Men pushing in in queues and not social distancing.

I know in the scheme of things this is only small but its the bloody entitlement that gets to me.

When the new Coronavirus Bill came in last Thursday two men used the 2 m gap to try to push in front while i was queuing outside Tesco.

Re, social distancing , i try i really try to stay 2m from people at all times on the rare occasions but the amount of men who walk right next to me or towards me KNOWING that i will move.

This afternoon was the final straw Queuing outside Sainsburys observing the 2 m rule i had to wait until the queue moved to where the trolleys were . There was no way i could get to them BEFORE queuing and observe the 2m rule so i had to wait in the queue before i got to them. I leant across to put my pound in the slot and the FOUR men queuing behind me jumped the queue by moving along in front.

Im so fed up with the entitlement Every time its been a man EVERY TIME. Ive not seen this from women at all .

Just, you're throwing that 'angry' accusation around quite freely. Is that part of the new, improved, nuanced Feminism that the other women here have yet to embrace

I'm not "throwing" anything around. I'm posting as I find and experience. Perhaps if all read back through the thread, as others have been advised to...they'd notice that some posters felt strongly and angrily enough to swear - in response to others posing a different view; and rather self righteously referred to anyone who didn't agree as 'misogynists' and 'apologists'.

Personally see this whole lock-down crisis as bringing out some of the worst in human nature. Male and female.

Datun · 08/04/2020 14:19

Still not angry 👍

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 08/04/2020 14:17

Justhadathought

That is exactly what happens on here. Exactly. And yet they will deny it until their very last breath.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 08/04/2020 14:15

I'm not being condescending, this a false allegation.

Yeah you are

Justhadathought · 08/04/2020 14:14

*How are you recognising the abusive behaviour of women towards shop workers then? Only all I'm seeing is attempts to shut me up, mock me and belittle me8

I attended an all girl secondary school. I really appreciated that. Sport is always better for girls in single sex schools ( I've been a teacher, myself, too), in my view and experience; and we also had lots of strong female role models, along with a culture of positive expectation around academic achievement etc.

I've never been a 'group person', preferring the company of perhaps just one or two best friends. I instinctively dislike large groups, because people inevitably end up trying to conform in order to fit in or please the group.

Girls in groups can be very cruel to other girls who don't quite fit, or who don't conform in some way (most of us probably have the experience of the 'bitchy' clique at school, or in the work place) - and there is tendency to close ranks both emotionally, psychologically and sometimes physically ( by forming a circle and turning their back towards 'the reject'). Girls can specialise in emotional bullying and exclusion - and in a way that boys don't tend to.

What i have noticed on Mumsnet is women gathering together and closing ranks by discussing baking and recipes. It's quite odd, and not something I'd encountered before, and not something I'd choose to engage in myself.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 14:12

Well, Hooves is, but that appears to be the default for them.

TinselAngel · 08/04/2020 14:12

I'm not angry either. Who is?

Datun · 08/04/2020 14:09

I'm not in the slightest bit angry and if Ro was any more chilled, she'd be asleep.

R0wantrees · 08/04/2020 14:08

I'm not refusing to do so. I'm assuring you that there is no need for me to re read what has been written. The meaning is abundantly clear. You being condescending towards me does not alter what has been said.

R0wantrees Wed 08-Apr-20 11:32:57
R0 Have a re-read, please.

Hooves I don't need to. I don't agree with, nor support, the branch of feminism that you advocate. So no, you don't speak for me nor fight in my name.

R0 Hooves I haven't said I agreed or advocated for any type of feminism nor have I expressed a wish or am likely to ever claim to speak for or fight in your name.

If you read what was actually written you wouldn't be trying to start a boxing match with shadows. You've said you don't want to read to understand so prehaps you just want to box/fight/disrupt?

Hmm

I'm not being condescending, this a false allegation.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 14:08

It's quite hard to be angry when you're giggling but I suppose I could try if it's really important to people.

Datun · 08/04/2020 14:08

It's extraordinary. We have to view female behaviour through the context of male entitlement. Or apply different context altogether for balance?

🤣

I don't doubt that's all you're seeing Hooves

Earlier this morning I suggested you might understand more accurately if you re-read what people posted.
You've refused to do so.
Your choice of course.

Justhadathought · 08/04/2020 14:00

I'm still tickled. Feminists being airily dismissed or angrily told off for participating in a thread about observed male behaviour on a feminist focused section of a large chat board

Funnily, what I've witnessed is a few women telling others how to 'do' feminism properly, and then getting angry when those same women come back with an alternative view.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 13:58

Folk music. Hate it with a fiery passion. I deal with this by avoiding it whenever possible. Behold my wisdom and learn from it!

FloralBunting · 08/04/2020 13:58

🤣😂🤣

I just can't. I'm not really trying very hard today, granted, but still.

Justhadathought · 08/04/2020 13:57

Life, and people too, are far more nuanced than that

Justhadathought · 08/04/2020 13:56

Along with the enigma of why feminists would look at male behaviour through a lens of male entitlement and male privilege

If that is your definition and application of feminism, then that is obviously what you will tend to do; but it is not the sole definition or application of feminism. And if if was then it would give equal validity to someone who chose to look at everything you said or did through a lens of white, western, middle class, 'cis' privilege?

I reject both of those stances, myself. It is far too inter-sectionalist in its rigidity for my liking; and life tends to far more nuance than that.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 08/04/2020 13:53

Yes. It was men.

In the ops example. But not exclusive to men.

My examples were of female behaviour then?

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 08/04/2020 13:52

Really Rowan? How are you recognising the abusive behaviour of women towards shop workers then? Only all I'm seeing is attempts to shut me up, mock me and belittle me.

No recognition of the abusive behaviour at all.

Datun · 08/04/2020 13:51

Is it "male behaviour" though?

Yes. It was men.

R0wantrees · 08/04/2020 13:49

I think it is important to recognise behaviour patterns generally when there is detrimental impact to others

So you don't think women shoppers being abusive to checkout operators is having a detrimental impact on those staff then?

Its really interesting Hooves that you might choose to suggest this.
It only speaks of you.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 08/04/2020 13:47

Along with the enigma of why feminists would look at male behaviour through a lens of male entitlement and male privilege

Is it "male behaviour" though? Why isn't it "human behaviour" if women are doing exactly the same behaviour?
