I work for an MP.

We’ve had very few emails about GRA in the last few years- mostly against self ID.

We’ve had 4 emails in the last few days all outraged at this attack on transgender people.
All very similar. It’s a campaign.

We must keep emailing so MPs don’t think everyone agrees with the TRAs.

(My MP is GC)

Please- email your MP and let them know your views.

Oh I'm confused. So it's not definite?

Fucksticks. I sent a "pleased to see single spaces protected" type thing as if it had already happened.

BarbarellaSilverSwimsuit · 17/06/2020 20:26

I emailed my MP (young-ish Tory male).

Just a brief email to say I was pleased to see the newspaper reports saying that Boris was going to scrap the changes to the GRA and that I hope he would be supporting this. I got a very prompt and brief but positive reply.

I actually followed it up with an email about ongoing financial abuse I'm dealing with at the hands of my ex. Without going into too much detail, police know it's him but can't get the hard evidence so nothing gets done. Abuse of this kind is only going to get more prevalent so I asked the MP if he could raise it or do anything to help. Got a really nice reply, acknowledging that what I'm going through is awful (gave him full details). He is raising it with government ministers to see if there's more the gov should be doing and will be in touch again.

He's worked with women's aid in the past so I'm hoping he really gets these issues.

Should we also contact Baroness Berridge for the Vale of Catmose? She's the Under-Secretary of State (Minister for Women). She has a contact form and email:

I've just done the Boris form too. Cut down my earlier letter as was quite long and basically just said I supported their pledge to protect single sex spaces because these personal reasons.

timetest · 17/06/2020 20:13

Just emailed mine. Helen Whately Tory.

FantaOra · 17/06/2020 20:05

I know I will be slated for being too confident but I don't think the Committe have got this far without becoming wise to the tactics and are not ready with answers to the challenges. Lot's of incredibly knowledgeable people have engaged with them and they will have come a long way since Maria Miller's gullibility. The TWAW bollocks from Penny Mordaunt saw her moved aside swiftly.

It's going ahead, they have been signaling this for a long time now, I just think the TWAW were too complacent and too busy describing us as cranks and bigots.

ThatLockdownLyfe · 17/06/2020 19:41

Done.

Feel like a child playing at being a grown up but done.

BaronessSnippyPantsofCroneArmy · 17/06/2020 19:40

I know Twitter is a cesspit, but we can't let the TRAs own it.
Thanks to ReSisters and WomenUniting for putting this together:

Emailed my MSP, Boris and Truss. Now just seen a pic of said MSP on Twitter with the stunning and brave Scottish Trans Alliance. Confused

Just done mine. He responded last time so we'll see.
Positively?

Semi. Acknowledged my concerns but ended with waffle. I didn't beat around the bush this time and told him that safeguarding was not bigotry and he'd do well to look at the work of baroness Nicholson so he understood what was happening in schools too. He has several young daughters.

Thisismytimetoshine · 17/06/2020 19:08

Yes, I know. I refuse to be labelled as cis, because others refuse to accept the reality of their own sex.

SerenityNowwwww · 17/06/2020 19:07

Letter /email generation are actually very easy to spot and block - fools.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/06/2020 19:06

Fanta Grin

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/06/2020 19:05

I don't even claim to be a cisgender...

That's what Fanta meant. It's not an identity label I personally adopt.

FantaOra · 17/06/2020 19:05

I saw on Twitter that GI were boasting their letter generator had sent 20,000 email to Boris. They do know that Dominic Cummings is his chief of staff don't they? They will have set up automated trash filing for the email in the first five minutes.

Then today's wheeze was to call your MP and speak with them directly.

Hello, I'm Toni Harrison.

MP
Hello Tony

Toni
I want to tell you how angry I am the government wants to stop me from going in womens changing rooms and toilets, I've been doing it for years.

MP
Er OK.

Toni
Are you going to start policing my genitals. How else are you going to stop me?

MP
.......

Hahahaha.

SerenityNowwwww · 17/06/2020 19:04

You can Cis my arse.

Thisismytimetoshine · 17/06/2020 18:58

I don't even claim to be a cisgender...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/06/2020 18:57

We don't claim to be speaking for cisgenders, wouldn't dream of it. What are they anyway?

Exactly. Cisgenders can speak for themselves. Women will too.

FantaOra · 17/06/2020 18:50

That letter to Liz Truss, it is so ridiculous you just have to laugh.

As cisgender women, we are angry that these groups claim to speak for us

We don't claim to be speaking for cisgenders, wouldn't dream of it. What are they anyway?

and try to justify their bigotry against a vulnerable minority in our name

OK, it seems you are not talking about us after all, as we are tolerant of opinions other than ours and some of us are vulnerable minorites.

It is disturbing to hear an equalities minister repeat their talking points almost word for word while outlining plans to reform trans rights.

The minister is using the feedback from the consultation word for word, is that not how cisgenders expected it to work?

Alltheprettyseahorses · 17/06/2020 18:49

*related to GRA issues I should say!

Alltheprettyseahorses · 17/06/2020 18:47

I've contacted my MP about 4 separate issues in the past year and not had a single response despite following up. What else can I do?

dayoftheclownfish · 17/06/2020 18:39

Also just emailed. Labour MP, splinters in bottom from fence-sitting, but every little helps.

TorchesTorches · 17/06/2020 18:35

Just emailed my (labour) MP, thanks for the prompt.

I emailed her last in this about 2 years ago and she sounded a bit twaw-y so I dont have much hope.

I referenced the JK Rowling news and said about biological sex mattering to women and girls. I asked her flat out if she believed twaw. Let's see
