This is doing the rounds on Facebook. If this is the sort of thing people use to decide they're 'in the wrong body', well, it might explain why TRAs have some problems with uppity wimmin. www.idrlabs.com/gender/

Absolutely women and men should just be seen as people with a range of personalities.

But currently we live in a world of gender stereotypes that influence how people behave. Many people are working to change that.

PlanDeRaccordement · 28/06/2020 20:57

Heh.
I’m 97% Masculine, but 25% Feminine. I am “extremely masculine”
Very funny stuff.

MrsVeryTired · 28/06/2020 20:57

DP on my filling it in for him is highly feminine but also highly masculine, so androgynous, I'm more masculine than he is Grin

ShinyFootball · 28/06/2020 20:56

'broad social consensus on what is considered masculine and feminine.'

Which varies over time and around the world???

Stripesgalore · 28/06/2020 20:55

‘And who/ how was it decided which traits are masculine and which are feminine?’

Presumably social psychologists did based on a broad social consensus on what is considered masculine and feminine.

The test isn’t supposed to include opposites. It is supposed to only include positive traits- analytical, compassionate etc.

ShinyFootball · 28/06/2020 20:53

It makes no sense unless you believe that there are innate differences in average.

Gender (masculine /feminine) has been used to control people's behaviour.

What's wrong with the idea that both men and women have a range of personalities which is linked to them as individuals?

The constant drive to split out men and women into 'type' is very telling.

notheragain4 · 28/06/2020 20:52

I'm mostly masculine apparently. I guess because I swear, am dominant, ambitious and don't like children.

I'm so confused. I'd better go declare myself as a man who menstruates, because that would make so much more sense than a woman having those traits. Someone's gotta keep women in their place.

MrsVeryTired · 28/06/2020 20:51

Although being casually masculine might explain my hairy chin I suppose Wink

I must try and answer for DP see if hes "casually feminine" Grin

ShinyFootball · 28/06/2020 20:51

Stripes but some of the traits oppose each other so how can someone have full marks on both?

'When Daphna Joel did her research into there being no such thing as male brain or female brain Physically she started by pointing out that in psychology there is no correlation between feminine and masculine traits'.

And who/ how was it decided which traits are masculine and which are feminine?

TorkTorkBam · 28/06/2020 20:50

@Stripesgalore

Banana, I don’t understand why it is funny that feminists don’t know what masculine and feminine mean.

Not sure what I am missing here.

We know perfectly well that how masculine and feminine we are deemed according to social norms has little to do with what women are capable of being and doing.

We are amused because of the likes of Mermaids "educating" us that people are trans if their pink and blue brain is in the wrong proportion to their body. Our results show this as the total arse that it is.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 28/06/2020 20:50

137% of wtf here Confused

Elladisenchanted · 28/06/2020 20:49

I'm undifferentiated androgynous. Huh???

MrsVeryTired · 28/06/2020 20:48

I'm also "casually masculine" better tell DP Grin
I'm a straight woman.
Yes I'm not a delicate flower but that doesn't make me a man, just a strong woman.

Stripesgalore · 28/06/2020 20:47

Football, yes it is based on the BEM sex role inventory. Psychologists claim that some people score highly on both.

The notion that masculinity and femininity are on a spectrum is from transgenderism, not psychology.

Basic info on the test is here, although the internet version people have completed did give a reference list at the end.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bem_Sex-Role_Inventory

When Daphna Joel did her research into there being no such thing as male brain or female brain Physically she started by pointing out that in psychology there is no correlation between feminine and masculine traits. You can be high or low in both, or a mixture.

prolefeed · 28/06/2020 20:47

I’m typically masculine. Mmhmm.

ItsSummer · 28/06/2020 20:45

78% masculine.

Move over girls, I need to spread my legs - me balls are getting in the way Hmm

TorkTorkBam · 28/06/2020 20:41

Am I in the wrong body?

To be fair I have felt it was really quite wrong ever since my third baby was born. Baby 3 was accidentally conceived far too soon after the birth of baby 2.

Still, third-baby-making afternoon was a bloody good afternoon. Nobody was confused over whose bits went where.

Top tip for younger ladies: Don't rely on breastfeeding as contraception, nor of being, ahem, mature age for having babies along with lack of restarting regular menstruation meaning you are not currently fertile.

ShinyFootball · 28/06/2020 20:41

Stripes so you are saying that a person could be 100% feminine and also 100% masculine???

Destroyedpeople · 28/06/2020 20:40

Ooh stripes ...bad 'feminists'!

Bananabixfloof · 28/06/2020 20:40

NearlyGranny · 28/06/2020 20:33

Casually masculine here, too, 72%.

What the heck does "casually masculine" even mean? Should I try to grow some designer stubble? Do my 3 adult children need to be told about my gender status? Should I buy some chinos?

Bananabixfloof · 28/06/2020 20:30

Stripes, have you heard of fun?
