This is not a woman?!

The current effort to make female a subset of woman in order to make transwomen a subset of woman instead of a subset of males needs to be confronted.

A warm welcome to those who have only recently found out how insane the world is now! I often wish I could have stayed in blissful ignorance for a few more years; it is a huge trauma not only finding out what is going on but that virtually all the “adults in the room“, as it were, are at best ignoring it or at worst enabling and promoting it, telling us it is a “good thing”, and vilifying those of us who object to our mistreatment.

I’ve seen things come a long way in the time I’ve been following this (about five years) but we still have a very long way to go, and the only way forward is for more and more women - and men - to wake up to what is going on and get really, really angry about it.

How we undo the brainwashing of (particularly) younger people, who are more likely to have bought into it all, I’m not so sure. But I hope the generation that comes after them will be more connected to reality and actual social justice, and will tell them in their turn that they are the outdated, irrelevant ones!

Really, really recommend watching this video if you’ve got 45 minutes to spare. It’s horrifying, and a stark warning about what would happen if we were to go down the self ID route and let male prisoners be incarcerated with women simply on their say-so. Like a dream come true for men whose chief aim in life is to sexually harass and abuse women.

Things are bad enough here, but my heart aches for the vulnerable women in Canada being so monstrously betrayed by their deeply woman-hating government.

Like most others I read "woman commits long list of bizarre sex crimes" and assume the "woman" in question was born with a penis. There will be some misogynists who're all "see, women do it to!" but most people are going to read something like that as such an obvious man bites dog story that they'll be looking for the cracks through which it's possible to figure out what actually happened.

It's about sex, @Wannabangbang. Physical sex. Male prisoners should be locked up with other men. Putting a male sex offender in the female estate is totally wrong. Those women deserve better than that. Being deprived of their liberty is the punishment, not being locked up with some sexual predator

This stuff really matters when it comes to safeguarding and research into the causes and effective treatment of sex offending.

And yes, I too look for a picture now when I read about a “woman” being convicted of sexual assault and similar. I remember how naive I was a few years ago when I read a similar story, looked at the photo (which looked like a photo of a man) and assumed they must have put the wrong photo in the story.

I'm guessing the only way the writer was allowed to allude to this person's sex was by mentioning their alias.

Read the article and confused. Are we assuming it’s a woman,who also uses a male name, Or a man, who is self-identifying with a woman’s name?

I've had to change my username multiple times and I hoped against all odds when the data breach happened that i wouldn't be doxxed.

It appears people will either immediately see the issues or the be kind to the trans kicks in and they defend defend defend. All we can do is keep raising the issues and hope that eventually they see.

And yes, OP, I am in a similar place to you. I had no idea how bad this all was until about six months ago.

Remember, it is offensive to 'deadname' people or out someone as trans. I suspect the wording of 'alias' is to try and avoid that issue.

Usually there is a photograph of the perpetrator, which helps to work out what is going on.

In Canada they are required by law to refer to trans women as she and her, so the ethical journalists started posting pictures of the perps so that people could judge for themselves.

Reporting this way isn't required by law in the UK but Stonewall got out in front of the law by doing the training and advising of the police and the judges so that women like Maria Maclachlan were ordered by the judge to refer to the male who assaulted her as she.
