Why all the upset on Twitter (jameela?)

Seeing lots of upset posts from women I follow on twitter, something to do with jameela. I don’t really know who j is - I know she said she’d bought the book about women being blamed for everything (I follow the fab author but can’t remember her name). But what has happened to cause so much upset?

It’s a shame as I used to really love her

She is fantastic in the Good Place but now she seems to be jumping on the bandwagon to keep popular

Bless her, I don’t know if she’s naively woke, jumping on the latest injustice bandwagon like a teenager who goes vegan for a week, or whether it’s self-promotion. But in putting herself out there as some kind of moral authority, she finds herself trapped in a purity spiral and keeps having to come back to things in her own life, whether it’s race, health issues or being queer to defend what she’s said.

My advice would be to do her homework and get her thoughts straight before coming out with her this-week version of feminism/activism.... or maybe just to avoid Twitter generally and stick to acting?

She’s a woke moral gatekeeper, and seems very fond of ‘calling people out’.
I get the impression she keeps her keyboard close at hand so if someone steps a foot out of the woke line she can take straight to Twitter.

She's extremely woke. The other day she called for the 'subgroups of feminism' to talk to one another but is clear she thinks only one set of opinions is valid.

Sadly there are many [subgroups]. Those who exclude POC. Those who exclude disability. Those who exclude fat women. Those who exclude trans. Those who exclude sex workers. Those who exclude lgbtq+. Devastating and Ideal conditions for the patriarchy to continue to reign.

It’s the sort of mess that cannot be sorted out via us just not talking to each other any more. We need allies for each sub group to fight for the equal rights of the groups being excluded. We need discourse and education. We cannot change what we cannot see, hear and understand.

I'm not sure there are branches of feminism that exclude people based on weight, sexual orientation, disability or race. Also, opposition to prostitution is not 'excluding sex workers'. That's all a distraction from the main issue - males who identify as women.
