I remember seeing a TRA on twitter responding to arguments about FGM by saying it was important but a “cis problem”. As if girls could just ID their way out of FGM.

Argh!!! It's time women started telling the Twitter nobodies to fuck off. The vast majority of the human population do not use Twitter. Why is everyone acting like demands made on Twitter have to be listened to? How much power do we keep conceding to keyboard bullies who have nothing else better to do with their time and nothing of worth to contribute to society other than to badger prominent women with their batshit demands? No is a complete sentence.

I'm no fan of circumcision but seriously, in order to be comparable to what fgm does you'd have to pretty much remove the whole penis.

I've been full of rage all this week so far, I feel like it's eating me. This is far beyond wrong. Not going to engage with these picks on twitter (and think I'm still blocked until I give them a mobile number anyway) but would love to know where to focus this rage for best effect (safely, perhaps anonymously, I need my job)

Yeah. I think male and female circumcision are different enough in effect, and they also come out of quite different purposes generally speaking, that you really need to treat them as separate.

Hibo is brilliant. It's shocking that they would target this woman and this campaign.

There really is no depths they won't plummet to.

If men want to campaign about boys being cut they should go ahead. There would doubtless be heck of alot of support from near enough everyone .

But they really need to stop piggy backing on stuff done by women about women and girls . Nothing in the world is stopping them from doing it about boys themselves

The two things are done for entirely different reasons.

Whereas boys absolutely should be left alone I find it disturbing that they would do it without medical necessity, but we do need to be able to discuss what happens to little girls without having to centre boys in order for anyone to give a shit it happens

Maybe forced is better. I massively disagree with male circumcision as well, and forced might open up the debate on this.
