Every Saturday morning her comment is the first thing I read in the Times and she never disappoints:

Thank you for the share token. Brilliant article, to the point and infuriating in the right way. Janice is doing really the work, chipping away at the illusion and opening people’s eyes.

Here you are ComeBy . New share token (and the comments underneath are brilliant):

Balanced article and great comments underneath. I particularly liked ‘The Baroness is from a time when campaigning meant doing more than changing your avatar on twitter’ Grin
She is quoted as saying she hasn’t heard back from Booker. That’s absolutely appalling. She’s been absolutely hung out to dry.

sultanasofa · 28/06/2020 10:53

sorry I mean Saturday not Friday.... only 24 h late

sultanasofa · 28/06/2020 10:44

I realise it's 48h since the piece on the Today programme on Friday, referenced on the first page of this thread, but it was an interesting interview. Is this evidence of a change in public discourse on this subject? - it's not nodebate. It seemed the BBC were tentatively acknowledging that the transgender ideology extremist position can occasionally be challenged.

Mark Damazer, chair of the Booker, claimed they had to abolish the positions because of the 'Weird Creature' tweet and another tweet about one of the judges - not sure what this one was? He also acknowledged the ongoing conflict between women's rights and the demands of the transgender movements.

Baroness Nicholson had a right to reply and was able to speak without interruption.

Mishal Hussein seemed to have a good grasp of the issues and asked the right questions.

I'm encouraged and there will have been a lot of listeners unaware of this topic who will have heard, and maybe will want to explore further.

There’s another article today. www.thetimes.co.uk/article/5a45470a-b8ab-11ea-809a-a9cf0f6249f6?shareToken=584321bfddfa5163d2d0d48f0d2cd76e

I didn’t know that about David Willetts (that he was anti same-sex marriage), this brilliant article really highlights the rank misogyny and double standards of all the witch hunting

Janice is so right- it’s only women who are required to toe the line at all times on every issue, required to make every cause and issue one that they will fight for (even for the causes against their own interests Hmm) ... or they will be cancelled. If they in any way draw attention to the creepy authoritarianism or to the anti-safeguarding agenda they will be cancelled.. if women say nothing about any of that and just want to have a conversation with other women about women’s rights, that’s not allowed either.

Also that was a great tweet from Buck Angel up thread.

PhoenixBuchanan · 28/06/2020 00:57

Please let Janice Turner win the Orwell Prize this year! So deserved.

ItsLateHumpty · 28/06/2020 00:02

From the article and good to remember:

Universities, businesses, celebrities or charities should always remember that only a fifth of Britain — about 14 million people — is on Twitter and 80 per cent of tweets are written by 10 per cent of users.

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 27/06/2020 23:57

@RoyalCorgi

I notice the historian Tom Holland has come off the fence and tweeted Janice's article with the comment:

"Why would people gun for Baroness Nicholson but not Lord Willetts (who so far as I am aware has never done a thing for the Yazidis?) Why J K Rowling, a woman of astonishing achievement & generosity, but not Tyson Fury?"

Why indeed. Why indeed.

Strange

There’s obviously a reason...but what could it be, what could it be 🤔

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 27/06/2020 23:56

First they came for the feminists, but you were a fool if you thought they'd stop there

thats certainly pithy but its not got the same ring to it...

ItsLateHumpty · 27/06/2020 23:55

Thanks Errol

What an antidote to yesterday’s shit storm. Brew

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 27/06/2020 23:51

the hypocrisy and gall of Lord Willetts in signing that letter, when his voting record suggests he must share her views, is staggering. Did he believe that in disavowing a fellow Tory peer, he might himself be spared the firing squad? The mob still might come for him

I did not know this...what an utter tosspot

Blue5238 · 27/06/2020 23:25

Has anyone got a new share token? Would like to read

Coyoacan · 27/06/2020 14:10

Brilliant article as always

ErrolTheDragon · 27/06/2020 13:55

Im so glad there's a brilliant female writer who seems uncancellable - joined now by JKR.Grin

teawamutu · 27/06/2020 13:41

@FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue

I'm going to subscribe to the Times now. They seem to be fearless and ahead of the curve on this issue, and have the absolute best writers.
It's why I ditched my Guardian subscription and switched to the Times. Never once regretted it.
DrudgeJedd · 27/06/2020 13:11

I see the thin-skinned misogynistic shitweasle Damian Barr has locked his Twitter again. He's spent the last week traducing the reputation of a woman with decades of altruism & hard work to her name but he will not countenance a single challenge to his cruel behaviour. I hope the women writers who cheered him on read Janice's words & feel a tiny flutter of shame at what they have enabled.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/06/2020 13:06

Yep. I've noticed them going after gay men more now too.

I'm actually glad about this. Once it starts impacting men there will begin to be more pushback.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 27/06/2020 13:04

Indeed. First they came for the feminists, but you were a fool if you thought they'd stop there

Yep. I've noticed them going after gay men more now too. We tried to warn them.

Most of the young whiney fuckers on twitter have no clue of the things the Baroness has done during her life. They came for her simply because she is a friend of JKR so must be taken down.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 27/06/2020 12:34

Wowee, that's dynamite; Janice Turner never fails to impress me.
