And it took me so long to type that, we've moved on completely! findumdum that makes much more sense to me. Also makes me believe this isn't something that 'just happened' they planned to do this to her.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 18/04/2020 09:54

But that's the whole point. We know the men recorded it.

We also know she suffered internal injuries serious enough to require medical treatment.

On the one hand I'm struggling to accept that a woman in that much pain would enthusiastically consent to group sex, but on the other knowing some of the stuff people get off to on the likes of Pornhub etc. I can unfortunately believe there are people who would still happily watch a woman being gang raped and convince themselves it is staged and consensual sex, but then we're getting into a whole new debate.

findumdum1 · 18/04/2020 09:53

I've seen a video allegedly of her (does look like her). It was hosted on some porn site. In it she is having consensual sex with one man. She is on top of him and some other boys are filming her behind her back, giggling silently. It looks very much to me like she did not know or consent to being filmed as they are trying to do it surreptitiously.

Homestayer · 18/04/2020 09:53

I haven't just taken their word for it.

I thought this whole case was very odd before they even mentioned it to me.

As previously stated, it's such a clear case of a miscarriage of justice, unless there is more going on than can be reported.

Having been in a few courts in my life (not as a defendant!) I have seen before how something can be reported very differently from what actually takes place in the court room.

Datun · 18/04/2020 09:52

This case has gone global home. With severe repercussions, not least to the reputation of Cyprus and their entire tourist industry.

Do you really think a video clearing up the entire case wouldn't be accessible online? Even your mate's seen it.

Datun · 18/04/2020 09:49

I wouldn't want to see it.

So you just take their word for it? And then repeat it, without wanting to make sure?

TheQueef · 18/04/2020 09:49

I thought that had been debunked Homestayer and the video released was consent with one (the guy she was seeing) the police use this excuse for her supposed retraction.

Homestayer · 18/04/2020 09:47

Datun I wouldn't want to see it.

Datun · 18/04/2020 09:45

A work colleague of mine claims to have seen it via WhatsApp.

Why don't they just show you?

Datun · 18/04/2020 09:44

but if one did exist it would explain why she was convicted

Did the judge mention it?

Homestayer · 18/04/2020 09:39

MrsDoyle you're right, but if one did exist it would explain why she was convicted in what otherwise appears an absolutely clear miscarriage of justice.

Homestayer · 18/04/2020 09:37

Good question. I assume because it shows an alleged crime so no mainstream website is going to host it.

They may also be injunctions in place that aren't being reported.

A work colleague of mine claims to have seen it via WhatsApp.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 18/04/2020 09:37

Apparently is doing a lot of work in that statement Homestayer

Datun · 18/04/2020 09:35

Why isn't that video going viral on the internet home? Surely the men must think it would help their case?

Homestayer · 18/04/2020 09:31

The problem she has is that while not widely reported in the British media, (although openly discussed in Israel and Cyprus), a video apparently exists of her enthusiastically consenting to the group sex with the men in question.

Now obviously the situation could have drastically changed once the video stopped being recorded as consent can be withdrawn at any time, but it does call into question her entire story as she clearly claims that she only consented to sex with one of the men, and the others being there was against her will.

Very difficult to get to the bottom of this whole thing.

MrGHardy · 18/04/2020 09:24

These men have seen so much porn most likely that they think it's every girls fantasy to happen upon a gangbang.

Gigia · 18/04/2020 08:28

I believe her and will also be boycotting Cyprus in the future.

Ratonastick · 17/04/2020 10:46

I started to watch the programme but couldn’t bear it. That ooor girl. I believe her. In fact, from the start I never doubted her for one second.

Germ1360 · 17/04/2020 10:45

I believe her.

moofolk · 17/04/2020 07:50

@Ontheboardwalk

Thanks I hadn't seen that statement before and it flags up a couple of points for me

  1. Definitely some phrases native English speakers are unlikely to use (although I'd dispute 'apartment', it is used on holiday even if we say 'flat' at home. IDK why but I think because it's foreign sounding). Do and have sometimes translate to the same word, that's a dead giveaway it's not an English person.
  1. FFS it is a crime to secretly film someone and to humiliate them. So even their defence, that they humiliated and covertly filmed a girl, all 'did sexual intercourse' with her to the point that she was bruised, crying and internally injured?

What a bunch of odious, disgusting scum bags.

ThrowingGoodAfterBad · 16/04/2020 19:06

Policemen unfortunately are no better than any other men and are part of the system which works against women. Always have been. Although there have been moves in Britain to try to improve the situation, they will continue to exist as long as misogynist men exist. I believe this girl and wish her all the best, she is an inspiration.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 16/04/2020 15:31

I believe her. Flowers

Tonz · 16/04/2020 09:17

I just watched her interview last night and cried most of the way through it. I always believed her from the start but now I've heard her whole story I'm so angry. What the actual fuck bullying a clearly traumatised girl into retracting a statement.
That poor young girl has so much courage and I hope she gets the justice she is bravely determined to get. Heartbreaking story and its not over yet. Come on girl we're all behind you

Nilbog · 15/04/2020 21:00

I believe her and I believe the statement was falsified and I believe the men were let go because of some hold Israel has over Cyprus. And I believe that there is such entrenched misogony in much of Israel that they don't care if the men did it or not, only that their country isn't tainted.

I have had the misfortune of meeting many men from Israel whose views and behaviours have been shocking in how they treat women.

GinnyLane · 15/04/2020 20:51

I believe her, and I wish her strength.
