Pro-woman is just a euphemism for transphobic

Exactly that.

Transgender people are not eroding our rights as women. Although, the people making such spiteful and ignorant comments and talking about trying to stop them getting recognized as women are eroding their rights to be accepted, respected equal. Do you all honestly think that by speaking out AGAINST transgender people, you are going to be declared as heroes?

And what happened to be kind?

I mean I supposed a few women being raped or assaulted is fine really as long males get to do what they want.....

surely not, because that would be good old fashioned male supremacism - where those born male just had a higher value and social priority than those born female.

After all, that's what law around female equality was designed to end.

Enderthedragon · 10/06/2020 17:22

you’ll always find extreme examples if you look hard enough.

So women are collateral damage for males being allowed to do whatever they want, go wherever they want, even into the spaces that are supposed to keep women safe? Yeah, I mean I supposed a few women being raped or assaulted is fine really as long males get to do what they want.....

Do you think that prisons should be mixed sex generally then, if it doesn't matter if some 'extreme examples' slip through the net?

Am also still interested to know why you think Ms Choke on my Dick shouldn't be allowed in female changing rooms if Ms Choke on my Dick 'identifies as a woman'? Because you do realise that is incredibly transphobic?

Burgundy1844 · 10/06/2020 17:19

@backseatcookers I’m not the OP, but I’m happy to say:

“those tweets are abusive and threatening in tone and that they are completely unacceptable.”

Michelleoftheresistance · 10/06/2020 17:19

Safeguarding law is built on the extreme examples, partly because they point out the loopholes - which White has - and partly to prevent them becoming normal examples causing massed repeated suffering. Because a decent society protects the needs and interests of its citizens.

Entire laws were changed following Ian Huntley. That was only one incident.

FatalSecrets · 10/06/2020 17:19

It's interesting the comments about the samey nature of the threads.

IMO they always go the same way - well thought out discussion from one side, whilst the others scream "transphobe" and conveniently manage to ignore any question addressed of them that they can't answer.

That's the sort of debating technique one loses quite swiftly in Year 7.

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 10/06/2020 17:19

Call me old fashioned but I don’t think you should be able to find ANY cases of women locked into prisons or secure psychiatric units with male rapists that they cannot escape from.

Winesalot · 10/06/2020 17:18

Burgundy

And ItslateHumpty's post about the AIBU is further proof that you are so wrong in that the wider MN boards which encompass 'the outside world' do not support women's rights being upheld for females.

There are many reasons others don't post here, but that is not to say that many have never visited and read quietly to form their opinions either way.

backseatcookers · 10/06/2020 17:17

Are the people who wrote the tweets in this picture in need of your Be Kind message too OP?

Would you publicly call them out on their behaviour in these tweets too?

It would be so refreshing for you to unequivocally say that those tweets are abusive and threatening in tone and that they are completely unacceptable.

And by the way, by saying pro woman = transphobic you're implying pro trans = woman phobic. Do you consider yourself that?

Did you all remember the part where White sexually assaulted at least two women (that he was charged with) while having self ID'd into a female prison...

while on remand awaiting trial for the rapes committed on a female mental health ward where he'd also self IDd. One of the women there was raped multiple times and left so badly injured she may not be able to have children.

So even because the sole reason for being in prison at all was using self ID to rape women in women's provision, White was returned to female provision.

Females have rights too. Not to be locked up with White is one of them, regardless of how White feels about that.

PurpleCrowbarWhereIsLangCleg · 10/06/2020 17:13

If I'm going to choke on anything, I'd probably rather it was gin.

Gone 6pm where I am now, not too early is it?

PumbaasCucumbas · 10/06/2020 17:13

Maybe it would be more accurate to say

penis-where-I’m-vulnerable-and-don’t-want-or-expect-one-phobic

every time someone says transphobic

At the moment my right to be Pwivadwoeo-phobic is protected by law. Why should I die in a grease fire for stating/supporting this?

And why should women stop using the word woman with relation to their female functions because some people can’t cope with the fact that some uniquely difficult and sometimes unpleasant things only happen to females, not to mention the women and girls the world over who are raped, abused, mutilated, attacked with acid, owned and killed because of their sex.

