I have been lurking on twitter lately and noticed Baroness Nicholson has been very active recently. Amongst her tweets are quite a few gems - letters to Liz Truss, tweets asking for evidence about Stonewall’s involvement CPS guidance just to name two.

This tweet I found very encouraging too.

It is imperative to restore the rights of women.I foresee a single issue, cluster approach;we make a new Women’s Rights movement lasting one year, solely to rescue womanhood from its destruction through today’s legal and social denial of our existence.Emma,BNoW

She has today written to Liz Truss again but this time with her concerns about the gross misinterpretation of the ECHR in the trans toolkits used in schools and recommends that such toolkits are removed from use now. Such support is great news.

I will try to post the letter for those not on twitter.

I look forward to seeing what what happens next.

TRAs are awfully focused on anuses, and awfully determined to make kids talk about them in a sexual context. I'm pretty sure this is a porn thing.

Winesalot · 15/06/2020 20:42

The Baroness is currently tweeting the ‘tools’ in the RSE kits for schools. The dice game has really truly turned my stomach.

How can this be considered appropriate???

But she is tweeting other bits too.

Yes, rodgmum she certainly did! And before I read that, it did not even occur to me to think that.

How the hell did the department lose control over this?

It is good. She’s highlighted the issues of schools taking an affirmation only approach rather than the established watchful waiting and points out that even GIDS doesn’t recommend social transition before being seen by them.

Winesalot · 12/06/2020 16:18

It really is incisive to simply point out the inconsistencies to policy and at the same time ram the point home that lobby groups should not have this power.

That last letter is very good.

Winesalot · 12/06/2020 15:28

Just adding her latest letter here.

I don’t have hi res pics to post, my apologies. It is no surprise but she has found a number of significant inconsistency in the Stonewall RSE material.

Excellent idea.

BaronessFloralBunting · 04/06/2020 08:16

Name change in tribute. I want to be the Baroness when I grow up.

Thisismytimetoshine · 04/06/2020 08:07

God, she's amazing!

Winesalot · 04/06/2020 08:03

I am going to post this tweet whenever I see the word used by a few notorious derailers.

The more this gets said, the better!!

DROP THAT WORD! It’s meaningless rubbish-word so Never Use It Again. You see it’s designed to demean you and you’ve fallen into the trap.Nor is your ‘right’ the same as the supposed ‘right’ your detractors use.Stand up,look up and respect yourself;no rubbish words.

SirVix I am amazed by her continued energy. I have seen some tweets that disparage her position as ‘entitled’. Ummmm! No. The very depth of her work in women’s rights and her experiences allow her to cut through the emotive mantras. And enough times her come back is come and sit down and tell me what you need to those who tell her she is disgusting and phobic. I guess she has seen it all...

I have just read the Baroness’s wiki page. Wow. She is amazing. I can imagine her having something to say on surrogacy too.

littlbrowndog · 03/06/2020 22:43

But the baroness does the work. Look at her history

Look a5 Hayden’s and the haddock s history

Just wee whiny fuckers on twitter

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/06/2020 21:28

She's got Haddock in her sights too Grin

Datun · 03/06/2020 19:55

It's one thing telling women in general to shut the fuck up, it's quite another telling a peer of the realm in the House of Lords.

teawamutu · 03/06/2020 18:48

Is wonderful. I'm just hoping we don't overwork her or she can find some allies...

Winesalot · 03/06/2020 14:28

apologies for the low ressolution. Another letter to Liz Truss. This one on the single mindedness of stonewall at the detriment of lesbians. And she has included her letter to Gavin Williamson.

Thank you to all who have been in communication with the Baroness, it is amazing to see action being taken and the hard questions being asked.

Late to the debate, but am I the only one who thinks the Baroness could be truly formidable if it weren't for a tendency to shoot from the hip on occasion.

I would agree if Twitter were the real world, but it isn’t. What is important is the questions she asks, the letters she writes and even more so the people she talks to.

Her responses also show us part of the problem with our representatives; they are so busy that they don’t get the chance to fully understand any particular issue. They take a complaint raised by a constituent and fire off an email without properly understanding the issue which means things like transideology’s harms are not explored, or in cases like the Baroness’s letter are not quite tight enough around the problem that the reply can be weasel word.

nauticant · 03/06/2020 11:37

It's not just you NotAssigned. This tweet:

twitter.com/Baroness_Nichol/status/1267801575923294211

misrepresents the tweet she's quoting and hands a beating stick to trans activists.

NotAssigned · 03/06/2020 11:30

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 03/06/2020 11:23

I can honestly think of nothing that would help the GC cause more than a good old Daily Mail personal perspective piece from Steph full of quotes and photos.

(The DM are the OG trolls)

Datun · 03/06/2020 11:17

Take it to the newspapers, Steph!

Yes!

C'mon. Complain, write to your MP, put it on Twitter.
