Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
SunsetBeetch · 24/06/2020 06:54

By clicking directly on a Pink News page, we're generating ad revenue for them though, stumbledin , not just attention. As I've just said in another thread, I'm beginning to think these crazy stories are calculated, as GC people are the only ones reading them these days Smile

TehBewilderness · 24/06/2020 00:07

I'm confused, Are the names of the drag performers that put on their show for children at the libraries a secret? Why would the library allow anonymous men in drag to put on a show for children without following required safeguarding policies?

stumbledin · 24/06/2020 00:04

In some ways, whether or not you click direct to PN or read an archived copy we give them the oxygen of publicity they need to keep going (there were rumours they were in financial trouble) by acknowledging them.

Maybe they once were a newspaper reporting information and facts. Now they are just some huge wind machine puffing air into the hot air balloon of trans activism.

The real problem is once one of their articles is available virtually it will be used as a reference source for future items in MSM. They wont bother to check, they will just use PN as fact.

This has been one of the biggest problems in trying to get any sort of rational reporting on the issue.

(I see they say they have asked mumsnet for a comment.)

Maybe one positive side effect of this might be that some people read the mumsnet thread and realise they agree with the comments!

Oh,cross post with TheInebriati0

SunsetBeetch · 23/06/2020 23:52

I use this site to archive. It's really easy: just copy the link into the box at the top:

archive.vn/

Yes, don't give Pink News clicks if you can help it. Don't give them the and revenue!

Thelnebriati · 23/06/2020 23:50

The two main archive sites are The Wayback Machine and Archive. Is, remember to check the link hasn't already been archived first.
Its also prudent to create a PDF of the webpage and save it in case the archive is deleted. Most web browsers have a plug in that will let you do that in one click.

web.archive.org

archive.is

OvaHere · 23/06/2020 23:50

Seeing as PN are specifically referencing MN it might be an idea for the OP @Dhalandchips to get this thread name changed to something more recognisable as I imagine some people will come looking to see what it was all about.

IAintentDead · 23/06/2020 23:46

I've just seen on Facebook, a good friend, who has seen the Pink News article and is calling Mumsnet all the names under the sun.

Never discussed the TWAW thing with her so don't know how she stands on it. Could be either way - she's youngish but also has a teenage daughter. I'd rather talk to her about it than enter a FB discussion but really want to put something.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 23/06/2020 23:27

There is a poster who talks about achieving and how to do it correctly, maybe moles?
There should be a continuously bumped thread on how to archive where to archive and advice not click on PN.

ShinyFootball · 23/06/2020 23:19

Something I don't get.

Drag etc was always a gay scene subversive thing.

If it's normalised isn't that half the fun gone?

Just wondering really, just occurred to me.

PumbaasCucumbas · 23/06/2020 23:06

It sounds like this person is very used to being told everything they do is wonderful.

unfortunately - publicise yourself online, post photos to SM, people will see them and not everyone will agree (or might actually have safeguarding concerns which are bigger than your ego).

It’s easy enough to put right, explain that you have safeguarding training and crb certificate, clean up your FB page and maybe apologise for the poor-taste name?

.....Or throw a tantrum?

It must be hard times for adult entertainers doing lockdown though, so you can’t completely blame Aida for protecting her goose with the golden eggs.

titchy · 23/06/2020 22:47

I’ve got some kids with my face on a poster in their bedroom

Such a decorating dilemma for little Tarquin's new room - Drag Queen Burlesque or Mama's and Papa's Lilibelle.

SerenityNowwwww · 23/06/2020 22:41

Was that a drag queen or a drama queen?

ShinyFootball · 23/06/2020 22:40

This person sees themselves as a role model?

That's some ego.

Enderthedragon · 23/06/2020 22:36

Across the more than 150 messages on the board, some suggested Samuel be “crucified”, some dug-up photographs from his personal social media account and others shared the barbed emails they sent to Field.

Right, firstly Josh, no one suggested that Samuel be 'crucified'. You have taken what someone said, which included the word 'crucified' meaning (dictionary definition) criticize (someone) severely and unrelentingly., and you have twisted it into something completely different.

Secondly, the photographs that were 'dug up' were not from his personal page, they were from the same page that he uses to advertise himself as a children's storyteller.

