I have been lurking on twitter lately and noticed Baroness Nicholson has been very active recently. Amongst her tweets are quite a few gems - letters to Liz Truss, tweets asking for evidence about Stonewall’s involvement CPS guidance just to name two.

This tweet I found very encouraging too.

It is imperative to restore the rights of women.I foresee a single issue, cluster approach;we make a new Women’s Rights movement lasting one year, solely to rescue womanhood from its destruction through today’s legal and social denial of our existence.Emma,BNoW

She has today written to Liz Truss again but this time with her concerns about the gross misinterpretation of the ECHR in the trans toolkits used in schools and recommends that such toolkits are removed from use now. Such support is great news.

I will try to post the letter for those not on twitter.

I look forward to seeing what what happens next.

That document doesn't seem to be prioritising transgender or gender identity Winesalot. Where "gender" is mentioned, this seems to be the focus:

Child sexual exploitation is a form of child sexual abuse. It occurs where an individual or group takes advantage of an imbalance of power to coerce, manipulate or deceive a child or young person under the age of 18
...
Like all forms of child sex abuse, child sexual exploitation:
...
• is typified by some form of power imbalance in favour of those perpetrating the abuse. Whilst age may be the most obvious, this power imbalance can also be due to a range of other factors including gender, sexual identity, cognitive ability, physical strength, status, and access to economic or other resources.

Is that Baroness Berridge, Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department for Education) and Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department for International Trade) (Minister for Women), saying that she definitely wasn't the one responsible for dodgy materials being used in schools that go against the safeguarding of children?

I've really enjoyed the sunlight over the past week. Remember though, if you get too exposed you can get sunburn.

Thank you digbee.

Oh and her unique style where she retweets even negative comments is causing some activists and monitors consternation. It is refreshing.

The Baroness has tweeted a letter she has received from Baroness Berridge regarding the trans toolkit.

Out of interest I’d be interested in seeing just what the Dept of Education provide that is being bypassed by councils and schools. It all seems to be too easy for these Inappropriate toolkits to be chosen by well meaning providers.

So Haddocks allowed to have genital preferences but lesbians are not-interesting.

I am loving the Baroness, she tweets so eloquently and with humour.

JellySlice · 22/05/2020 15:58

It's almost as if Adrian believes the definition of homosexuality is same sex attraction. Shock

JellySlice · 22/05/2020 15:11

Link to the tweet, please? I can't find it. (I don't understand Twitter.)

Lordfrontpaw · 22/05/2020 13:34

The very same

Apollo440 · 22/05/2020 10:36

'The' Joan Bakewell?

Lordfrontpaw · 22/05/2020 09:45

And the “I’m tellin’” are flying.

ChattyLion · 22/05/2020 09:45

This just gets better. Joan Bakewell is awesome.

MrsSnippyPants · 22/05/2020 09:42

Looks like Joan Bakewell is coming out in support of the Baroness too. Momentum is building.

stumbledin · 22/05/2020 00:15

Have just seen this (I dont usually bother with twitter but the Baroness keeps coming up with delights)

Women are the better half of a the human race. This does occasionally create a little envy from the other half, understandably of course!

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/05/2020 23:58

Last I checked "woman" is a gender.

Well, it's not, so maybe check a better source.

boatyardblues · 21/05/2020 23:24

Sadly for us all boatyardblues I believe Lord Moonie has joined the many of us in being perma banned from Twitter

Yes, I realised that after. He is sorely missed.

Lordfrontpaw · 21/05/2020 23:22

Because they think it’s an insult. I suspect she doesn’t give a rats’.

Datun · 21/05/2020 23:15

Why are they putting the word baroness in scary quotes? Don't they think she is one?

rednsparkley · 21/05/2020 23:11

Sadly for us all boatyardblues I believe Lord Moonie has joined the many of us in being perma banned from Twitter (unless of course he has managed to ressurect on there in which case my apologies)

Winesalot · 21/05/2020 22:50

It is a lesson in keeping your cool while telling someone that they lost the chance to make their case because they cannot keep it respectful.

I must admit to be shocked at seeing that tweet she is talking about. I notice it was 2018 but that poster really is deluded and grasping at straws.

Is it wrong to live with the hope that she would answer one of Haddocks tweets with 'Shush Penfold!'?
