Can we please stop the ‘ooo FWR will be forced to shut down’ chat? They’ve targeted us for YEARS and we are extremely lucky that mn has solid statistical data about FWR use and recognizes that they provide a space for discussion. Play by the rules and no one is shutting down anything. Particularly with the premium subscription.^^

From your lips... GC's moderators said the exact same thing last night and got banned today with no warning. They'd also been trying to ban them for 5+ years but they always played by the rules. So Reddit stopped playing by the rules and just lied. I don't trust anybody these days, but I hope you're right and FWR is too profitable to close.

GCDebatesQT has gone private. Mods are I guess figuring out if there's a point in coming back?. They bent over backwards to be considerate at least at first, until they got doxxed or lied to one too many times, then the snark came out. Trans activists really can't co-exist with free speech or even polite debate. It's a hollow, sham philosophy.

I am hoping that ruqqus with its guilds can take off as an alternative for the censorship cesspool known as Reddit and it's subreddits. There's already a huge influx of new users to their site to the point where one of the owners is scrambling to get it back up on a Twitch stream. Their Discord is very active atm too.

It’s appalling - all dissent will be shutdown. The subreddits closed like Chapo house, The Donald, gendercritical were all ‘heretical voices’ that will not be tolerated. I’m sure there will be pushback at seeing The Donald as part of this but you don’t have to personally support or agree with reddits to see the same playbook being used. Reddit moves in to appoint its chosen moderators and then closes down. It tells everyone it’s because of threats of violence or hate speech without quantifying what that entails. Free speech (baring specific invocations of violence ) for all is the only defence.

Reddit today has, as well, defined only gender (NOT sex) as a protected characteristic and as also defined hate speech as something that specifically cannot occur against majority groups. Women are a majority of the population.

The disgraceful hypocrisy at leaving the rapeconfession and similar reddits up makes me want to weep with rage.

FWR MN exists because womens supportive voices were ALL OVER Mumsnet.

Nonces, trolls, MRAs and general nonce supporting shit stirring maidens were all over the place.

If they take down FWR, then the female supportive voices will go back to all over Mumsnet (as well as the usual supportive voices)

I am gutted and furious and tbh surprised. I know I shouldn't be, but reddit houses discussions on rape and violence and all kinds of depraved shit and women discussing among themselves get banned?? Fuck them. Fuck the activist mods on most "women's" subreddits who only cater to women with dicks, fuck the admins, fuck all of them sad little wankers who can't handle women having an opinion.

I've had a big cry this evening to my DH - I feel overwhelmed realising at 35 how much the world hates women, how much they want to silence us and how far we have to go. I worry so much for my children.

Wow! Some of the smartest, well read feminists posted on GenderCritical. I'm gutted. I need to take down my Reddit account but like the quilters and crafters, I'm going to miss my knitting group. Rather ironic that violent rape fantasy subs still exist but women who found sisterhood in r/Knitting and r/radfemmoms are now banned. Ironically, r/GenderCriticalGuys is still up! They are wondering how long they can last, is being an ally of women and girls now a hate crime?

Twitter, Reddit and Facebook aren't the internet. They are popular social media platforms but their censorship policies will kill them. Parler and Saidit are alternatives. Just watch them grow. How do they think this ends? Women just shut up and go home? I don't think so.

This is a new low. No debate or discussion allowed between women on issues massively affecting their rights and freedoms.

We’ve been out on a limb for years. Hasn’t stopped us yet.

My local gc feminist group created a new subreddit vowing to stay within the rules (the old one did too, though) and it was banned within an hour. Before any discussion took place.

It is not about hate speech or following rules. Being GC is clearly the issue.

I've signed up to Spinster. It's looking good for an alternative to Reddit.

Is reddit really anything other than lots of echo chambers? - some may contain debates but I'm never aware of them impinging on real life or being quoted in the MSM.

*Not a reddit user myself but came on to say the femalehuman ban was a probably result of TRAs scouring MN, one of the little toerags admitted on twitter this was where he found the information then encouraged a mass report.

I do think that after the huge victory that closing GenderCritical must be for the TRAs, they're going to quadruple their efforts here and really put even more pressure on Justine.

Which is why we need more spaces. We can't rely on having just one or two.

The FWR brings in a high level of traffic. As I said earlier we play by the rules, there is no issue. There have been numerous attempts to get MN to close this board down. Numerous pile ons. Yet MN, despite ghat pressure, continues to give us a voice.

I don't always agree with some of the moderation but I think they do a good job and I'm grateful to them all.

I also believe that that if ever Justine and MN thought of closing the board, they would give us a chance to air our views first.

Thanks @BaronessWrongCrowd I'll start paying for the subs, you make a good point which I hadn't considered that it secures MN against the pressure of losing sponsors.
I wouldn't ever want to dip my toes in the cesspit of reddit (have years ago, but it's not a place I would want to be) , and although I'm not a contributor to this board, I read and I lurk and I try to engage with people about this issue in real life.
I also boycott the shops/brands mentioned on here that are anti women.

There is no other way, we have to keep fighting this, women's rights matter, we will not be buried alive.

I came off Facebook years ago because it was toxic and I came off Instagram a few months ago because I spent too much time browsing completely inconsequential shite. I think I’ve run out of social media....
