Sports Illustrated first transgender swimsuit model

Sports Illustrated are publicising their first transgender (MtF) model. The male followers of sports illustrated are unhappy, are clearly saying they wouldn’t see this model as a partner, and are making lots of misgendering comments. However these posters don’t seem to be getting the aggressive sexualised comments that women who comment on trans issues get, and no threats of fixing or cancelling.
Wonder why that is?

@Quillink

I read the model as male. Something about the jawline and wide underarm tendons.
And Adam’s apple? Grin

Also I couldn't give a fuck about the transphobic disappointment of men and their boners, they don't stick up for women and girls so they can enjoy the new world order.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/07/2020 01:01

Valentina is very attractive but also clearly male. I imagine without photo editing Valentina would be even more obviously male.

Aesopfable · 11/07/2020 00:53

@OvaHere

Valentina is attractive looking - pretty even, but no more than for example, a young Zac Efron (minus lip fillers).

Valentina is only 23, it's going to be a battle to constantly maintain feminine features as they get older.

I can't get too worked up at who poses for men's magazines. If men feel it's a boundary issue for them I guess they can vote with their wallet.

Being generous to Valentina they seem proud of who they are and aren't trying to deceive anyone by 'stealth'. Also as a TW from Brazil no doubt Valentina is part of the demographic who are at huge risk from becoming casualties of dangerous sex work. This is undoubtedly a better path for them.

That photo struck me as a male physique. Not sure why. Looking more closely they mostly seem feminine but then I will glance again and it strikes me a masculine. Can’t quite put my finger on why, I presume it must be the proportions...
Aesopfable · 11/07/2020 00:45

Aren’t all magazines shots airbrushed these days? ‘Rescuplting’ bodies, reshaping faces, lengthening legs, changing hair, making eyes just a bit bigger...

@highame
Sorry my post has delayed your slumber, was amazed it hadn’t been posted already (I looked), it’s a gem alright.Grin

It's strange looking at the comments. I hope to God this is being archived somewhere to point out the blatant sexism when it's no doubt being denied.

I saw a couple of gifs of people projectile vomiting, which there's no need for. Actual transphobia, I'd say? Not a fucking threat in sight.

Instead, someone kindly explains to the manz that, whilst only 2 sexes may have existed when the poster- whose age is unconfirmed - was being taught in school, this is an antiquated view, as the world has now moved on, and actual research has shown that us dinosaurs were just all taught phony science.

Trans or not, looking at some other photos Valentina doesn’t look a healthy weight at all in some, far too skinny. Is that pressure from the modelling world, or part of the self requirement to maintain the female model phenotype? Either way it doesn’t look healthy at all. I hope Valentina’s health isn’t at risk.

highame · 11/07/2020 00:15

Well, I was ready for bed but just decided to have a look at the link. I was laughing so much at the comments from all the blokes that I've had to wait to calm down AIBU 😂🤣

Wbeezer · 11/07/2020 00:06

I dont think i would have clocked her as trans on a quick look but if you'd asked me to guess which of the "rookies" was trans I would have picked her.

PermanentTemporary · 11/07/2020 00:03

What Greebo and Floral said.

Good luck to this person in their career. All models try to develop a USP that will make them more bookable than the next pretty person.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 10/07/2020 23:59

4. I would happily cede all anti women Playboy, Victoria's Secret, Miss World and all the other modelling and porn roles to Transwomen - perhaps we could run a campaign to encourage them?

This is a brilliant idea. Let them have at it!

The model is very beautiful, yes.

underneaththeash · 10/07/2020 23:58

They've clearly been airbrushed anyway.

TitianaTitsling · 10/07/2020 23:58

But of course any male who says they don't find this person sexually attractive is 'lying' but that's it? no calls for 'die in a grease fire' 'choke on this girl dick'?

KaronAVyrus · 10/07/2020 23:54

The backlash won’t be far away when enough straight men are pissed off.

PennyNotSoWise · 10/07/2020 23:49

@Antibles

It is quite amusing to see men being sold this line, except for the fact that yes of course the male commenters don't get the same shit women do.

What would be quite helpful would be if transwomen wanted to replace biological women in all internet porn too.

Ooh, I think we'd all discover rather quickly that biological sex does in fact exist, and matter after all...

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/07/2020 23:26

As others have said, it would be fab if men could take over all the glamour modelling jobs so women could get on with more interesting things. It must be bloody tedious having to primp and preen all the time, they are more than welcome to it.

FloralBunting · 10/07/2020 23:23

It's all cosmetic. If no surgery, there is certainly tucking and judicious posing, lighting and make up. There are some ravishingly beautiful men out there who sit easily into the feminine aesthetic of our culture. Because it's made up illusion.

NotTerfNorCis · 10/07/2020 23:22

Great idea. Soon there'd be no Playboy, Victoria's Secret, Miss World etc left because the blokes (gay or straight) wouldn't be interested.

TBHno · 10/07/2020 23:16

I have to be honest, I wouldn't have known that model was trans if it hadn't been pointed out.

Is it good surgery? Or good photography/ lighting?
