This specifically talks about vulnerable kids with SEN targeted by Stonewall.

Please note: by age 2 or 3, a child starts to develop a sense of being a male or female. Some children with a learning disability/additional support needs, however, may not develop gender awareness at the same age and stage as their peers. It is important that children with ASN are actively taught gender identity so that they understand the gender assigned to them at birth.

Conversely, this often requires blatant ‘boy/girl’ activities. However, once a child understands the gender assigned to them at birth, teaching and practice can diversify to include non-stereotypical approaches and allow the child to explore their True Gender identity.

This was shocking and unconscionable.

We will try and make them learn gender stereotypes, and when they don't adhere to them, we'll say they are trans.

It's as though they're actively recruiting from the most vulnerable population of children. Or indeed like another phenomenon that we can't mention.

I have been baffled by how influential Diane Ehrensaft is ever since seeing that nonsense clip about the toddler pulling the barrette (clip?) out of her hair was a sign she was rejected her gender assigned at birth, but particularly since finding out she believed in the Satanic panic and got a research article published. How do professional people get away with displaying this level of credulity and still maintain a reputation - actually, even just how do they stay on the register of HCPs?

So trying to convince SEN children they are transexual.....also there is a huge movement to target children in care (some of whom we know will have suffered sexual abuse and of course want to disassociate from their bodies.) This crap needs to be taken away from children, adults can access it if/when a Dr refers them to it.

@kesstrel

I was just reading this. One of the main points is that Stonewall's most recent schools "guidance" is going after children with SEN.

Often a child or young person’s words or actions are automatically attributed to their SEND without considerations of other factors, such as their orientation or gender identity. This might include: preferences for clothing types or hair length being seen as a sensory need; fear of change at puberty; behaviours described as a new special interest, fascination, curiosity or phase.”

There's quite a bit more, and some of it is truly shocking stuff.

This reminds me of some guidance for schools which was discussed on hear a couple of years ago.

In a section entitled "Being Fully Inclusive: Children and Young People with Additional Support Needs (ASN)", it says this:

Please note: by age 2 or 3, a child starts to develop a sense of being a male or female. Some children with a learning disability/additional support needs, however, may not develop gender awareness at the same age and stage as their peers. It is important that children with ASN are actively taught gender identity so that they understand the gender assigned to them at birth.

I don't know if this guidance is still being used by schools. The link to it still works.

There's huge money invested into medicalising personality traits. It doesn't begin or end with ASD/SEND children.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/05/2020 20:45

It's excellent, isn't it. I'd like to see the Department for Education find a spine and do something about this. Several government departments, all LEAs and Academy Trusts could do similar.

FreeKitties · 28/05/2020 20:40

This is dangerous nonsense. However- this may well be their undoing, they have been quietly encouraging the ‘diagnosis’ of
children with ASD as being ‘trans’ for a while - once this hits mainstream i think parents and professionals will begin pushing back.

The MRAs/TRAs just get creepier and creepier. I'm extremely concerned for my dcs after reading this. Thank goddess for Transgender Trend bringing this to light.

This stood out to me: “Some children and young people with SEND, including those who have neurodivergent learning styles, may need additional support in understanding their own identity.”
