@AvaMonroe

Where did I claim it was a documentary? I just said it was educational and informative which it is. If I am to assume you are a cis woman, You have no right to speak for anyone in the LGBTQ+ community especially not trans people as you haven't walked the walk. For those saying Marsha was identifying as a gay male the P stood for "Pay it no mind" aka mind your own business as to how I identify, Keep hold of those straws though. Absolutely pathetic carry on.
Stop calling us cis - it's offensive.

Nobody born male has walked the walk of anyone born female. It works both ways.

Did you really mean that lesbians have no right to speak for anyone in the LGBTQ+ community? Riiiiight....

Deltoids1 · 15/06/2020 15:55

Stop with the c*s word. It’s really offensive and erases our identity.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/06/2020 15:55

aka mind your own business as to how I identify,

Perhaps you should apply that to women who don't want to be called "cis"?

Is it equally as important to raise female children to always give up their rights when a man tells them to? Should we raise our female children to have no boundaries? Should we teach them that biology is meaningless? Should we disgrace them for not wanting to undress in front of a man? Tell them they are little bigots if they don’t want a male doctor?
Should we whizz them off to the Tavy if the one with a penis likes to wear a tutu? Or the non-man picks up a train?
I’ll continue to teach mine that biology is real, that gender is big hairy bollocks, and that they should not be confined by their bodies. Your body is what you are given it. Love it! Be proud of who you are and accept it.
I’m reasonably lucky. My one child who is more vulnerable to the social contagion (disabled and already different) is also a sportsperson. She found the trans rhetoric very powerful until we had a conversation about her switching to compete with her male peers. Or one of them switching to compete with the women. ‘Be kind’ is less compelling when it really means ‘haha there goes your chances of the Olympics, love’
I’m not affirming and rushing off to get her on lifelong drugs. We talk in realities.
Trans people deserve much better healthcare and to live free of abuse. But women are allowed to have boundaries that exclude males. It is not bigoted to believe in biology and to use your lived experience as a woman to campaign to keep your necessary rights.
We know a good few trans people. Get on fabulously. Not raising any bigots. So take your faux concern for my children and my friends elsewhere.
The adherence of transpeople to gender ideology is the biggest hurdle. You don’t have to claim to be female just because you don’t fit the masculinity box. Widen that bandwidth. Smash the gender binary. You can’t break biology. On a hiding to nothing there.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/06/2020 15:49

It was a "d" word - might have been "degenerates" - you get the idea.)

Pretty sure you had it right first time Annie.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/06/2020 15:48

It's very disheartening as a trans woman to read some of the replies from those that are cis.

Don't label women offensively against our will. We don't identify with "cis". Your posts using it may be deleted as it's considered an antagonistic term here.

ArcheryAnnie · 15/06/2020 15:44

AvaMonroe you do realise Pose is fiction, right? It might have a lot of truth in it, and in the ball culture depicted, but it isn't a documentary.

You don't seem to be aware of gay history, or even of the reality of the current LGBT communities. There's a lot of gay, lesbian bi and trans people who would be baffled at your statements. It's not "bigotry" to tell the truth.

AvaMonroe · 15/06/2020 15:21

I recommend watching Pose, It is very informative and educational viewing. It is our responsibility to any children in our lives to not raise them to be bigots.

TheSingingKettle49 · 15/06/2020 15:19

@nicelegs

Yes, this part particularly annoyed me too

it also opened up the possibility of increased harassment of women in public restrooms who weren’t transgender but who didn’t dress or present in a ‘feminine’ way

I am the same height and weight as the average man, I’ve previously had very short hair and I used to wear men’s jeans and baggy t-shirts because it’s not always easy to get the right leg length, I have never ever been mistaken for a man.

I used to work with a woman who was 6ft5in and built like a rugby player, no one could have mistaken her for a man because women’s bodies are different to men’s. The way the hips move when we walk, the size and shape of the thighs, the more delicate appearance of the hands, fingers and jaw line, the smaller forehead, narrower waist and shoulders.

AND quite frankly I’d be happier to be mistaken for a man and say I’m a woman actually, than to be sexually assaulted by a predatory man in a public loo, if those are my only two options!

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2020 15:16

And Cis is an offensive term.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2020 15:16

But it is a lie. The man given the credit that belongs to Storme Delarverie was not trans, and referred to himself as a gay man.

