Creepy AGP reviews on M&S website

I've noticed quite a few online reviews from men of M&S lingerie. These knickers are the latest I've seen. 3 reviews, 2 of which are by men.
I get the feeling that the review is part of the AGP fetish. It reminds me of flashing in that it's intended to make women/girls feel uncomfortable/shocked/embarrassed. I've seen men reviewing bras from the "Angel" first bra range too.

Sorry I’m a bit late to respond.

I think I’ve already stated that there should be single sex changing rooms and I know some would call me Transphobic (I would call myself trans ideology critical) but just because you disagree with something, or are disgusted by something, doesn’t mean it should be banned. You do not have a right to not be shocked. You do not have a right to stop others posting reviews as I don’t think it is against the law for men to buy knickers. Posting reviews on buying knickers does not fall under the single sex exemption law. There are going to be reviews which I feel go into too much detail re female bodies and I do feel the reviews above are in bad taste. However, I don’t have a right of protection here and I shouldn’t have.

If we go along the route of asking M&S to censor this, will they also censor the bra reviews that complain the lace makes nipples sore? The differences that the law protects, between sexes, cannot apply in this case. I think gender ID based on societal stereotypes should become as anachronistic as the dodo, that there should be protections in law for the disadvantages because of sex, age, disabilities, sexual preference (assuming consensual adults) race, religion etc

If it does no harm- so what.

And laughing our heads off and saying how repugnant they are? Is that what passes as a ‘turn on’ these days?

FlamingoAndJohn · 18/05/2020 17:14

And of course knowing that we are reading it and talking about it will be exciting them no end.

Zhuleva · 18/05/2020 16:18

Vom

Bananabixfloof · 18/05/2020 16:00

If he gets a private thrill out of it

It's hardly private when it's in the reviews that usually women would read. Its definitely not private when men use the womens changing room, wank into whatever item, and then replace on the rail.
All these things have been done already and documented. I dont want to be the unwilling victim of his fantasies.

stillathing · 18/05/2020 14:38

witch
The power play going on isn't the supposedly subversive "power" of wearing clothes stereotypically for the opposite sex!! You're talking to a bunch of feminists here ffs! Of course most of us couldn't care less what clothes other humans choose to wear. Feminists aren't the ones trying to go backwards with strict adherence to gendered stereotypes.

The power play is that these male reviewers know they can write wank fantasies in spaces frequented by females and get away with it. They want women to read them and feel threatened.

They get away with it because they are male and we live in a patriarchy. They get their kicks from doing this to women because they are male and we live in a patriarchy. There's no comparison to be had with anything any woman has ever done.

Personally I read reviews to help me buy clothes for my female form. My body goes in and out in a way models' bodies don't tend to so I rely on reading about the fit on other women's bodies.

What proportion of customers are going to find the sexist wank fantasist's review helpful? And what proportion feel threatened, worried their clothes will have semen on them, sick, re-traumatised etc?

A helpful review of clothing designed for female bodies by a male human could go: "OK so I'm a man so these pants weren't designed for my shape but the material is a lovely quality and they washed well. The colour was much brighter than it looked on the website".

FlamingoAndJohn · 18/05/2020 09:25

The thing is Witch, you aren’t going against the grain. I, and I’m sure many other posters here, agree with every word you say. In fact a lot of the comments you have made would be seen as hugely transphobic.

Everyone can wear what they like. Men want to wear those knickers, carry on.
The problem is that they are using the reviews section for sexual excitement. It’s got bugger all to do with what people wear and everything to do was facilitating wank fantasies.

HorseRadishFemish · 18/05/2020 09:13

Well I clicked on OP's link and was shocked to see that none of the models featured were transwomen.

Someone should point out to M&S that this is literal violence.

Cooroo · 18/05/2020 09:04

Since I clicked on the link, Facebook keep advertising these pants at me! They're pretty vile already without the added association of the reviews...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/05/2020 00:26

If he gets a private thrill out of it

There's nothing private about it

SarahTancredi · 17/05/2020 23:23

Normal womans review/normal mans review

Fits well and washes really well.fab quality item. Excellent value for money Nd great customer service.

These arent the reviews we are talking about though are they witch . They are absolutely part of the fetish

Doyoumind · 17/05/2020 23:05

Witch you have entirely missed the point. No one cares if men wear knickers if they want to, even if they have been designed for the female anatomy and not to support their balls. The point is that these men clearly only post reviews because they get a thrill from it. That is creepy.

DuchessOfSofa · 17/05/2020 23:03

Well, Holy God Miley

Surprised at M&S approving autogynophilia reviews.

Witchlight · 17/05/2020 23:00

Absolutely there is some power play going on. My great grandmother was a bit of a rebel, who not only went to university, but studied Maths. She told me how liberating it was to wear men’s clothes.

