I also saw that Philip Pullman has made a very quiet foray in to The Terfdom. He made a one line reply (somethign like "I don't understand why everyone is angry with JKR either"; which angered the gender extremists; and then this one too: twitter.com/PhilipPullman/status/1270105447924727808

The tweet I originally saw is the one mentioned in the opening line of this excellent blog by excel pope: excelpope.wordpress.com/2020/06/09/northerner-illuminates

It’s also telling that DR can state his opinion without fear of what the repercussions may be, Emma Watson on the other hand will be torn apart whichever side she supports. Wonder what the difference is between them ....

PamDenick · 10/06/2020 09:15

The more I think about it, the more outraged I am about DR.

If you think of the experiences of Daniel, Rupert and Emma growing up, it wasn't Daniel or Rupert who were openly objectified once they hit their teen years. (looking at your Russell Howard). It wasn't Daniel or Rupert who had paps up skirting them once the turned 18 (sexual assault?), it wasn't Daniel or Rupert who bravely stood up as a UN ambassador and faced backlash for suggesting some men might want to stand up for women (HeforShe campaign). What would Daniel's campaign be? HeforHewhowanttobeSheswhilstshuttingdownbiologicalShes? I'm so disappointed in the Boy who Mansplained.

Thank you, Jo, for being so very brave. 💐 All my respect and admiration. Flowers

All the Flowers for JK from me. She's brave, and true and I love her for it. The silence from so-called feminists on twitter is a total disgrace. I will remember who spoke out and who didn't. And as for that pip squeak 'apologising' for her, well done for ruining the career you owed to JK anyway.

What name can we have for women who don’t have penises?
I’m going for Double Xers.

Ah posted too soon.

Was rambling on a bit. Point made. Commonplace, everyday point.

My boss was already pissed off because I got pregnant not long after starting the job. So he had to go to the whole rigmarole of finding someone new and training them in mere months later. Not a high powered job by any means, he didnt have to head hunt the greatest in their field from, like, Geneva or New York to replace me. Just an ordinary girl in an office type job for a builder. But he was the type who believed in doing it once and doing it right. (If anyone is looking for a builder I guess that's a good recommendation??!) So doing again 6 months later annoyed him. In fairness he wasnt a bollix about it. He did try to hide his annoyance, but i was just another problem, like weak shuttering or insufficient aggregate.

Imagine his delight when I came back from maternity leave - late, that very morning!
I had suffered a birth injury, you see. I had a change of clothes with me of course, thinking it was enough. Even now, 8 years later, anonymously, I'm too embarrassed to explain, exactly what happened.

Anyway, I had to go home, make a fresh start at Monday morning. Late. To an already pissed off boss. That set the tone I think.

I also remember absolutely RUSHING home to a bottle refusenik baby. Cant wait. Cant send that email or check that invoice today. Breasts solid and burning. Patches on my top. Baby wailing and wailing. I always thought I'd breast feed while I was on maternity leave, best for baby if you can manage it. Plan was to switch to bottles and milky food

I've just been on Philip Pullman's Twitter thread (thank you for the link upthread) and found that there are many GC voices on there, as well as the many TRA voices.

But this tweet stood out as absolutely typifying what is at the base of all of this.

He might just as well have written "Women! Stop talking, your voices do not matter, you will not be heard".