AvaMonroe · 15/06/2020 15:13

It's very disheartening as a trans woman to read some of the replies from those that are cis. Claims that black trans women started the gay rights movement as lies is an absolute disgrace and I can only hope none of you have trans children for their sake.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 15/06/2020 15:08

From Mermaids' response – which, incidentally, appears to have been drafted by a pre-school child:

Surely it is clear, looking across LGBT+ organisations and taking a cursory glance at the response to your blog that the overwhelming majority of young people and LGB people support trans rights

JKR supports trans rights: completely and unequivocally.

To address the core of your point, trans rights do not come at the expense of women’s rights.

They do: that's the whole problem!

And, as you will have seen, it is transgender adults who are made to feel afraid in modern British society

Firstly, please don't tell me what I've seen: you don't know! Who else is made to feel afraid in modern British society? That would be .... women!

Your objection to trans rights

JKR was NOT objecting to trans rights.

‘The observations in this paper do not support the belief that most women are against transgender females using female bathrooms: we find that, in the sampled population, about 70% of cisgender female users post non-negative comments, and about a half of the negative comments by cisgender females are incidental

Cockcustard. I don't believe that. And FFS, do NOT refer to me as cisgender: 'woman' will do fine.

it also opened up the possibility of increased harassment of women in public restrooms who weren’t transgender but who didn’t dress or present in a ‘feminine’ way

I'm one of 'em. For the dignity and safety of ALL women, it's a price that I'm prepared to pay. I'm a minority. I don't expect my rights to trump those of the general female population.

Additionally, the study finds that reports of privacy and safety violations in public restrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms are exceedingly rare.

Oh come on. The majority of women wish to retain their privacy and dignity by excluding males from single sex spaces. A quick show of hands would demonstrate that.

Since 2010, If predators have used the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 to gain access to women’s spaces, we are not aware of it

You wouldn't be would ya? You've got your fingers in your ears, singing LA,LA,LA.

Men who prey on vulnerable women are a worldwide problem, but this has nothing whatever to do with trans people.

Well it does, doesn't it? Transwomen are, in fact, men.

Yes, there is the case of Karen White, a transgender woman who sexually assaulted two women while on remand at New Hall jail in Wakefield, but it cannot be ignored that this represented an inexcusable breakdown in prison safeguarding security and processes rather than a reason to class transgender women as a threat.

I'm fairly unlikely to be sent to prison. Who's safeguarding all the other single-sex spaces for me?

This research shows that trans women are no more a threat to women than other cisgender women.

More cockcustard. Transwomen offend at the same rate as the general male population. Why wouldn't they? They're ....well, male!

The Stonewall report ...

Don't even go there. Stonewall is a vile, misogynistic organisation.

I could go on but .... I feel that I've made my point Angry

Clymene · 15/06/2020 14:58

Emma Watson, not Emily! Emily is a wonderful actress and not a woke one trick pony

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2020 14:44

Donate to mermaids, not don’t. Sorry for typos, I am dealing with children at the same time.

Lordfrontpaw · 15/06/2020 14:37

It’s all woke cookies for her. Have rly seen her twitter account - all BLM and trans rights. She is a professional ‘right on’ gal.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2020 14:37

If Emily Watson knew anything at all about trans issues and the conflict with women’s rights, she wouldn’t be telling people to don’t to Mermaids.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2020 14:35

I don’t know. Not O.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2020 14:35

They seem fairly well connected with W Yorks Police, whether this is because they have been in and done “training” , or for another reason, O don’t know.

whatcolourisyourwednesday · 15/06/2020 14:32

"As for Mermaids - the tone of their statement is marginally better than they've put out before, "

I am a lawyer in a specialist field. My opponents often write back to me trying to mimick my tone because they haven't understood my facts as presented to them. This reminds me of that.

Lordfrontpaw · 15/06/2020 14:28

They do - trans people do too. But they seem to be untouchable. Didn’t they brag about (police) friends in high (low) places?

minniebinnie · 15/06/2020 14:03

@ArcheryAnnie do any high profile gay people call them out?

minniebinnie · 15/06/2020 14:02

Remember, Mermaids is the organisation responsible for gay conversion therapy.

I wasn't aware of this,
