Here he is again - sticking up for the side of rationality!!

The BTL comments are heartening too.

So, Jonathan, if you think that as a man you have no right to decide what is transphobic, what makes you think that men have the right to decide what is misogynistic?

JellySlice · 09/06/2020 08:37

Philip Pullman... isn't he the guy who wrote about it being bad to separate children from their souls, and that children's souls change shape and appearance until they settle into their adult form, while the children's fundamental physical form matures but never changes?

Of course, that's complete fantasy.

littlbrowndog · 09/06/2020 08:24

Pullman. No backbone.

He just confirmed it

There we go another man to afraid to stand up and be counted

Floisme · 09/06/2020 08:23

And it seems odd that he can't disagree with his 23 year old daughter about anything.
To be honest, I do have a smidgeon of sympathy with him there. A woke adult daughter would scare me far more than a Twitter mob.

CourtneyLurve · 09/06/2020 08:19

Re-reading his backtrack: So, trans people are the only ones who get to decide what is transphobic, but women are not allowed to define their own sex? Women are not allowed to identify misogyny? To highlight sex-based oppression? He can't see the contradictions here?

NeurotrashWarrior · 09/06/2020 08:11

I've pointed out to him that his daughters aren't in a position to judge either.

Transwidows and those yp actively harmed by thsi ideology are the ones who they should listen to.

TitianaTitsling · 09/06/2020 08:10

Posted too soon .. so DR should now be credited as the creator of HP and all its world a according to the TRA types on twitter who are ecstatic they have 2 of the 'golden trio' educated.

TitianaTitsling · 09/06/2020 07:58

And now Daniel Radcliffe is on the jk is wrong bandwagon. So that apparently means he wrote HP....

MindTheMinotaur · 09/06/2020 07:54

I hoped Pullman had been doing some thinking about this. Maybe I read too much into 'The Secret Commonwealth'. Big enough to take on the Catholic Church, staying well out of any argument with the Transhysterium. Very telling.

SunsetBeetch · 09/06/2020 07:54

Ralph Little has done the exact same thing before. He's a drip.

SunsetBeetch · 09/06/2020 07:41

littlbrowndog

He doesn't.

Jonathan Ross - well done
OldCrone · 09/06/2020 02:06

Says little for Jonathan Ross’s capacity that all it took to change his mind were a few sexist slurs

And it seems odd that he can't disagree with his 23 year old daughter about anything.

janeskettle · 09/06/2020 02:04

definitely not OK with racist slurs, ableist slurs, or for my kids using the R word

Then why is someone's child using a misogynist slur just a matter of 'personal tolerance?'

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 09/06/2020 02:01

A well-educated 23 year old could, you’d think, muster better arguments than using the terminology of misogyny. Says little for Jonathan Ross’s capacity that all it took to change his mind were a few sexist slurs.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 09/06/2020 01:59

Oh, are you also super tolerant of your loved ones using racist slurs? Ableist slurs? Happy for your kid to use the R word? Thought not

Who's that aimed at?
If at me then no, definitely not OK with racist slurs, ableist slurs, or for my kids using the R word.

janeskettle · 09/06/2020 01:56

Oh, are you also super tolerant of your loved ones using racist slurs? Ableist slurs? Happy for your kid to use the R word? Thought not.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 09/06/2020 01:53

Does he feel he has to agree with all yours?

No, and I wouldn't expect him to. We're totally different people.
All I'll say is I'm more tolerant of people just "being themselves " though.

OldCrone · 09/06/2020 01:49

I love my Dad but I sure as hell don't agree with all his opinions

Does he feel he has to agree with all yours?

janeskettle · 09/06/2020 01:46

Sure, calling other women sexist slurs is just a matter of personal choice, isn't it?

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 09/06/2020 01:39

And Jonathan really needs to have a wee words with his daughter about calling women sexist slurs - since she obviously doesn’t understand

Blimey,
She's entitled to her own opinion, surely?
I love my Dad but I sure as hell don't agree with all his opinions.

janeskettle · 09/06/2020 01:19

He turned out to be a disappointment, didn't he?

I'm starting to think the number of men who are truly committed to the rights of women can be counted on one hand.

OldCrone · 09/06/2020 01:02

went away and spoke to some people

Don't any of these people have minds of their own? Why do they all have to go away and talk to someone who tells them what they're supposed to think? Why not think for themselves?

yestheyhavethesamedad · 09/06/2020 00:51

And really disappointed in ralf little , siad yesterday that he didnt agree with jk stance on trans rights but could still appreciate her for other "good" things she has done , but has now went away and spoke to some people and decided he must never retweet anything she writes even if he agrees with her to.show solidarity , complete coward .

Datun · 09/06/2020 00:35

Ffs Philip Pullman. You feel 'uncomfortable' because men are telling J. K. Rowling she should be punched, she's a cunt, a bitch, she deserves to die, because she recognises there are two sexes?

Jesus.

Raging misogynistic abuse makes a man feel 'uncomfortable'.

Lordfrontpaw · 09/06/2020 00:00

Men don’t go through childbirth.

Maybe that’s why they have no stamina and are such wussy lightweights.
