This guy is like a dog with a bone. Wild accusations levelled at LGB Alliance.

"To everyone who is annoyed by the defamatory remarks made about us by the MP (really!) @MrJohnNicolson, who clearly doesn’t have a clue who we are or what we do: please make a donation to us IN HIS NAME and we will tweet out your message.” #FactsNotLies "

The far right are well known for their concern for the rights and well being of gays and lesbians. nods sagely

Is the man drunk? What a foolish thing to say.

Regarding the diverting of people from LGB Alliance to Stonewall's website, I was surprised to find LBG Alliance won their case.

I'm reminded of the curious situation with Transgendertrend.com / Transgendertrend.co.uk
One of those diverts you to Mermaids.com.

Transgendertrend have filed a complaint but haven't won?

Indeed, opponents to gender critical viewpoints will stop at nothing including extremely underhand tactics.

Wbeezer · 26/04/2020 18:15

Unfortunately he's my MP, there is something unpleasant about him and he has so far said and done nothing to win me over.

This is the intruduction to the Newsnight segment about Billingham's Block Bot. I think he may have been interviewed.

"Controversy over Block Bot Twitter application
Newsnight's Gavin Esler and Paul Mason discuss The Block Bot, a Twitter application which automatically blocks some Twitter users on a central list, and the complaints Newsnight received from people saying that it had been incorrectly characterised."

I'd not seen that article before, rowantrees. Very interesting. I bet Vice wouldn't post something so neutral now, though.

R0wantrees · 26/04/2020 13:15

James Billingham was responsible for the creation of 'Block Bot'
It was discussed on BBC Newsnight with Billingham & Paul Mason but I cant find a link to it.

Vice 'I Am Now Officially a Transphobic Twitter Troll
At least according to the 'Block Blot' I am.'
By Martin Robbins
08 August 2014
(extract)

"It was for that reason that British atheist James Billingham created the Block Bot, a tool that enabled a community of users to rapidly detect and neutralise abusive accounts, adding them to a crowd-sourced block list.

It seemed like a good idea at the time (though some criticism seems eerily prescient today). Newsnight picked up the story, and some even suggested that Twitter should adopt the technology itself. Which makes it all the more remarkable that Caroline Criado-Perez is on the block list. Helen Lewis, a journalist and editor, has done more than most to highlight the abuse of women online – she too is on the block list. And – as of this week – so am I. What the fuck is happening?

Trying to find the reason for my block was like negotiating a sort of weird, passive-aggressive minefield." (continues)

Was the Challenors' 'Terf Blocker' a streamlined/re-launched version of 'Block Bot'?

Sexnotgender · 26/04/2020 13:00

Oh I didn’t know Billingham was sprout. Makes sense though.

'Demands to change definition of who should qualify as a woman in Scots equality law'
(extract)
'A consultation on how to implement a new law which aims to improve the number of women sitting on public authority boards has been overwhelmed with responses demanding that the Scottish Government change its definition of who should qualify as a woman. (continues)

concludes:
While most respondents were in favour of how the government wants the Act to be implemented and reported on, when asked for further comment, the analysts said the main comments centred on the fact that “the definition used has extended the legal definition of ‘woman’ far beyond the Equality Act”.

The Equality Act defines a woman as a “female of any age”. However, the definition in the GRPBA includes “a person who has the protected characteristic of gender reassignment”, which would include transwomen, including those without a Gender Recognition Certificate.

The draft guidance expanded it further to include those “always using female pronouns; using a female name on official documents such as a driving licence or passport, or on utility bills or bank accounts; describing themselves and being described by others in written or other communication using female language”.

The definition has been supported by feminist advocacy group Engender, but criticised by other organisations including Woman’s Place UK and For Women Scotland.

Asked if the government might change its definition based on the responses, a spokesperson said: “We are carefully considering the responses to the consultation on the draft guidance and will update respondents and those bodies directly affected by the legislation in due course. The amendment defining the meaning of women in the Bill was voted for unanimously by the Parliamentary Committee scrutinising the legislation.”

John Nicholson MP (Ochil and South Perthshire) represents all of his constituents, including women.
They may wish to establish if he is colluding with the Scottish government's re-definition of woman & female.

I don’t normally look at twitter but Jayney Godley seriously has an issue with women.

DaydreamingDay · 25/04/2020 19:46

Ugh Jayne Godley...DH tried to show me some kind of unfunny crap about Nicola Sturgeon and as soon as I saw her name on it I told him what she's about and he put it off. She's banned in our house. Can't stand women who gleefully hurt their own sex.

How is all the cash being spent? Well, I'm hoping at least some will go on legally challenging outright slander.

'LGB Alliance Wins Victory Over James Billingham in Domain Name Dispute'
April 16, 2020 by Dan Fisher

(extract)
"In a victory against the many bad faith domain names set up in the wake of their founding, the LGB Alliance have won their case against James Billingham.

An activist who tried to undermine and harass the lesbian, gay and bisexual campaign group LGB Alliance by setting up a fake website that redirected users to the website of Stonewall has lost his case in front of the UK’s national body for resolving disputes over domain names.

On 23rd October 2019, the day after LGB Alliance was set up, trans activist James Billingham registered the domain name lgballiance.uk that he later admitted was chosen to be as similar as possible to the domain name for the group’s own website.

Billingham explained that he was attempting to confuse supporters and drive traffic away from the group. To make matters worse, he then linked this domain name to Stonewall, an organisation that LGB Alliance has challenged. After an investigation, LGB Alliance’s tech team tracked down the owner of the copycat website.

Bev Jackson of LGB Alliance commented, “This shows the fear and determination of our opponents. Some people are so scared of us and of the prospect of open debate they even tried to stop supporters reaching our website.” (continues)

Jayney Godley identifies as a comedian.

DidoLamenting · 25/04/2020 19:18

I see from his Twitter feed the ghastly Jayney Godley is sticking up for him. She's awful too.

KaronAVyrus · 25/04/2020 19:16

He’s just so oily. And clearly loathes women.

DidoLamenting · 25/04/2020 19:15

He is awful. I was so glad when he lost his seat but unfortunately he got another constituency in 2019 and was re-elected.

Sexnotgender · 25/04/2020 18:28

I did see that thread, was fantastic! Bet he was raging 😂

SunsetBeetch · 25/04/2020 18:02

Did you see the thread on all the donations that people had made because of him? 😆

terryleather · 25/04/2020 16:51

He is now and has always been a grade A fud.

littlbrowndog · 25/04/2020 16:11

He is a total bam.

OhHolyJesus · 25/04/2020 15:52

The donations are not only published on the petition site but the spending would be accounted for as normal, as a charity or a company, on an annual basis.

As they have only recently celebrated their 6 month birthday he is rather premature and impatient.

I suspect I'm not the only women who has said that to him.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 25/04/2020 14:36

How is all the cash being spent? Well, I'm hoping at least some will go on legally challenging outright slander.
Which reminds me to go set up a donation.
