I really hope this isn't true because this is the brass neck to beat all brass necks (link credit to several lovely Twitter posters) www.looper.com/217223/eddie-redmayne-reportedly-wants-j-k-rowling-let-go-from-fantastic-beasts-franchise/

If it is and I were JKR I'd make sure he never worked in film again, not that anyone would want to hire anyone who displayed this appalling behaviour - especially not someone as mediocre as Redmayne.

I'd like to know what was in the pancakes too...

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/06/2020 12:37

BTW - what is this "I can't believe what this man found in his pancakes" thing?

Beamur · 18/06/2020 12:27

If I was Eddie I would say nothing more.
I enjoyed the Fantastic Beasts films and he is good as Newt. It would be a shame if that changed because of a difference of opinion.
If he does come out and criticise JKR further it would surely make it very awkward to continue making the films.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 18/06/2020 12:19

No! Read the article

Maya Forstater, a discredited researcher at a London think tank whose public statements about trans people earned her a strong rebuke from the British courts and then of all weird double thinks Among the many reasons this is problematic, Rowling appears to be conflating sex and gender, which — according to a consensus of medical professionals — are two different things.

Redmayne has probably not said a bloody word... still trying to work out why there was a backlash after his last utterance!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/06/2020 12:14

If it isn't true why hasn't he repudiated it?

ErrolTheDragon · 18/06/2020 10:35

I'd never heard of Looper and CBA to find out what it is.

SunsetBeetch · 18/06/2020 08:52

I think I'd be taking some action against Looper if I was ER. They've made him look like an idiot.

LunaRabbit · 18/06/2020 08:48

I had to Google who Redmayne is. Dear Redmayne, no one cares about you.

Agrona · 18/06/2020 06:01

Looper also has a YouTube channel full of rather inaccurate content. It might be slightly more trustworthy than Vice (not that it is saying much).

NotBadConsidering · 18/06/2020 05:24

Yeah it won’t be true. Looper articles are embedded in the IMDb app and they’re all like this, speculative celebrity gossip.

TehBewilderness · 18/06/2020 05:07

It smells of click bait.

Kokeshi123 · 18/06/2020 04:53

"Hooray! That beast JKR has finally been sacked as screenwriter! Now we can get on with our rehearsals free from the presence of this awful bigot. Let's see, does anyone have a copy of the latest screenplay script?................................................................................................................................................................................oh wait, hang on a moment......"

Aclh13 · 18/06/2020 04:46

As much as her opinion might upset others that is her opinion, you cannot sack her when she is the creator how moronic. Eddie has always been a hypocrite - hence above references

bettybeans · 18/06/2020 04:22

There's a thousand Eddie Redmaynes, but there's only one JK Rowling. It might not be true but I have zero sympathy for him feeling uncomfortable if it is.

He isn't just an actor, he's a privileged little Etonian dweeb who saw fit to throw a woman to the sharks for his own benefit. Unforgivable. In any other set of circumstances this would be unacceptable to those who champion him doing it.

ItsLateHumpty · 18/06/2020 03:22

@SerenityNowwwww

Aren’t they off to the pub together (and about a thousand fans of both) after lockdown?
Yep, JKR invited him and 20 of his mates out with her and 20 of her mates for a piss up drink and I’m not jealous at all and if they let slip which pub, then yes eleventy million fans will be there too Grin

On the OP, this is the fakiest fake news in fake town. I’d say it’s wishful thinking for the wokerati.
Shame for Eddie that he’s getting dragged because of fake news after he stood up for the TRAs, but they are not known for GAS for their allies.

BatShite · 18/06/2020 00:10

Nah this cannot be true. He couldn't be THAT stupid surely.

Though if hes feeling guilty about earning money from such a horrible bigot, then he could always let someone else take his place. Oh, and the money he has made from JK is obviously dirty money, so maybe send the lot to mermaids or something right away. Holding breath.. Grin

LangClegTheBeardedVulture · 17/06/2020 23:48

I would take Looper with a pinch of salt as they are hot garbage.

KaronAVyrus · 17/06/2020 23:41

Old Etonian demands woman does as she’s told!

ErrolTheDragon · 17/06/2020 23:12

Never fails to amaze me he made it in the first place. I can't bear to watch him. Never understood the appeal.

I didn't see The Danish Girl; I thought he was fine in Fantastic beasts (only saw the first one), risible in Jupiter Ascending, and excellent in The Theory of Everything.

...so on that small sample I think he needs a great part, he's not the sort of actor who can mesmerise you while reading a shopping list iykwim.

MoltenLasagne · 17/06/2020 23:06

I quite like ER and don't believe this daft article is true. Mind you, I'm quite surprised he's on the TWAW bandwagon after watching the Danish Girl - it's practically an introduction to AGP. I think the treatment of the wife was intentionally eye opening too.

TitianaTitsling · 17/06/2020 22:48

*I really, really hated the Danish Girl. The lovely wife was treated so badly. In fact, the way was treated is a parallel to the way women are being treated now by transactivists.

I've also heard this. Haven't seen it, and don't want to.*
Same here, the whole 'emotionally tortured poor thing' with fuck all nod the wife may also be affected can do one!

AnyOldPrion · 17/06/2020 22:42

Newt Scamander, Redmayne’s role, is from the Harry Potter stories. There is no way in the world that he could call for her to be removed and he must know that. If the article suggested he was threatening to step down as Newt, it might be a possibility, but this is obviously nonsense.

nauticant · 17/06/2020 22:25

This thread gave me you won't believe what this man found in his pancakes which I'm delighted with.

It hasn't given me anything else though.

FamilyOfAliens · 17/06/2020 22:15

From Eddie Redmayne’s Twitter:

“Trans women are women, trans men are men and non-binary identities are valid." Eddie Redmayne, June 2020.

What an ego, signing himself off as if he’s the first person ever to spout this hackneyed bullshit..

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/06/2020 22:09

Most women were accepting of transsexuals who were attracted to men. It's the self-declared male lesbians and "lady-dick", who shout a lot, that tends to cause women to start to think about pulling up the drawbridge.

This.

I'm sure that all of the people who have been happy to accept TW have been envisaging those individuals who take hormones and have appropriate surgery - they never for a MOMENT imagined that fully male-bodied self-declared LESBIANS would be demanding access to women's safe spaces, or putting pressure on young gay girls to have sexual relationships with them, abusing them as transphobia if they refused.
