn’t even specify that ‘she’ was born male, a rather crucial piece of information.

Not that anyone with functioning eyesight would mistake that vile specimen for a woman ...

As someone else suggested, this is not only an insult to women but surely also to genuine trans women who would not want to be in any way associated with this kind of hiding behind a female identity.

The headline seems rather click- baity to me. Why not ‘paedophile accessed images from hospital bed...?’ Why state woman?

ThePurported · 17/07/2020 20:33

Why would the want to be in the same camp as this paedophile? Shouldn't they want to have the medical reports and the panel assess their GRC applications to ensure they are not like this paedophile?

I don't think paedophiles are automatically disqualified?
There was the case of that prisoner who sued the govt when he was denied surgery (and GRC, as I understand it). You can read the judgment here
www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/Admin/2019/3565.html

The doctors' comments are... interesting.

"Dr Barrett wrote:
"In terms of assessment, it was always difficult to assess prisoners particularly those with sexual offences as there are a variety of motivations behind seeking a social change of gender role in prison, quite apart from the straightforward one of a gender identity disorder. In this case this patient clearly has paraphilia as well and the connection between this and the gender identity disorder, although strongly made by the patient, it isn't something which is seen in the majority of other patients, certainly not in terms of convictions or by their report. I think that this patient is keen for things to move forward but I wouldn't wish to do so until we have had, certainly our customary second part of our usual two-part assessment, but probably also a panel meeting as well as seems usually to be the case with patients who are in prison."
In September 2012 the Claimant saw Dr Stewart Lorimer, Consultant Psychiatrist at the Clinic specialising in the treatment of gender dysphoria. Following that consultation Dr Lorimer wrote on 24 September 2012:
"I reflected that it was not unheard of for male to female transitioners to have masochistic fantasies, but that they tended to involve imagining themselves as adult females rather than children. [The Claimant] found it difficult to say for sure why his sexual fantasies were different."
Dr Lorimer expressed his opinion in the following terms:
"On the basis of this assessment of the previous correspondence available to me, I would agree that there is perhaps an element of gender dysphoria in [the Claimant's] account of growing up and identifying with female peers. He also maintains the cross-dressing did not include an erotic component. As my colleague Dr Barrett points out however, paraphilia seems also to be present, and I think it is by no means straightforward teasing out the gender identity factors from a sort of fetishization of pre-teen girlhood and a degree of sexual masochism."
For reasons that are not entirely clear the Claimant's case was not further considered until she was seen again by Dr Lorimer at the Clinic on 2 April 2015. The Claimant told Dr Lorimer that she would like to start hormone treatment. In his letter dated 7 May 2015 Dr Lorimer wrote:
"I'm weakly supportive of [the Claimant] starting on hormones but I would wish to have the support of my colleagues, including perhaps one further opinion."
Dr Lorimer copied his letter to Dr Barrett.
On 17 August 2015 Dr Barrett saw the Claimant. In a letter dated 2 October 2015 Dr Barrett wrote:
"... This patient next has a parole review in 2017 having had one in January this year and interestingly reports that she wasn't requesting release or a move to a category D prison as she has a considerable amount of anxiety about being released from prison and in some senses feels that she is at least in a stable circumstance where she is at the moment.
… From our point of view the thing that matters most now is whether this patient can sustain a female role in an environment other than prison."

The main concern was whether this paedophile could 'sustain a female role', whatever that means!

thehumanformerlyknownasfemale · 17/07/2020 20:25

Women eh? What will they get up to next- amirite??!!

I know! Hark at all these nasty, unkind women moaning about men invading their spaces, when they're getting just as bad as the men they're moaning about. Tut tut.

That's where this is going to go. I'd bet my fucking money on it.

Pudmyboy · 17/07/2020 20:21

(I mean UncleShady's Spectator article from first page)

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 17/07/2020 20:18

A shame HE didn't die of said heart attack. Maybe next time fingers crossed . HE is a revolting pedophile. Seahorses are not horses.

Pudmyboy · 17/07/2020 20:18

The Spectator article seemed to say it would be recorded as a male crime, thankfully, and I liked that the Lancashire Post gives the most accurate description first: 'Pervert'!
