I admire her for being able to be so gracious, however I feel it may let him off the hook.

Not good enough. He only apologised when national papers picked up on it. Not because he genuinely reflected on being an arse.

He could have said, female survivors of sexual assault have legitimate reasons to fear the ending of sex-segregated spaces. But he didn't. Because he doesn't really care about such women.

The woman after woman on that Twitter thread saying, 'me too.' 'I'm afraid because of my abuse and I've been ridiculed'. 'I've tried to share my experience and been told to shut up, it's transphobic.' I'm in tears reading it.

If there's proof needed that female humans need spaces to be alone from males because males talk over them, males cannot relate to and do not care about female needs, because males won't let them talk or have space to talk unless its centering males, because only females truly hear female experience, there it is.

The courage, the bravery, the rationality, it's all on one side with JK. Bloody marvellous woman, ovaries of bloody steel.

JK Rowling is just freaking amazing - such dignity and bravery! She could easily just enjoy her wealth. As she says, she will likely never be imprisoned nor need a women's refuge but she is prepared to speak out and be viciously attacked - "exploiting" her own abuse FFS!!!! - to stand up for more vulnerable women. It must be so infuriating to the TRAs that she is such a powerful woman that she can’t be silenced and she can’t be forced into apologising, that whatever she says will be reported around the world and that if she never sold another book she would live the rest of her life in luxury.

I saw a frantic, arse-covering attempt at mitigation, but not much in the way of actual apologetic sentiment or acknowledgment of why what he said was wrong. 🤷‍♀️

It's just extraordinary. I tell you what, though. I'm used now to the fact that men and TRAs come out with this shit. What I find unforgivable is the number of women I see going along with it. Women who call themselves feminists believing that you shouldn't "weaponise" violence against women. There is a special place in hell for them.
