Why the Feminism board wasn't banned by Mumsnet

Because, despite Reddit's best efforts, there are still many people believe that women have a right to discuss issues that affect them. Women will continue speaking.

But, hey, GenderCynical - I hear you still have r/abusedsluts with which to console yourselves.

MN need to be aware, that on Reddit transactivists have taken over or forced to go to private 3 main Reddit subs devoted to discussing the female health issues of pregnancy, PCOS and periods. This is absolutely a war on women.

MN would be unlikely to remove the Feminism board because it knows how many site users use it. Most of the most active posters on the site generally post on here too sometimes. There would be uproar.

Advertisers hold some power but advertisers are only interested because of the users. If they leave en masse, MN disappears.

Plus many users, myself included, use this board as my main and often only entry point to the site. New users often come here first these days (and that includes TRAs coming to stir up trouble, who are of course unwittingly boosting traffic to the site and improving MN's figures).

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 04/07/2020 10:40

Thanks becky

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 04/07/2020 10:27

Hello everyone - sorry, it seems the OP was deleted in error. We've reinstated it now.

TehBewilderness · 04/07/2020 00:42

@Melroses

What's the point of a thread with no OP Confused
Bait.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 03/07/2020 23:15

The fact that the other thread has been turned into swiss cheese to protect the op from the results of their own behavior tells you everything you need to know, really.

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 03/07/2020 21:54

@MNHQ

Why was kennebec deleted?

I honestly don’t understand and how am I supposed to moderate my ‘tone’ if I don’t understand

And i know you say guidelines...but what guidelines?

I can’t see what she said that was wrong...especially as the other OP on the reddit thread treats us like fucking idiots, and I certainly reported that one, but nada

Please and thank you

TehBewilderness · 03/07/2020 21:30

This is what I meant when I said I didn't like the tone but agreed with the sentiment. Personally I'm trying to channel Michelle Obama and rise above, though not always succeeding.

We tried that here a few years ago, 'when they go low we go high.' The admin team interpreted it to mean we agreed to a double standard on FWR. You can read it in that pinned post at the top called "Mumsnet moderation principles for discussions around gender identity and sex."

SetYourselfOnFire · 03/07/2020 20:07

lmao.

Deleted this OP, left the admitted troll. Every day gets more surreal.

Bloggs123 · 03/07/2020 18:28

@FreeKitties

We absolutely should be celebrating that mumsnet FWR is still here.

As many people have pointed out Reddit hosts discussion boards where rape and sexual abuse fetishes are freely discussed, so the justification of removing a board which discusses women’s rights is barely disguised misogyny at its very finest.

I am 39 years old I am pig sick of being told to be nice, be kind, don’t talk about that you
might upset someone. Whilst men can talk about assaulting, abusing and raping women without worrying about being judged negatively I will do all it takes to make sure women’s voices are heard.

FrameyMcFrame · 03/07/2020 18:25

How can you have a thread if the op post is deleted????

I'm struggling to understand this.

ThePawtriarchy · 03/07/2020 17:39

I suppose we’ll have to guess whether she didn’t do feminism nicely enough now then Confused

I can't remember what the OP said, except it seemed relatively innocuous.Confused

Madness! Delete the OP and watch us all piss into the wind!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 03/07/2020 12:36

This thread might as well be deleted as the op has been deleted so have no idea what this discussion is about.

GreytExpectations · 02/07/2020 20:04
**@GreytExpectations Yes I agree, that was what was behind the point I was making really.

I don't much care for anyone telling me how to think or what opinions I should have, to be honest.

Reddit is not somewhere I'm inclined to venture, so I keep out of all that side of it. I like my blood pressure to remain stable Grin
Reddit is a HUGE platform which has a lot of different spaces. It's not some awful place like people on here seem to make out. You can easily focus on sub reddits which interest you and share your opinions without ever coming across the horrible parts. People seem to assume because there are bad parts of reddit that the whole site is like that but it's simply not true. It's basically one of the biggest forums on the Internet.

Sorry went on a bit of a tangent Grin

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 02/07/2020 19:33

@PurpleHoodie

Mumsnetters will just do "feministing" all over the rest of the MN if FWR was closed.

Yes Grin go mums!

Its so hard to 'get' feminism until your biology chucks you in at the deep end. I know some young women are on it straight away, but most arent. Most of us have to get royally shafted first, sadly.