Thirdly, who cares if people shared the emails they sent?

But above all, as much as the bristling odyssey has plunged Samuel into paranoia, it’s the children he’s most concerned about.

“I can’t imagine being a child hearing about this Drag Queens Story Hour, being one of those kids, who is probably not within gender norms, to hear that it gets cancelled because there are haters out there, that would make the world seem so scary,” he said.

“I’ve got some kids with my face on a poster in their bedroom because I am that person that makes them feel safe and know that I am actually able to be that role model.

“To imagine that there’s going to be a kid in Leeds who was excited because there could be some sort of potential new role model to them. Somebody that they can actually relate to, to be told that they think they’re not allowed because it’s…” Samuel added, sighing wearily, his voice tinted by the exhaustion of the past 24 hours.

Oh yes, the children. Look mate, I have worked with young children for a long time now. This story time was for ages 2 and up. Kids aren't into drag queens, they just aren't. 2,3,4,5 year olds who would be doing a library story time would not have posters on their walls of a drag queen - they don't have the mental capacity to link it altogether at that age. Kids that age, particularly children with autism, wear dresses, make up etc and don't have a clue that it means anything. They don't need drag queens to validate their dressing up, because at that stage they don't understand that there is anything 'wrong' with dressing up. They don't give a shit if the person reading the story is dressed up as a grotesque caricature of a woman or as Peppa Pig, they want to listen to the story.

And then this:

In the daytime, Sab Samuel rallies to raise money for trans charities. At night, he has nightmares of being murdered by Mumsnet users.

I mean... really. It literally reads like satire.

ShinyFootball · 23/06/2020 22:31

The thing I find weird is the readiness of so many people to believe that large amounts of extreme violence are carried out by middle aged women Confused

Datun · 23/06/2020 22:28

Absolute unhinged and deranged nonsense.

The most ridiculous part is that anyone can read this open and public forum.

Still, gone are the days when this kind of batshit tantrum has the desired effect.

Crucifixion ! 🙄

titchy · 23/06/2020 22:22

Maybe someone quoted Life of Brian and they interpreted that as meaning they should be crucified? 🤷‍♀️

NotBadConsidering · 23/06/2020 22:18

Pink News seem to follow the mantra that if you get something out there and let it spread it doesn’t matter that the veracity of the story can be checked within a few minutes because their loyal followers will lap it up. Pure propaganda.

ShinyFootball · 23/06/2020 22:10

Yes it's definitely middle aged lefty women who go around murdering people in bizarre ritualistic ways....!

Enderthedragon · 23/06/2020 22:08

Woooooaaaaahhhhhhh! I think this has to be literally the most batshit thing I have read on the Internet. I'm pretty sure MNHQ would have grounds for sueing Pink News on this one - calling for his crucifixion? I actually laughed when I read this article, but it's not fucking funny actually and now I feel really angry. How dare they write and publish this? It's totally untrue, it's just bizarre. And the language and turn of phrase used, it reads like a year 8 creative writing piece in parts. The desperation is really ramping up.

I have said this before - I have never been in an abusive relationship, I have never seen someone twist things, deny, deflect, gaslight and outright fucking lie at times. I sort of imagined what it would be like, how strange it would be to go through. And now I see it with the TRAs, it's just so strange to watch.

NewAccountForCorona · 23/06/2020 21:54

I suspect doxxed means "they looked at my facebook page and sent screenshots to the library"

If there was nothing unsuitable on their social media pages, then there would have been nothing to complain about. Apart, obviously, from the rather inappropriate name Hmm

JemimaShore · 23/06/2020 21:53

Mumsnetters objecting to Drag Queen Story Time because of child safeguarding concerns does not equal "making threats" to him personally.

This is the only mention of 'crucifixion' I can find on that thread: I'm sorry but anyone also mocking ADHD would be crucified. Why do they get a pass? It's highly inappropriate. All of it.

If either the drag queen, or PN think that's a threat, they need new reading glasses and a reading comprehension class.

Or they're lying and looking to smear Mumsnet.

I wonder which it is?!

ShinyFootball · 23/06/2020 21:40

Or how about DH who is built like a brick shithouse telling them about his love for embroidering?

The drag thing may feel liberating for some men, and aware it is a very long term thing on the gay scene.
Doesn't do much for women though does it.
