Jameela doesn’t know which way is up. I find her every utterance painful. I would endorse the ‘ignore’ approach with regard to her munchausens by queerness behaviour but she also does actual damage to women with her endorsement of people like Danielle Muscato. She’s pretty dreadful and unthinking - I don’t see why she should be protected from her own foolishness. No one thought ‘ah poor old Billy Bragg, let’s make allowances for the silly old fool’. JJ plays the woke card for money and feelgoods just as much as Billy Bragg.

There's a tendency for people who see themselves as important in a movement to think somehow their contributions are more worthwhile or thoughtful than the people who aren't household names. Which often isn't the case. They get annoyed when other people disagree or argue with them in a sort of "don't you know who I am and what I've done" kind of way. It's always very tempting to say, "yeah, that's how I know that 50% of the time you're talking shit."

And self promotion...?

I just wonder if these women are simply about protecting themselves and couldn’t really give a shit about the movement as they constantly have a go at others. I think it’s self preservation now, and always has been.

Certainly an increasing divide between some academics and other blue ticks, and working class women too. This has just made it worse. And I can't see any of the major players building bridges. However, I think everyone's work will go in regardless. It's just annoying to get caught up in arguments like this.

And I think JK Rowling's support far outweighs that from a clothes-horse-actress! Was brilliant.

Considering TRAs did challenge Jameela and she did then delete the Tweet, it seemed a bit misplaced to blame 'nasty GC women' for making Jameela delete it. Jameela (like many others) has shown time and again which side she thinks she needs to placate. It's not the GC side.

Also, JK Rowling completely and unambiguously supported Jess' book. It's not as though Jameela was the only high profile supporter and that the book will be irreparably damaged by Jameela caving.

I think there has been a bit of in-fighting between various GC groups. A few people's trust betrayed (supposedly). A bit of a right - left wing divide too. Seems to me that this happens once in a while though and then things calm down and people shrug and get over it. Bindel has disappeared before of her own accord and has then come back (she needs Twitter, obvs!).

It's like we're expected to bend over backwards with gratitude towards Jamil too. I think not, she's awful and does feminism a lot of harm with her woke posturing (which is really all about her and her career).

I didn't know Julie Bindel had gone. I know Doc Stock flounced after telling everyone off for laughing at Jamil. I was surprised by Kathleen Stock telling all the GC women we should be better tbh, felt like she was our mum and we were being treated like teens. It was all a bit 'be kind' for me.

I've been on Mumsnet too long for that shit. Every so often posters come on and ask why we're so mean and get told to fuck off to Nethuns. Same with Twitter. Twitter is the wild West, not for sensitive souls. If you're an outspoken sleb you should know how it works.

While I think that it might have been more prudent to actually let Jameelas tweet pass without comment (as it supported the book which was good step), I did find this tweet to be a bit harsh towards a community who has given support in the past.

Oh no, it's very disappointing that big name feminists slag off anonymous accounts like this. There are very good reasons for women being anonymous. It's not the first time this has come up either.