There should be no boundaries in clothing, as long as the clothing is not too sexual for the situation. If he gets a private thrill out of it 🤷‍♀️. If everyone could wear all styles of human clothing, I think it would be fine.

I think there would have to be some boundaries eg puppy play outfits to stay out of public places........ but a pair of knickers, so what

Clymene · 17/05/2020 22:59

These men are getting off on women reading the reviews. It's bring virtually flashed. It's revolting and I'm amazed that any company wants to encourage this sort of stuff.

I guess M&S are fucking desperate at the moment since they shat all over their core market

LaurieFairyCake · 17/05/2020 22:51

What should happen is that we all go on there and post multiple fetishistic reviews and then the whole lot will get taken down

And loads of women who think 'it's not a problem' will read them and actually think yeah, this is a fucking problem

EarlofEggMcMuffin · 17/05/2020 22:48

Absolutely "dress however you please.Call yourself whatever you like."

Personally, I dont feel any need to impose my reviews of (scratches head?) I dunno, condoms, maybe? by leaving them where men may find them.

It's not about what some men want to wear....its the thrill of crossing a boundary. That's all.
The little power play of going somewhere that you know you're not really supposed to be.

Witchlight · 17/05/2020 22:41

Ok I’m going to go against the grain here. I think men can wear what they like. A dress, knickers, tights etc. All the clothes that are generally for someone female, according to society rule. It doesn’t make them a woman - they are just a man in a dress.

People can dress how they want, as long as it is appropriate and they still allow for single sex exemptions in changing rooms etc. By appropriate, I mean they should not wear crotch hugging lurex to go shopping, but at home, or a likeminded party, why not? The whole point is, that their right to do so, shouldn’t threaten. If a man is wearing what looks like very uncomfortable knickers, as long as he doesn’t flash them inappropriately- so what.

My great grandmother bought men’s long johns many years ago, to cycle in. She went to a menswear shop with her sister to choose them. Later, she took to wearing her brothers trousers as far more practical - it caused a bit of a scandal . If women can wear trousers, men can wear dresses. There are women who wear boxers, and men who wear knickers.

I think the sooner gender stereotypes of dress (or anything) are dismissed by everyone, the better.

EarlofEggMcMuffin · 17/05/2020 22:09

M&S had my email address and I regularly received marketing emails. Which meant that I often clicked through and occasionally purchased from them.
Since seeing the reviews of women's underwear by men, on their site, I unsubscribed.

No big deal for M&S...but, I didn't buy food at Christmas and I didn't get Christmas jumpers there, and I didn't get new socks for the kids there, and I dont look there when I want more shower gel etc etc etc.

I reserve my custom for supermarkets and clothes retailers who dont publish fetishistic reviews.

WhereAreWeNow · 17/05/2020 21:11

stillathing that's exactly how I felt. I don't care what this guy wears. I just don't want to be part of his fantasy just by reading his review.

I know you lot all reckon they're nasty knickers but I quite liked them Blush. Definitely not buying them now though!

I stumbled across a couple of reviews by the same guy on the Sainsburys Tu clothing website. In both reviews he feels it necessary to inform the reader that the ladies pants & ladies swimsuit fit well over his small appendage (I think that is what he called it - I clicked away in a hurry NOTE : THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR SALES, SAINSBURYS).

I was surprised at my reaction. I don't care if males wish to wear women's clothes. (I do care about fitting rooms being single sex though). But I had to leave the website right away because I didn't want to be involved in the man's fantasy. I think he wrote that stuff knowing women would see it and not like it, and crucially, knowing that women are powerless to do anything about it. It wasn't written to be a useful review - women's bodies are so different from men's, especially around the hips.

It was part of his fantasy and not a benign fantasy, because it preys on those with less power than him.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/05/2020 19:18

But the reviews actually say that these are a good fit for a man. Not a woman with a penis, a man.

Whatever their identity, they know they probably wouldn't get a review approved which mentioned their penis, and creeping women out is their raison d'etre. So they have to say man, because many people think a "trans woman" has had the op.

Lordfrontpaw · 17/05/2020 19:03

Please tell me they don’t publish photos like amazon....

Lordfrontpaw · 17/05/2020 19:03

But women’s cut knickers would just look dreadful on a man surely? Bulges and hair in all the wrong places.

Ilovemystarter · 17/05/2020 18:42

All 3 reviews for these appalling knickers are by men. What’s really creepy is that m&s thought it was ok to publish them. Maybe they should just own up & have a fetish section?
I’ve given up on m&s clothes anyway because they’re such low quality nowadays. Just trading on the past, with ugly clothes. Even their children’s wear is boring & overpriced & a limited range.
These knickers are truly awful.
