Young detransitioner talks about being the youngest woman to have a double mastectomy at the age of 15

I wanted to link to this very moving story about this young woman but it is only on a gofund me page as at 16 she is trying to reverse some of the surgery adults allowed her to have.

I dont want to break MNHQ rules and I know fundraisers aren't allowed on FWR, but I do want her story to be shared.

So how do get others to read about why Penny Cunningham needs reconstructive surgery at 16?

Thanks

This should be included in the school packs.

I understand that I am responsible for my choices and that I have to fix it myself

That's the downside of this kind of informed consent model in the US. It puts all of the responsibility on the patient and absolves medical practitioners of any blame. Unless, of course, whatever procedure or treatment the patient seeks is not done right. But responsibility for having it done at all is put entirely on the patient.

Even when - as is becoming increasingly obvious - informed consent is not possible in this situation. Because so little evidence exists that medically transitioning anyone without exhaustive, thorough and long-term counselling that first seeks to reconcile the patient with their sex is an effective treatment.

As long as this ideology is spreading and ever more ever younger children are put on this path, heartbreaking stories like this will be on the rise, too.

@StealthPolarBear

Essentially she has been mutilated by a system and individuals within that system that should be trustworthy. There is something very corrupt going on in the world with our young people . I am assuming this would not happen in the UK, am I right or naive?
I heard a little rumour that private hospitals have temporarily halted renting space to surgeons for cosmetic mastectomy operations on under 18s - pending the result of Keira Bell’s upcoming judicial review. Up until now some surgeons would operate on girls between the ages of 16-18. NHS is minimum 18 for surgery.

So, nothing quite this extreme has happened in the U.K. and hopefully the ship will now be turned round before it ever happens. This doesn’t stop Susie Green and her Mermaids mates from taking their children abroad, of course.

No. You We’re, and are a child. A child that was lied to by adults you had every reason to believe.

This ^

It’s really hard to stand firm against the trans cult while supporting a gender-distressed child/adolescent/young adult, but we must do it.

If we don’t, this is is the awful result.

Wishing Penny every future happiness imaginable ❤️

What sort of person would perform a double mastectomy on such a young person for no medical reason?

🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

Here in the UK we have our own creepy and deeply worrying private surgeons making a mint out of this.

Why the GMC are uninterested in this I have no idea.

I read Penny's plight and it is heart wrenching that she had doubts but affirmation led her to deny her doubts.

Last night, I also read this which was quite eye opening as well.

www.dailysignal.com/2019/03/10/i-was-americas-first-non-binary-person-it-was-all-a-sham/

Four years ago, I wrote about my decision to live as a woman in The New York Times, writing that I had wanted to live “authentically as the woman that I have always been,” and had “effectively traded my white male privilege to become one of America’s most hated minorities.”

Three years ago, I decided that I was neither male nor female, but nonbinary—and made headlines after an Oregon judge agreed to let me identify as a third sex, not male or female.

Now, I want to live again as the man that I am.

I’m one of the lucky ones. Despite participating in medical transgenderism for six years, my body is still intact. Most people who desist from transgender identities after gender changes can’t say the same.

Apparently, he started to question and campaign against the medical transitioning of young people. It wasn’t until I came out against the sterilization and mutilation of gender-confused children and transgender military service members in 2017 that LGBT organizations stopped helping me. Most of the media retreated with them.

I have always felt that the rush to push through all these changes without evidence and robust knowledge has been that this movement has a very unstable foundation. It really feels that in the next few years, major cracks will show and this is what the blunt instruments of cancelling/taglines/no debate is trying to cover over.

Just like Fox and Owl who transitioned and then moved to non-binary because the transition didn't fit either. Time is the activists worst enemy here.

So as soon she got Psychological help, her real issues were clarified. But because of the insistence on trans affirmation, none was available - even permitted - before surgery?

gardenbird48 · 25/06/2020 08:35

this is such a sad situation - I'm wondering what the difference (if any) is between gender dysphoria and other psychological/physical mismatches like anorexia or Body Dysmorphic Disorder or Misidentification Syndromes. All seem to be conditions where the mind has a sometimes extreme difficulty in accepting an otherwise healthy body in its current form and concludes that it is the body that needs to be changed - most conditions get psychological treatment but gender dysphoria is the only one that gets affirmed and enabled. It is not ok to encourage an anorexic child to starve themselves, it is not ok to encourage someone with BDD to have surgery to fix it (it generally doesn't) so we do we applaud people wanting surgery to fix gender dysphoria?

BigChocFrenzy · 25/06/2020 08:26

Poor child

All those professionals who enable her transitioning are guilty of malpractice and child abuse

They had a duty of care to this child, which they failed to carry out and instead mutilated her

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 25/06/2020 08:23

The doctors only did the research after the surgery.

Sue them.

FannyCann · 25/06/2020 08:18

Also culpable are insurance companies who have been funding these surgeries, and then, in Penny's case at least, refuse to pay for "elective" reconstruction.

pigeon999 · 25/06/2020 08:15

Absolutely shocking. Poor thing has been completely let down by everyone around her. Thanks for sharing the information.

FannyCann · 25/06/2020 08:14

Just posted the go fund me to twitter.

Interesting about advice not to rush to further surgery.

I suppose at a minimum it is important to let hormones settle down and recover physical health.

Awning10 · 25/06/2020 08:13

They are also giving hysterectomies to trans people in their early 20s. I didn't think about having kids till I was mid 30s.

nauticant · 25/06/2020 07:53

That is indeed a wise comment AnotherLass.

AnotherLass · 25/06/2020 07:36

Just on the go fund me - i've seen a lot of detransitioners on twitter cautioning against rushing into having more surgery so quickly to try to reverse the previous surgery. They sound wise.

Dances · 25/06/2020 07:25

The people pushing this evil should be in jail.

Poor, poor girl. She has been failed by everyone around her and she is still blaming herself.

CaraDune · 25/06/2020 07:23

Penny, if you read this, you weren't responsible. You were a child and the adults around you were supposed to be there to protect you and prevent the (perfectly normal) confusions of adolescence leading to irreversible damage. They failed you.

The doctors should be up on malpractice suits and the grownups in society as a whole need to step forward and stop a small but vocal lobby group from making laws to allow children to commit to this sort of irreversible damage.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 25/06/2020 07:21

I could weep, the poor girl. We are going to see a whole generation of young women who were medically sterilised and mutilated, told they were not good enough all because of this ideology.

The lost girls.

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2020 07:18

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 25/06/2020 07:12

That a surgeon would do the surgery in itself is disgraceful

ErrolTheDragon · 25/06/2020 07:09

The legislature is culpable too. This sort of surgery is illegal on minors is illegal in many countries. If that child's wishes and doubts had been within a context where the surgery was illegal before 18 then there's a good chance she'd have got a proper diagnosis of her autism and not gone down this path.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/06/2020 07:05

Poor kid. Not 'the youngest woman' ... a girl.
Any surgeon who performs drastic surgically unnecessary procedures on anyone without an absolutely clear psychological diagnosis and with all other avenues fully explored should be sued to kingdom come and struck off for gross negligence. And they shouldn't be doing it to a child, period.

Thehollyandtheirony · 25/06/2020 06:44

The people facilitating this should be in prison.
