I don’t post on these threads but I do read them.
I, as a biological woman, have been raped, attacked, verbally attacked, intimidated by and abused physically and emotionally by biological males. The statistics show that the greatest threat to biological women are biological males.
Trans men and trans women are at risk... from biological males.
Because of the trauma I have endured from biological males, both on a personal level and on an intellectual level due to the overwhelming statistics, I will never support self ID, because it is so open to abuse from
Biological males.
The problem isn’t women denying trans women access to their safe spaces, the problem is that biological men are so violent that safe spaces are needed. Society needs to evolve radically so biological men are no longer a threat, but that will never happen because that would involve removing their power.
To paraphrase JK Rowling, I stand with trans people against bigotry and violence. I believe fervently that no one should suffer at the hands of another... but until something changes to stop the pervasiveness of the predatory nature of biological men, I will never feel unable to surrender women’s only spaces.
I don’t know how that aligns with the beliefs of the women arguing so eloquently here, I’m not clever enough to get my head round all of it.
