I can't tell you how much I have always loved JK Rowling, I own everything she's ever written, and have long looked up to her as such a strong and compassionate role model.

I love her even more now. In an interview once, she said of all things she admired, she admired bravery the most. And she is brave.

Thanks Thanks Thanks

I've decided to send an actual note in the post tomorrow. With luck I'll be able to keep my scrawl legible. In case I can't, thanks from me too, JK

Thanks Cara

My email included a bit of detail about my own professional situation (written on a tide of fury!) so I think I'll edit it down to a simpler thank you. Sending it in my real name still feels risky, but courage calls to courage and I am so sick of the rank hypocrisy and misogyny.

Let’s suggest a webchat with Daniel Radcliffe Grin

I don’t know who would enjoy that less - Justine or Daniel GrinGrin I would flipping love it 😂

Here's an extra special vulva flower - for a woman with a vulva, from a woman with a vulva.
Well done JKR!! At least some people out there talk with some common sense!

An entire Covent Garden of flowers for JK Flowers Flowers Flowers

Can I ask those who have had replies if they come from someone at the publishers, or is it her personal team? I drafted an email this morning but I am an author and am afraid that all the reasons I can't be open about this on twitter will still apply if her emails are handled by Bloomsbury. UK publishing is a tiny world, and my twitter timeline today proves it is a ridiculously woke one Angry

Mine was signed off "Office of JK Rowling", if that helps.

Know what you mean about publishing (I follow a few authors on Twitter).

I wonder if we can get a message to DR about information released today by two respected charities: Water Aid and Plan International...

They have released data that women and girls are restricted during this lockdown from going out due to no public toilets.

Daniel, being an expert in menstruation, will appreciate that women and girls plan ahead before they go out as access to clean toilets is very much needed when their is a requirement for sanitary products. Women who have experienced childbirth ( obvs including trans women) will appreciate that urge incontinence is a huge issue and public toilets are necessary.
Perhaps he could support these charities?

Flowers and a massive hug - alongside my thanks.

Blossom513 · 09/06/2020 21:24

@Maria53
That's lovely, that sounds like it could have been JK directly. I literally just got 'dear blossom, thank you for your email and support, kind regards office of JK Rowling' so took mine to be someone on her PR team.

cherrytreeblossom I think my daughter (14) has also drunk the kool aid, and I thought she was a feminist. The world has gone mad.

Flowers Thank you so much for using your platform despite all the vitriol you receive.

As a millennial I feel so alone in my friends group who have drunk the kool aid, but I am hoping to channel some of your courage and have the necessary conversations.

Binterested · 09/06/2020 21:03

Meg I think it’s because most people aren’t on Twitter. They don’t know how extreme the demands are. They don’t know how horrific the abuse is. They don’t know about the complicity of our politicians. None of this is being reported in MSM.

meg70 · 09/06/2020 20:48

Thank you Jo. Because of your bravery I msgd a few (female and feminist) friends and family today, to spread the word. I honestly don't think people outside of mumsnet know what this is all about. Received mixed reactions but none were what I was hoping for. I tried very hard to explain it. People don't get the huge ramifications for women and girls because - I guess - it sounds like madness. I'm starting to think that (like BLM) if we stay quiet we're part of the problem?
