Young women don't know what a woman is

This is absolutely staggering.

The latest poll commissioned by Wings over Scotland on the subject of self-ID, finds that all demographics in their majority believe a woman is an adult human female.

Except young women.

"The 16-34 female demographic actually voted by a narrow six-point majority that a person’s sex has absolutely nothing to do with biology. Even the next-closest group (young men) was a staggering FORTY points adrift from that view (net -34), and middle-aged women were close behind them at a net -36. Among women over 55 the margin against self-ID was a crushing 62 points (over 4:1 against), with older men at a breathtaking 10:1."

Loving the scolding of women for not accepting other women's opinions, hence being utterly intolerant of women not obediently accepting and saying that men definitely, absolutely are women if they feel like it.

Irony overload.

Hi Little, I came to Mumsnet because of biology, checking maternity rights and staying for parenting, iespecially disabled children. Bereavement too. The wisdom of real women here, young and old, and some good men, will be available when you want help with the inevitability of biology.

Pertella · 08/05/2020 18:37

Maybe all these men dying from covid should have just identified as woman, considering biology isnt everything and it's how you feel inside that matters 🤷‍♀️

You should tell the NHS and save thousands of lives!

CaliforniaMountainSnake · 08/05/2020 18:36

I am so fucking done with mumsnet now.

No shame there

Pertella · 08/05/2020 18:35

Is there a word to describe people born with vaginas that doesn't include people born with penises?

Littlemeadow123 · 08/05/2020 18:31

It's not that they don't know what a woman is, it is that they have a dofferent opinion on what a woman is to you. No, they are not thick - they are actually proving themselves to be far less ignorant and more enlightened than the people on here. They are not just parroting others, young women are not brainless sheep, they have minds of their own and can form their own opinions - to suggest otherwise is unfeminist. Biology isn't everything, it is how you feel inside that counts too and if you say that all women are born with a vagina then you are being a bigot.

I am so fucking done with mumsnet now.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 08/05/2020 18:25

I dunno, I like 'wifman' and 'werman'. 'Man' itself was neutral, originally, as far as I know.

OneEpisode · 08/05/2020 18:23

I don’t mind being a woman. Can I tell my Nigel I’m reverting to the original word for his sort of human, and he is a werman?

CaliforniaMountainSnake · 08/05/2020 18:13

They have done a very good job of confusing things with language and threats of trabsphobia.

If you drill into people that transwomen are women, and tell them believing otherwise makes you a hateful bigot - then when you ask people what is a woman, you have to logically think, it's anyone who wants to be. Because thinking otherwise is hateful.

This is the obvious conclusion of the word woman being extended to include males.

Personally I think we should give up on woman (the word insinuates a subset of man anyway). Let's come up with a better cooler word. And no men allowed this time.

I suggest coolfems or sex-xx or
fem-xx.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 08/05/2020 17:52

Well, I'm a middle-aged woman myself

How do you know?

Brilliant. Sums it all up in four words Smile

@Michelleoftheresistance it's patronising and un-feminist to say that young women are controlled and parroting because they have a different opinion than you.

No, it's just true.

testing987654321 · 08/05/2020 17:44

What's that saying "so long as priests, pornographers and politicians know what a woman is, then I do too".

popehilarious · 08/05/2020 17:42

Well, I'm a middle-aged woman myself, but bravo to young women I say.

That is some vile misgendering going on there from marfisa. The young women have identified as such yet you use male-gendered words.

Helmetbymidnight · 08/05/2020 17:36

marfisa: i cant substantiate my opinion in any way so im just gonna pretend its you who are at fault.

marfisa · 08/05/2020 17:36

Thank you, CorianderLord.

nauticant · 08/05/2020 17:34

It is not being in an echo chamber to recognise reality.

To separate women from biological reality is delusional. People might have their reasons for going along with that but it's delusional all the same.

Pertella · 08/05/2020 17:34

Well, if you wont actually engage in any form of debate or answer questions then that tends to happen marfisa 🤷‍♀️

marfisa · 08/05/2020 17:31

Just popping back in to check whether the thread is an echo chamber.

Yep, echo chamber.

CorianderLord · 08/05/2020 17:26

@Michelleoftheresistance it's patronising and un-feminist to say that young women are controlled and parroting because they have a different opinion than you.

Almost as though they can't possibly have their own reasons and beliefs because they're just such young little airheads.

Floisme · 08/05/2020 17:06

It takes a while to realise how different men are in terms of strength.
I agree. As a child I kicked hard against the idea that girls were smaller and weaker because boys were roughly the same size as me and I could fight them. I idolised Emma Peel and totally expected to grow up like her.

My wake up call came when I was 18 but I think a lot of young people now are sheltered from reality for longer.

I also think 16-34 is a wide age range and I'd be very interested in, say the under and over 25 numbers.

Lordfrontpaw · 08/05/2020 17:00

You just have to ask - why are baby girls aborted/murdered on the basis of their sex on some cultures?

Why are little girls married off at puberty in some countries?

Why are little girls genitally mutilated?

Why are young women - and girls - sold/snatched into prostitution?

Does this happen as a matter of course to male babies/children/young adults?

If parents could just say/tell themselves that these females were males and save them, or little girls declare themselves boys and save themselves, why the hell wouldn’t they?

Soontobe60 · 08/05/2020 16:48

Well, I'm a middle-aged woman myself, but bravo to young women I say. I agree with them

What exactly do you agree with @marfisa? That you can change sex? Because, you know you can’t. You can identify as whatever gender you want, but not your natal sex. That doesn’t change, science knows it.

Miriel · 08/05/2020 16:43

Did that category include all the interesting people who like to identify as 'girls', I wonder?

It's sad. As others have said, it isn't that they don't know. It's that they're afraid to speak the truth.

Wildlingyoumakemyheartsing · 08/05/2020 16:25

I'm in that age category. Of all the other women my age I know, I can't think of any who would pick the un-woke option in this survey. I would guess that many think it but would not be able to say it for fear of reprisals. I know many woke and misogynistic men my age who would verbally attack them forcefully for disagreeing with the narrative.
