Just wondering if anyone's seen this on Twitter. Quite a funny, interesting thread, eg

#AskDanielRadcliffe When was the last time you showed solidarity with trans activists by dating a trans woman, and what steps are you taking to unlearn your genital preferences?

Is the first one that showed up when I clicked. Sorry if it's old news.

The Ask Daniel Radcliffe hashtag started off at the weekend, as satire, to show that women's biology exists, and matters.

It will/has turned into a battleground now it's trending.

That's what women are normally told to do.

Here's a couple of screenshots taken from right at the top of the hashtag. Directed at JK Rowling, and a woman who has been designated a 'terf'.

It's always fascinating to read the spluttering of a poster that understands about a quarter of what it is they are so confidently posting on.

Women talking about female biology is completely horrible and transphobic according to TRAs.

Women just be told to shut up, and that they're called menstruators now Hmm

OneEpisode · 15/06/2020 21:01

The TRAs certainly think the hashtag is “full of hate”. They are warning their allies not to click.
The GC side is mostly women’s life themed, about the mirena coil etc. There are some directly GC posts, for instance Karen White photos and “is this a woman?”. But a minority. The TRA side also seems quite clean, rainbow unicorns and “do you prefer slugs or snails.
I guess it seems weird that someone would characterise a tweet about the mirena coil advice as hateful. None of these have been sent to DR, though his name is in the hashtag.
I have never been a celebrity so I don’t really know how DR would be reacting to this.

JemimaShore · 15/06/2020 21:00

The TRAs and jokers have found it now - didn't take long for what started as a gentle piss-take to get really nasty.

EarlofEggMcMuffin · 15/06/2020 20:59

Ok I get the bit about the coercion of lesbian people to accept "TWAW therefore they should be in your dating pool".
And that's awful- as I said above you're attracted to who you find attractive.

But, there's a point in the responses to Emma W and Daniel R that I dont like- when it becomes personal attacking the person.
He's not going to date a TW (in all likelihood....I know as much about DR's personal life as would fit on my little toe).
And I think it weakens women's arguments to drop to that level.

JemimaShore · 15/06/2020 20:54

It's a way to point out the hypocrisy of someone's statement.

When I last looked, nobody had told him to suck a dick, or abused him. It's ok to ask "why/why not?"

The point is that nobody has sunk to that level.

Feminists don't go around telling people to "suck their dick."

TRAs do. With remarkable regularity.

DrDavid that is an appalling post. Why would you even fucking post that?

Oh fgs. Have you seen the internet lately??

That's exactly what JK Rowling was sent by hundreds of TRAs when she dared post that sex is real.
