Young women don't know what a woman is

This is absolutely staggering.

The latest poll commissioned by Wings over Scotland on the subject of self-ID, finds that all demographics in their majority believe a woman is an adult human female.

Except young women.

"The 16-34 female demographic actually voted by a narrow six-point majority that a person’s sex has absolutely nothing to do with biology. Even the next-closest group (young men) was a staggering FORTY points adrift from that view (net -34), and middle-aged women were close behind them at a net -36. Among women over 55 the margin against self-ID was a crushing 62 points (over 4:1 against), with older men at a breathtaking 10:1."

I think Scott here has some relevant points on Transing kids. They absolutely can't consent to it, they can't possibly understand. It is going to be a huge scandal, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Advanced search is always a useful tool when looking at a poster who spectacularly derails a thread. It's so often the same pattern

isabellerossignol · 10/05/2020 20:14

Half the thread odette half the thread...

And half of every other thread they post on too. Truly a master of the craft of the merail.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 10/05/2020 20:10

Half the thread odette half the thread...

And thats the amazing thing

0DETTE · 10/05/2020 19:58

Merailing

Yes that’s the word I was looking for , thanks.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/05/2020 19:49

To think as a species we’d managed to outgrow foot binding for that alluring teeny tiny feet and inability to walk, rib removal & suffocating corsets to get a teensy waist...

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/05/2020 19:37

The thing about puberty blockers, binders, surgery on the genitals, long term use of artificial hormones etc is that they have a negative impact of the health of the body. Which is something the medical profession generally does not encourage, especially in children.

Lamahaha · 10/05/2020 19:34

So, in terms of trans issues what does acceptance mean to you? That could mean using puberty blockers couldn't it?

No. Because there is nothing wrong with the body. It does not need treatment or medication. In fact, medication (ie puberty blockers) would cause it to malfunction.

I think the "serenity prayer", slightly amended, explains it well. It doesn't have to be religious:

"May I have serenity fortitude to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference."

Among the things one "cannot change" would be sex.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 10/05/2020 19:23

OldCrone

I'm not misinterpreting. My interpretation of acceptance means doing nothing. Your interpretation of acceptance apparently means accept treatment, or medical assistance.

So, in terms of trans issues what does acceptance mean to you? That could mean using puberty blockers couldn't it?

we could just tell them that it's fine to have whatever interests they have and if other people tell them that girls/boys don't like that particular thing then those people are wrong

Well, Dragon's Den isn't going to go for it as a marketing plan, tho.

Pertella · 10/05/2020 18:00

Whereas we could just tell them that it's fine to have whatever interests they have and if other people tell them that girls/boys don't like that particular thing then those people are wrong

Exactly so. My son is 7 and we are starting to get the 'but pink is for girls' type of thing starting. Hes getting the 'it's just a colour/toy/whatever thing and you can wear/play/use it if you want' response.

OldCrone · 10/05/2020 17:58

If you are using prosthetic limbs then you aren't just accepting it are you? You're using prosthetics, not just having counselling to learn to accept life without legs.

Yes, this is what acceptance looks like. Accept that you have no legs. Adapt to life using prosthetics.

You have an immense talent for misinterpreting and misunderstanding what others are saying.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/05/2020 17:55

Whereas we could just tell them that it's fine to have whatever interests they have and if other people tell them that girls/boys don't like that particular thing then those people are wrong. It seemed to work relatively well in the 70s and 80s. If people persist in haranguing the child in an attempt to make them more gender conforming then that's bullying and should be dealt with as such.

Pertella · 10/05/2020 17:53

If it wasn't your comment another would have been found

As if by magic... Grin

Pertella · 10/05/2020 17:52

Children are being offered a 'cure' for a problem they weren't aware they had.

First we tell them that the way they behave and the things that they like dont match the behaviour and things that they are supposed to like because of the body they were born in.

Then we tell them its OK because we can change your body so it's a bit more like the body type that likes the things you like.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 10/05/2020 17:50

If you have no legs, isn't it better to adapt to life with prosthetic limbs or using a wheelchair rather than refusing to accept your condition and being constantly angry about the way you were born?

If you are using prosthetic limbs then you aren't just accepting it are you? You're using prosthetics, not just having counselling to learn to accept life without legs.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 10/05/2020 17:49

Ah, I see.

'haven't yet achieved the level of cognitive development that would allow them to recognize that what they're being promised isn't possible'.

Yes.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/05/2020 17:48

It's not your fault, testing. If it wasn't your comment another would have been found.

testing987654321 · 10/05/2020 17:47

I've got to say though, it's been a very effective tactic. So hats off for that.

I feel like I have to apologise for providing the comment which was used for this. Both me and other people pointed out it was being misinterpreted, subsequent to that being ignored it was obviously a deliberate misinterpretation designed to prevent actual discussion.

MrsSnippyPants · 10/05/2020 17:34

I can't recall who coined the word 'merailing'.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/05/2020 17:33

You're misreading that sentence. My point was that children are not yet able to fully understand that just because an adult tells them that changing sex is possible that doesn't mean it's true.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/05/2020 17:31

They are being promised a lie. Any child can tell them.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 10/05/2020 17:30

what they're being promised isn't possible yet.

Not 'yet'.

What they're being promised isn't possible, full stop.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/05/2020 17:21

Or the extra people on your head who you're apparently meant to be having a dialogue with.

Knowhowufeel2 · 10/05/2020 17:19

That was a joke, btw. Your biological sex is what determines whether you're a man or a woman, not the feelings in your head.