Far from #bekind, the aggressive, misogynistic language of TRA’s really doesn’t do anything to dispel our fears, gain our trust or advance their cause of being accepted as women. They clearly don’t want ‘admittance’ to our sex class, just to dominate it and subjugate us. And as good little women we should enable that?

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 10/06/2020 17:11

I’d like to change in the places that don’t actively enable men to stick their heads (or phones) under the cubicle partition, ta.

(True story. First and last time I used a mixed sex ‘changing village’)

JemimaShore · 10/06/2020 17:10

Is it too early for alcohol?

I've had a bellyful of being told to "be nice" in the face of the rug being pulled from under my feet:

-proposed legal changes, incl to the definition of the word 'woman' which they tried to sneak through without even consulting women,

-shouted at to "STFU terf!" for talking about the reality of being born female,

-not allowed to talk female biology because apparently men can have periods too now

-"women can have penises too"

-witnessing hundreds upon hundreds of men with beards telling JK Rowling to suck their dicks .

OP, go tell the people (a lot of men with beards) abusing JK Rowling to 'be nice'. Go tell the people telling JKR to "suck my lady-dick" to be nice, and please stop abusing women talking about the reality of biological sex.

See where that gets you.

Datun · 10/06/2020 17:10

Burgundy1844

No datun obviously not and I suspect (or rather hope) that you know what a ridiculous point that is.

I wish it was ridiculous. A convicted rapist and a paedophile was given unfettered access to incarcerated women as part of their fucking sentence. Pic attached.

What part of this don't you understand??

You can't choose which men are acceptable, on the basis of their behaviour. No one can.

It's not part of the criteria.

You can't sit there and sift through them.

You can't say no voyeurs allowed. And expect anything to happen.

Sex offenders and rapists are, at this very moment in time, being held in female prisons where the women cannot escape. They are showering and changing with these women. Women, incidentally, 60% of whom have brain injuries, due to domestic violence.

What the hell do you think we are talking about??

Pro-woman is just a euphemism for transphobic
Floisme · 10/06/2020 17:10

Men could fix most of this if they wanted to.
Men could stop raping, attacking and ogling women so that we felt less vulnerable in shared spaces.
Men could top attacking transwomen for using the facilities that match their sex.

Take it up with them and, when you've sorted it, give us a shout.

ShinyFootball · 10/06/2020 17:09

I don't get why, how, or by what mechanism ms choke on my dick would be excluded from female spaces under the self ID twaw model.

Confused.

Michelleoftheresistance · 10/06/2020 17:08

Where do the unfriendly people change?

That's always an interesting one. Should people you don't agree with and don't like, and who don't think like you also be entitled to civil rights? Provision? Equality?

Winesalot · 10/06/2020 17:08

I guarantee when I pop back in a few months it will be the same people spouting the same stuff. You know who you are

Then you probably haven't noticed that whenever there is a discussion about topical events that do actually involve women losing single spaces and things like the right to choose a female hcp, it is overwhelmingly in support of keeping these female rights. And it is quite an eyeopener that it is people who rarely come to these boards who are in support.

And I have only been visiting Mumsnet for a short time and I have noticed that there are plenty of past posters who don't post very often anymore or at all and it cycles to have new posters who come in.

And plenty of goaders though. And plenty who join to only do that or namechange to only do that.

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 10/06/2020 17:07

So many accusations of bigotry without evidence. Just a bunch of posters telling us to #bekind or shut up.

Fuck that noise.

littlbrowndog · 10/06/2020 17:06

Yes please gin.

ShinyFootball · 10/06/2020 17:06

'I think if a person has experienced trauma that makes them struggle to be around men then I'd like them to have access to a woman's only space, but I don't personally care for them.

The people who have treated me the worst have almost exclusively been women. It's attitude that matters more than gender. Friendly spaces are more important to me than what the people inhabiting them have between their legs.'

I think this poster was saying they don't care for single sex changing, not that they don't care for the women!

I'm interested in this approach.

You want, and prefer mixed sex changing for all, but only friendly people.

How do you know which people are friendly and which are not?
Where do the unfriendly people change?

It's an interesting idea. Certainly many women in here have pointed out that mixed sex changing etc across the board would probably be safer than having 'women's' things and saying men can come in if they choose... Which kind of men will choose? We'd be safer with all men, than that.
