A reminder to check the petition board and that if you post a petition here it gets moved to petitions

Not only do posts on petitions get moved to the petition boards, but the thread on here reminding FWRs posters that there is a petition board seems to have been censored or at least disappeared!

So worth checking out petitions: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/petitions_noticeboard

Oops! My thread has been deleted from the Petitions Board - I didn't realise that certain sorts of posts are not allowed.

"This thread has been deleted by MNHQ for breaking our Talk guidelines."

There is another thread that explains Rachel's situation without breaking Talk Guidelines:

True!

stumbledin · 21/06/2021 23:34

Hi SpringCrocus - I can see that feminist petitions in feminst activism makes sense, but I was sternly told that a petition I had posted had to go on the petitions board. There was even a discussion on that board asking MN to explain and nobody came and said, oh that's easy just post on the activism section. But as we now know communication doesn't seem to be a strong point from MNHQ!

SpringCrocus · 21/06/2021 22:13

Sorry, I was wrong about there being a Petitions sub board in Feminism, but Feminist Activism used to have petitions posted there, which is what I was thinking of. And that has now gone.

Leafstamp · 21/06/2021 22:01

Bump, I’ve just added a new petition relating to Laurel Hubbard.

SpringCrocus · 21/06/2021 20:06

And yes I did read the post, thank you.Hmm

SpringCrocus · 21/06/2021 20:03

There was a Petitions sub board in Feminism, until recently. There was also Feminist activism and Feminist books, which seem to have disappeared completely.

stumbledin · 21/06/2021 19:00

SpringCrocus did you actually read the OP to this thread?! ie

I've just reported my post to @MNHQ, asking them why.

SpringCrocus · 21/06/2021 18:26

Petitions can now be found in the Classified section HmmConfused

No idea why there, tbh!

THREAD: Why getting as many signatures as possible on this petition improves the chances of it getting proper attention by the Scottish Parliament.

All Scottish Parliament petitions are put in front of the Petitions Committee, no matter how many signatures they get. The Committee can decide to undertake further investigation or just to "close" the petition immediately, with no more discussion.

Our aim is to persuade the Committee to decide to take foward work on the petition.

More background about the Committee's possible choices is included in our blog here. It will consider the petition at a meeting some time after the summer recess.

The Committee will decide whether it deserves more attention by looking at the material we've put in and any supporting statements from other people or organisations. It is up to the Committee how much weight to put on signatures (so it's different from petitions at Westminster).

Although in Scotland signatures do not guarantee that a petition will be inveistgated further, the more there are, the stronger the message to the Committee about the level of interest.

With almost 7,750 signatures in a week, the level of interest in this petition is already unusually high. Only 3 of the 44 petitions under consideration by the Committee at the moment received more than 10,000 signatures.

If this petition can also reach 10,000 supporters, we hope that will help it stand out and reduce the risk that it is rejected at the first stage, particularly if the Committee receives any representations urging it not to take further action.

So please continue sharing this link, especially off Twitter. Signatories are not limited to Scotland and their names are not made public. The closing date is 5 July.

@stumbledin

Cant find any secton on talk called surveys - so why are they moved?
I don’t think they necessarily are.

The only other grey area is if it would constitute a media request or advertising type thing.

I’d just start a thread with the survey you want to link to and see what happens. Good luck

Don't know for sure but I posted a survey (not mine!) a while ago and it got moved so given how quickly the MBM petition got moved it will probably go to the other board pretty quickly. Might be worth a go though...

Anyway, bump!
