Just checked out Joe McGann thanks to this thread. He's retweeted lots of tweets in favour of JKRc and also ones condemning the right wing thugs in London today. He seems a really decent person.

Cuntysnark · 13/06/2020 20:41

I’m sure Maajid Nawaz tweeted in support of JKR the other day.

hypernormal · 13/06/2020 20:40

It looks like he totally gets it, has posted a lot, definitely one to follow.

OldeMagick · 13/06/2020 20:23

[quote hypernormal]I can't see anywhere if Joe McGann has been mentioned:

Joe also stuck up for Glinner

There were 2. And I asked for my duplicate one tone deleted but the other one has gone now. Why?

Regardless of anyone's opinion of the person concerned an unauthorised leak of a report which is confidential to Rachel Ivy and her employer shouldn't be up for general discussion on here.

teaandtoast123 · 13/06/2020 19:19

I am not sure if this has already posted this but the guardian has an article condemning the Sun headline, especially when so many women are trapped in abusive relationships during lockdown. Apparently #dontbuythe sun is trending on Twitter. It also highlights JKR's stance on the need for single sex spaces where vulnerable women can feel safe.
I was shocked to see that the Editor of the Sun is a woman.

I started a new thread on Veronica Ivy - didn't realise there had already been one and that it was deleted. I suppose mine will go soon too.

Bearing in mind that I seem to be slow off the mark today, did others see that David Tennant and David Beckham were reading Chapter 11 of the first Harry Potter to fans?

t1lly · 13/06/2020 18:31

David Aaaronovitch, Times writer, has been very supportive, pushing back on a lot of misogyny. I could swear I saw Stephen Fry post something pro JKR this morning, about she is a good friend and one of the nicest people he knows. But if he did he rapidly deleted it.

borntohula · 13/06/2020 18:10

Wow, some trans women are not doing the community any favours. That's a very 'angry male' thing to say, imo.

tobee · 13/06/2020 17:59

Shouldn't that twitter comment be blocked for inciting violence? A la Trump the other day?

Flootered · 13/06/2020 17:52

And people are actually donating to this persons surgery fund!!

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 13/06/2020 17:50

And yeah, epic responses!

BertieBotts · 13/06/2020 17:50

Honestly this list is reassuring!

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 13/06/2020 17:49

I did more than gasp. I made a horrible growling snarling noise so loudly that DDin the next room, asked me what the matter was...

OldeMagick · 13/06/2020 17:48

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman

I almost threw my phone across the room when I read that Pullman Twitter screenshot. Misconstruing Simone De B like that. I wasn't born a woman but I was born female. I am so tired of men framing the debate about what a woman is, and getting shitty when women disagree.

Sorry. Off topic. Venting.

The responses were great though Grin
Fanthorpe · 13/06/2020 17:46

Pullman’s quote made me gasp. Maybe he read it on a poster or something. My god.

Gillian Martin has to be very careful on these issues, she's already lost a ministerial position for old posts: www.google.com/amp/s/www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/news/local/new-north-east-education-minister-apologises-for-calling-transgender-students-hairy-knuckled-lipstick-wearing-transitional-laydees1/amp/

@Awning10

Philip Pullman on Twitter:

Quite right. I don't agree with her position, but the response she had was utterly disgusting. That degree of demented verbal sadism is an indication of something seriously wrong somewhere.

I don't trust or like Pullman.

However, Owen Jones and chums would say supporting women's rights means hatred of trans. 🙄

Well done Robert Webb. After the shit time he’s had with his health and previous kicking over this, I’m really impressed he’s said anything about the issue.
