Looks like he might go to jail.

Business as usual tomorrow for her, does anyone think?

DidoLamenting · 22/08/2020 20:26

The only thing left on IK's twitter feed apart from a review of a hand sanitiser (which isn't going well)

is a bizarre article criticising McDonald's for getting rid of the senior exec who broke the "never poke a payroll" rule (as one of husband's partners crudely but succinctly put it) and was sacked

It's a rule which is there for a good reason and many workplaces have it. Why she thinks McDonald's was in the wrong or why their ex-employee employee deserves sympathy escapes me.

Can his sentence be appealed ?
Perhaps IK is not with him anymore ?

southeastdweller · 22/08/2020 20:07

I see Joyce is back on twitter as if nothing happened.

The arrogance of this piece of trash truly sickens me, as much as his crime. And nobody high profile in the media has challenged him.

DidoLamenting · 22/08/2020 13:50

India Knight seems to have deleted everything on twitter.

DidoLamenting · 22/08/2020 13:47

The sentence is a joke.

I see Joyce is back on twitter as if nothing happened.

SerendipityJane · 22/08/2020 13:29

I'm sure there's no bias here, so news of an equally stomach churning Tory criminal pervert won't be out of place ?

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/mark-lerigo-spared-jail-child-images-paedophile-conservative-campaign-manager-a9682596.html

A former Conservative Party campaign manager has been spared jail for possessing indecent images of children.

Mark Lerigo had collected more than 1,500 images, including some showing babies and others involving bestiality and torture.

(contd)

Thanks for the link to the excellent Eleanor Morgan thread, southeastdweller.

There's a very good piece here from Sarah Ditum about a tv programme on whether sex offenders who abuse children can be rehabilitated:

I thought courts nowadays didn't see alcohol as a mitigating factor....it's inexcusable he can hide behind his wife & blame alcohol. How can he still be allowed access to social media? It just makes no sense to me.

southeastdweller · 20/08/2020 12:54

Hats off to Eleanor Morgan on Twitter:
@Siablue did anyone come back to you on this? I can't see it i this thread. It looks like anyone can request a review
Oh good. I have also seen that there is a change.org petition but I think it would be more effective to actually request the review. It does say some child sex offences so his might not be considered bad enough. We can but try.

FinnyStory · 13/08/2020 22:28

Is it really that strange that it's not being reported on? He's an ex Scottish MP of no importance, not even in the governing party.

It's very strange behaviour from her, especially if she has a child under 18 (how is it possible for her to stay with him and the child?) and is generally so judgemental of anyone who falls short, but I think it's clear that she's a fairly damaged person and it wasn't her who committed this crime.

southeastdweller · 13/08/2020 22:10

For fucks sake, this piece of scum is still tweeting about A-level results as if nothing happened! He has no shame.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 13/08/2020 09:57

Well done and thank you to Julie Birchill for having the courage to say what that monster did. He should not be walking the streets. IK should be ashamed for allowing herself to be used as the excuse for rehabilitation.

IheartJKR · 12/08/2020 18:53

❤️ Julie... brilliant article.

LadyEloise · 12/08/2020 18:18

I am so very disappointed in that ST journalist. I won't be reading their articles again or quoting their views in the Style and Beauty threads if they are continuing to live with EJ.
Is there a child ( under 18 ) in that household ?

I love incisive female journalism.
Not woke stuff.
Not sycophantic stuff like Good Housekeeping (UK) or Woman and Home do with UK celebrities - they are just puff pieces. Vom!

Is Julie the only female journalist to stick her head above the parapet.
Good on her Thanksand I'm not usually a fan.

Clymene · 12/08/2020 17:54

@LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE

I realise it makes no difference, but I will not be reading anything she writes again.
I have already stopped. Even her smug face gives me the rage now. I have thrown her thrift book in the recycling

Brilliant article. I'm sick to my stomach that Joyce was not sentenced to prison. And it's horrendously sexist to frame his "love of a good woman" as a mitigating factor. Once again, man is not responsible - here woman is cast as his keeper, in other cases she drove him to it.
MrsKeats · 12/08/2020 16:44

Julie has now followed me! Feel special,
Astonishing article.

MoltenLasagne · 12/08/2020 16:29

Just read Julie's article - how on earth has that man got away without a spell in prison?

Clymene · 12/08/2020 16:11

Good on Julie Burchill for exposing the media hypocrisy at play here. This man is a paedophile and he is living with a woman and her disabled child. Both he and Knight are utterly repellent human beings

Bravo, Julie!

Fanthorpe · 12/08/2020 10:17

There was a piece in the Mail about a 17 year old party member who had an ‘affair’ with him. Extraordinary.

What the hell is IK thinking?!? After the incident when he assaulted the teenage boys she defended him, saying it was provoked, and that people didn’t understand what a stressful environment parliament was.
