Dana International.

Though, while supportive, didn't actually condemn the vicious responses to JKR.

and its a generational thing because the reaction can be career-destroying- no one young should have to face that.

Absolutely disgusting. It's McCarthyism. It's the Stasi. It's Soviet. It's Nineteen Eighty-Four. It's vile and it's ten thousand kinds of wrong.

It is a generational thing, because a great deal of effort had already been put into brainwashing kids before adults noticed.

MissLawls · 15/06/2020 16:51

We really need some prominent young people to stand up for JKR. Doesn't matter what they're famous for but we badly need some young women under 30 to say they loved JKR as a kid reading her books and they love her even more now.

It's great so many have stood up for JKR but I don't think anyone under 30 has? Or even under 40. I'm concerned this becomes a generational thing.

Side note - I am still angry about how Labour has treated Trevor Phillips, and that article is a good example of why. He's one of the only politicians who I can remember from childhood who I've never lost respect for.

DidoLamenting · 15/06/2020 15:31

Trevor Phillips.

I posted this on another thread yesterday. Although not GC, she is calling out the abuse.

Sadly Tim Minchin was pressed about which author/article he was defending and then said it was Julia Baird regarding statue removals

Cismyfatarse1 · 15/06/2020 11:08

Tim Minchin has just posted a long thread about reading things and then reading again before using Twitter.

Thanks @boatyardblues Smile

boatyardblues · 14/06/2020 02:02

There’s a share token on the thread about the article in FWR.

HeIsAVeryBadBoy · 14/06/2020 01:20

Anyone got a share token and a link to the poll?

OldeMagick · 14/06/2020 00:02

RyanBergarasTeeth · 13/06/2020 23:59

The actress Catherine Russell retweeted JKRs post, and got a mixed bag of responses, including some pretty vile ones (the usual). But she’s kept the tweet up so good for her.

James O'Brien @Cuntysnark?

Cuntysnark · 13/06/2020 21:06

It looks like Shelagh Fogarty supports JKR too. I need to stop looking at LBC people as I’m likely to come across that misogynist who was too stupid to understand the issue a year or two back.

Cuntysnark · 13/06/2020 21:00

That’s the one Magick. He knows a thing or two about being radicalised so doubt he’ll waver. Must send him a card too.
