Great stuff. I remember seeing reports of MNers seeing the adult human female postcards in the Science Museum shop. Now it seems they were being deposited all over the place before the lockdown. Brava, women!

Hopefully! Thanks for looking.

GCGayDad · 21/04/2020 23:30

I did go and check this afternoon but I couldn’t find the vile sign. Perhaps it’s been moved or taken down.

SophocIestheFox · 21/04/2020 19:18

Wow, that mosaic/poster/piece of doubleplus goodthink is quite something. Howlingly homophobic, of course, but best not to mention that!

If it is still there, I think one of the AHF postcards tacked on to it would enhance it enormously Grin

GCGayDad · 21/04/2020 12:24

Just to add, I would love to have taken it down, but it looked like a permanent fixture. I might wander over there on my daily walk and see if it's still there. I'll post an update...

GCGayDad · 21/04/2020 12:22

@NonnyMouse1337 and @EmpressLangClegInChair

I saw it on Christmas day 2019 attached to a bollard or something in the main gay village area of my city. It wasn't in a pub but very close to the main gay and lesbian pubs and bars. It looked like a permanent or very well-attached mosaic or sticker. Not saying which city as I want to keep my location private on here. I wish I'd taken a photo of it at the time, but it was a similar but more permanent-looking design to the attached photograph.

The location was close to the offices of the main local health promotion body for the alphabet-soup community. I wouldn't be surprised if that organisation had something to do with it. They are at least as woke as Stonewall.

@JellySlice - as I say, it wasn't in a gay pub, but from people I know, most gay men are simply not (yet) aware of this as an issue. It in no way means they think lesbians should have to have sex with male-bodied people.

In a gay pub? I thought gay men were totally on board with rejecting transmen as potential sexual partners.

EmpressLangClegInChair · 21/04/2020 11:13

It’d be a big up yours to whoever installed the “Genital preferences are transphobic” mosaic there.

Fucking hell. Are people scared to take it down in case they get accused of being transphobic themselves?

NonnyMouse1337 · 21/04/2020 10:59

It’d be a big up yours to whoever installed the “Genital preferences are transphobic” mosaic there.

ShockShockShock

That was actually displayed in one of the pubs? And no one seemed bothered about it?

GCGayDad · 21/04/2020 10:37

Tell you what - I’d love to post some of these postcards in some of the pubs and bars in my local gay village. You know those boxes they have for leaflets about arts events and gigs etc.? It’d be a big up yours to whoever installed the “Genital preferences are transphobic” mosaic there. Angry

"I so love watching the Posie and Harrop clip.

His little face at the end when he realises he's done exactly what Posie wanted him to!"

You can see the rusty cogs in his brain cranking round and then CLUNK! - the penny drops!! Grin

I bet his guts turned to water at that point!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g - That article is fantastic! Thank you so much for posting it!

I can't wait for the museums and art galleries to open again!

Better start stockpiling!

Ah come on now, which spoilsport got Robin’s post comparing feminists to Nazi guards at concentration camps deleted?

I think that really should have been preserved for posterity. Robin’s wise words on this topic are extremely enlightening and important.

At least we still have the one where Robin suggests that the dictionary definition of “woman” has a comparable emotional resonance for some people as a swastika does for others. Also very important, because words having meanings is exactly the same as symbols of totalitarian regimes that genocide countless millions of people, and we shouldn’t ever forget that.

"Intellectual courage" is certainly a unique way to say "obedience".

EmpressLangClegInChair · 15/04/2020 08:41

pope I think that’s very sensible.

I’m so glad all these women got their postcards in before the lockdown. Brilliant to see activity all over the country.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if this went international? Mujer postcards in Spanish museums, donna ones in Italy, femme in France etc?

popehilarious · 14/04/2020 14:14

I did used to engage with RMW but I hadn't realised their views on other races. I won't bother.

Clymene · 14/04/2020 13:39

What a wonderful article! Heartening to read of such coordinated positive action at a time when women are trapped in our homes, taking the lion's share of caring responsibilities and many of us at increased risk of violence from men.

HorseRadishFemish · 14/04/2020 10:36

I like "merail"...

HorseRadishFemish · 14/04/2020 10:33

Ah! I did have the feeling that it wouldn't come to anything.

R0wantrees · 14/04/2020 09:59

extract from article in OP

Postcards were left in the gift shop at the Science Museum in South Kensington on at least 4 occasions during February and March, leaving some Mumsnetters to speculate as to whether the museum had agreed to stock them.

Mumsnetters spotted the postcards on February 9th and again on 21st. Comments on the thread included:

“I thoroughly approve of this guerilla action…

Kudos to whichever brave woman put them there…

Can’t think of a better place for them than the Science Museum…

If I’d seen the postcards in the shop I would have tried to buy one …

It’s a stunning campaign, in my opinion. If the dictionary definition of the word woman is offensive, then that, in itself, is a headline worth shouting from the rooftops.” (continues)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/04/2020 09:59

This person always merails any threads they are on.

JellySlice · 14/04/2020 09:53

Please don't.

This is turning a thread about a very positive experience into a repetitive bicker with someone who has absolutely no interest in genuine engagement.

HorseRadishFemish · 14/04/2020 09:39

I'll give it my best shot:

Robin, your message seems to be that the dictionary definition of the word "woman" is now hate-speech.

Please say what you think the definition of "woman" ought to be nowadays.

HorseRadishFemish · 14/04/2020 09:34

I take it that "Robin" never, ever engages. Just a plopper, then? Not very brave.

Must try harder, Rob.

Datun · 14/04/2020 09:28

It wouldn't be so bad, if anyone, in the history of transactivism, had ever, even once, come up with even the smidge of a hint of an alternative definition.

Datun · 14/04/2020 09:25

' Mother noun adult parent '
' Lesbian noun female homosexual '
' Man noun adult human male '

Baggage
Baggage
Baggage

Right?

The thing is, robin, there is no baggage attached to these dictionary definitions. The baggage comes from you, it's in your head. Because humans can't change sex.
