Has this been posted already? It's from an email they sent. I saw it on Twitter so I'll be back with links.

If they think the issues are too complex for them maybe they should just ask some of the recipients of their aid to explain it to them using very small words.

DickKerrLadies · 20/07/2020 12:54

@Beamur

Biological sex is the root of a lot of gender dysphoria, so maybe they should specify how they believe trans people can exist, first? This. If there's no biological sex then there's no trans either.
It's just another example of the doublethink, isn't it?

These are complex issues..

Are they though? Hmm

Fucking idiots.

fascinated · 20/07/2020 09:17

Is there any way of making sure the trustees connect all these cancellations with the trans issue? You’d like to think the link is obvious, but....

SerenityNowwwww · 20/07/2020 09:17

When will they learn they are being played?

RapidComestibleExecutive · 20/07/2020 09:12

20 years, 4 different children sponsored, and now this.

Direct debit cancelled and email sent explaining why.

Badly done, ActionAid.

bishopgiggles · 20/07/2020 08:50

I can't tell from that statement whether they believe that biological sex exists or not? I mean, it sounds like they do, otherwise what is the difference between sex and gender, but that would mean they were lying previously and are not mentioning or acknowledging that?

Why does a trans inclusion policy have anything to do with whether biological sex exists? Biological sex is the root of a lot of gender dysphoria, so maybe they should specify how they believe trans people can exist, first?

SerenityNowwwww · 20/07/2020 07:58

So they probably won’t mention it again?

YoBeaches · 20/07/2020 07:48

I can't see if this has been posted here apologies if so

www.actionaid.org.uk/latest-news/actionaid-uk-trustees-statement-on-trans-inclusion

We recognise the specific discrimination that trans women and girls face. ActionAid UK also believes that both sex- and gender-based discrimination are deeply embedded in the patriarchal structures operating in the countries ActionAid works in.
We take the topic of inclusion very seriously; however, trustees have not yet had the opportunity to discuss a trans inclusion policy in relation to the organisation’s charitable mission working with women and girls in the world’s poorest countries.
Trustees are committed to doing so. These are complex issues that require consideration and consultation with our stakeholders and rights-holders.
ActionAid is committed to being an inclusive organisation for everyone and we are working with our staff, stakeholders and rights-holders to develop clear policies that recognise the rights and needs of everyone.
We do not believe this can be done with the respect it deserves over social media.

littlbrowndog · 19/07/2020 23:33

No backbones or thought in any of these charities

SerenityNowwwww · 19/07/2020 23:06

So I see that mencap has gone full pride flag+++ on their twitter icon. That’s interesting.

Apileofballyhoo · 19/07/2020 22:58

Agree Serenity - a huge amount of money on nonsense that could be used to actually support transgender people instead

OP posts:
ChakaDakotaRegina · 19/07/2020 22:53

So...Women are low status and their pesky safeguarding should to be ignored and gay people can be safely converted to trans people to appease the religious types that are against gay relationships.

Corporate backed misogyny.
Charity promoted negligence.
Modern day homophobia.

littlbrowndog · 19/07/2020 22:27

Sums it up,this

Action Aid - no such thing as a biological female
SerenityNowwwww · 19/07/2020 21:19

But all the money poured into trans rights - is there anyone setting up charities to set up separate facilities, or centres, health facilities (for their unique post-op needs), research into long term effects of drugs...

No- they seem to spend the money elsewhere.

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 19/07/2020 21:14

@EmpressLangClegSpartacus

The problem seems to be with the UK based PR and fundraising types who know nothing of the real work their own organisation does and just want to please the woke crowd.

In which case the UK based PR and fundraising types are fucking their own organisation over for the sake of ideological virtue signalling.

I'm a fiver at another large UK charity that has been Stonewalled.

Thankfully this bullshit hasn't seeped into our fundraising, but it's poisoning things from behind the scenes.

SerenityNowwwww · 19/07/2020 21:07

I think they may have locked their comments on twitter. Funny that.

JollyAndBright · 19/07/2020 19:39

Well that’s my monthly direct debit to them cancelled.

I’ll be sure to email them to tell them why.

JamieLeeCurtains · 19/07/2020 19:33

These NGOs and charities could tick the trans inclusion box just fine and dandy by saying, 'You know what, we definitely want to include trans boys and women particularly in countries like Afghanistan and Albania, where girls and women present or are presented by their families as boys and men, and really explore the reasons for this in all these different cultural contexts. And, from there, explore whether terms like 'trans' have any useful historical and social meanings in these different local contexts, rather than 'trans' being the latest western colonial fad inflicted by our employees on the relatively powerless via a potentially ignorant misappropriation of poorly understood anthropological tropes.'

I live in hope.

Diptheria23 · 19/07/2020 17:31

Virtue signalling, avoiding the abuse from certain quarters that would come if they insisted on a straightforward definition of biological sex, and collecting funding from sponsor organisations who require them to tick the "trans inclusion" box. In current times, it is safer for any organisation - NGOs, schools, hospitals, media - to be seen as anti-female than risk being seen as anti-trans. We need to change that
cost/benefit calculation.

Diptheria23 · 19/07/2020 16:55

@Standardy

The UK has a long history over the past few centuries of sending over privileged and crassly insensitive and superior people to the developing world to lecture them on their backward ideas and to drag them into the proper faiths

Yep, this. We aren't the only country guilty of it, but it needs to stop.

Actually, looking at their website, I would say the Actionaid people working overseas (most of them locals) tackling FGM, sex selective abortion, rape as a weapon of war etc know perfectly well that biological sex is real. The problem seems to be with the UK based PR and fundraising types who know nothing of the real work their own organisation does and just want to please the woke crowd.
DanceWithYourBalloon · 19/07/2020 08:53

People as far as I'm concerned can identify however they like and feel safe and accepted doing it BUT you just can't deny biology! I'm sorry but to deny a scientific fact that has kept the human race replicating for millennia is up there with Flat Earthers!

AnotherLass · 19/07/2020 00:04

I wonder honestly how long it will be before developing world people get forced to sit through first world white organisation lectures about gender ideology and the non existence of biology before being allowed to get the services/resources those organisations provide

I'd place bets that this is happening. Aid workers always spread their ideology. And gender ID ideology is spreading from the English speaking world, it's already been used to silence Indian feminists, and it's huge in Brazil

One of the worrying things is how much it may be used to further homophobia. I'm sure that these charities are working in a lot of countries which are intensely homophobic, and would be pretty open to the ideology that gay people are actually souls trapped in the wrong body

I'd really want to know how Action Aid is using this ideology on the ground. But honestly, I bet all of the charities are at it, now it is the fashionable ideology
