Here he is again - sticking up for the side of rationality!!

The BTL comments are heartening too.

Pullman did the “oh I don’t know about this It’s a tricky question” thing before too Hmm he is in a similarly untouchable position to JK but doesn’t have her guts.

He’s a huge disappointment to me.

youkiddingme · 08/06/2020 23:43

Everytime I see certain replies on twitter I really do have to yank my hand away from the keyboard before I find myself just typing 'don't talk bollocks' just everywhere...

Thisismytimetoshine · 08/06/2020 23:43

God, what a cowardly little fart Hmm

JamieLeeCurtains · 08/06/2020 23:38

Pullman is saying now he doesn't understand the furore.

CourtneyLurve · 08/06/2020 23:34

His eldest is lesbian and autistic. I think the younger one is straight as she's moaned about men not liking her because of her weight.

Thing is, neither of these kids have ever lived in the real world. The eldest at least went to uni, but the younger one currently spouting off has no qualifications, has never worked a day in her life and lives off her rich parents. She seems to spend most of her time posting god-awful 'body positive' photos of herself in her underwear. She thinks this is empowerment, but saying women menstruate is hateful.

BaronessFloralBunting · 08/06/2020 23:19

Pullman came down on the TWAW religion some time ago IIRC. So much irony that the big 'anti-religion for kids' polemical fiction writer supports the neo-religious of Genderism that uses kids in ways which are every bit as heinous as scaring small children with a fiery hell for their sins.

littlbrowndog · 08/06/2020 23:16

Philip Pullman lets see if he has any backbone. My guess is he hasn’t. Hopefully am wrong. I fucking love his books as well I hope he does have a backbone

littlbrowndog · 08/06/2020 23:12

Yeah his daughter calling jk a bitch. Awesome work there from a privileged woman. Just awesome

That’s to be proud of Jonathan Ross.

Lordfrontpaw · 08/06/2020 23:10

Someone on twitter said his daughter is gay. So to me that’s a double weasel (woman and gay). Well done.

LaureBerthaud · 08/06/2020 23:10

The amount of traction this issue has is totally out of proportion to the number of people involved. I cannot understand how this happened

This is what baffles me. How many trans people are there in the UK?

pachyderm · 08/06/2020 23:04

Easy for his rich spoiled daughters to think TWAW. They're not likely to see the inside of a public hospital ward, women's refuge or prison.

Gncq · 08/06/2020 22:23

Unfortunately we all know why he's said this.
And it's not because he believes JK is a transphobe.

He's in the clutches like they all are.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 08/06/2020 22:22

It is a shame, especially since he did seem to get it. Leaving her to face the abuse she's getting without support is absolutely cowardly.
On the other hand, it seems that Philip Pullman has stuck his head tentatively above the turret so hopefully he'll stay the course.

Michelleoftheresistance · 08/06/2020 22:15

He needs to give some thought to whether he wishes his daughters to be subordinate humans in the world. And hope at the same time they have enough privilege to remain unaware of their own naivety and lack of care for female people who are less lucky and whose disadvantage will be massively increased through transactivism.

I suspect from that tweet he has merely lost his nerve.

saveeno · 08/06/2020 22:15

Missed his climb down.

BaronessFloralBunting · 08/06/2020 22:14

Well, I suppose it's a good thing that a man listens to his daughters. Not so great when they are PopFems who call women 'bitches' for talking about the material reality of sex and the difficulties women face.

This is why we avoid applauding White Knights. Eventually they'll default to only listening to PopFems who uphold the basic status quo in favour of men. Slow clap, Wossy. This is you and Bragg deciding if women are allowed to discuss their oppression all over again, innit?

LightenUpSummer · 08/06/2020 22:13

I was surprised by this thread as he’s always made my skin crawl with the way he talked to women, sleazing all over them. I remember him “joking” to a famous actress (sadly I’ve forgotten who) while interviewing her that they’d had sex and he’d “ruined her for other men”. So horrible

7Days · 08/06/2020 22:10

Oh Jonathan, your poor old bufflehead

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 08/06/2020 22:08

He has just demonstrated that he is a weak coward imo with his latest tweet

FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue · 08/06/2020 22:06

On a slight tangent, I've been watching Ricky Gervais' After Life series 2 on Netflix. Has anyone seen the episode (think it's the second to last one) where he (local newspaper journalist) is sent to interview the dad who identifies as a 9 year old girl? Very funny. And outrageous. And quite touching/sad when he chats to the man's daughter.

Warning: if you haven't seen this series, there is a therapist character in it who gets progressively more horrifically misogynistic each episode (Gervais clearly wants us to despise him) - but you might find it a bit hard to watch.

Kantastic · 08/06/2020 22:06

I would just like to note the contrast between his daughter calling JK Rowling a "bitch" in the newspapers and JK Rowling saying "biological sex is real." And how one of those is apparently hateful prejudice and one of them is not even controversial.

Amazing how much lower the bar is for transphobia than for misogyny - or is it just that misogyny doesn't even matter to people?

saveeno · 08/06/2020 22:05

The amount of traction this issue has is totally out of proportion to the number of people involved. I cannot understand how this happened. iWhere did the influencing of Governments and legislation etc come from? But women will be most affected by the patriarchy so possibly there's the answer.

Time has come to be blunt and shut it down pronto.

Thank you J Ross and JK. Women's voices need to be heard.

BringbackLang · 08/06/2020 22:05

Of course he knows it's not transphobic. His daughters appear to be intersectional 'feminists' who centre men and call women bitches for not sharing their lofty views.

testing987654321 · 08/06/2020 22:02

They're not alone, are they? How many early 20s women are prepared to stand up for women's sex-based rights? I imagine they're under a lot of pressure to keep their dad "on message".

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 08/06/2020 22:01

Wonder how he knew they were daughters & if he ever worried about them getting pregnant as teens Hmm
