Some countries have a 'Romeo and Juliet' allowance for teenage couples. There's no benefit to generally lowering the age of consent.

@stealthpolarbear I had a suspicion at the time that the police would dismiss it, but it was still a massive stress.

Just to clarify, I think 16 is the right age of consent. Although I do really judge any adult (20 years+) who would actually sleep with a 16 year old, since the power dynamics just feel so wrong.

I feel like it's slowly creeping into the mainstream more and more, piggy backed on pride etc, and it needs to be stopped. I saw that protasia (unsure of spelling) website a bit ago on twitter and I think there was a thread on it here. It is appalling. Plus all the "maps" and the creepy anime pictures of sexualised young looking people. It turns my stomach. And Twitter let it carry on which is shameful.

I have just looked up the age of consent law for Germany.
‘The age of consent is 14, if both partners are under 18.
A very important qualification and completely different to what Harrop and Jessen were discussing.

Caribou they may have threatened you but assuming you were about the same age I don't think anything would have come of it

(E.g. when I was 16, my 15 year old boyfriend's parents threatened to report me to the police for having sex with their technically underage son, even though he was the one who pressurised me to do it in the first place...)

In any case it is completely disgusting for an adult of any age to have sex with a child.

Well, certain people seem to be frequently invited to appear on the BBC to give their opinions on various things. They make no attempt to hide their connections with PIE, or MAP as they are now known. Hiding in plain sight.

IIRC there was a much longer on on this board too.

I'm old enough to remember the PIE offensive in the 70's and early 80's and they piggybacked on gay rights and civil liberties then too. They were taken quite seriously in the parts oft he media and by civil rights groups such as Liberty. I'm sure they held back the progress of gay rights especially around lowering the age of consent.

And so the chipping away at the norms that keep young people safe continues.

The age of consent is lower in some other European countries - it's 14 in Germany, Austria and Italy for example.

I wouldn't support the lowering personally but it is accurate to say it's a judgement call.

I'm really glad that the mainstream media is starting to pick up on this, and hopefully they'll pick up on the fact that piggybacking on the LGB is still happening too.

Dr Christian and Adrian Harrop had a Twitter conversation about this. The basic jist was that in some countries sex with what we consider as minors was the norm, and not classed as Pedophelia and that we impose this abritary age on sex. I'll see if I can find it.

If you look for the YouTuber "ready to glare" she has done lots of brilliant research and videos on MAPs. I watched her latest one yesterday about how she was finding more Maps "identifying" as trans age to claim that the attraction wasn't really pedophilia. And some minors claiming on Twitter to be "map allies" saying things like "maps are valid" and inviting private messages, often stating that they also have a history of CSA. This whole thing is getting massively out of hand and twitter needs to shut it down before it gains any more momentum, but they prefer to spend their time targeting people like Glinner. Such a revolting platform.
