Interesting that Elton did this. Would you guess it’s a slip up, or Elton being straightforward.

Yep, I guess he's one of those blokes that wanks at himself in the mirror (SS that is, not Elton)

Lordfrontpaw · 31/03/2020 10:54

Oh like those people who marry themselves?

BruceAndNosh · 31/03/2020 10:53

I think Sam IS Sam's soulmate.

Lordfrontpaw · 31/03/2020 08:29

DidoLamenting - so when SS meets their soulmate ‘so when did did you realise that Sam was the, errr, two/several/many...?’

jadefinch · 31/03/2020 07:31

The article that expressed outrage that Sam Smith was misgendered by Elton John - and then referred to him with male pronouns - has now been amended so the pronouns are they and them

DidoLamenting · 31/03/2020 00:20

I liked it better when I didn’t know who you were.

..is my favourite

And so beautifully non- specific for recycling. I'm going to use that one often.

"Stop picking on us", possibly?

Hmm, interesting- how far does one persist with plural pronouns?

(I'm rather fond of "one" and will shoehorn it in when possible)

Beard, Bluehair and Anime, the latest glittery Usborne title, premiering in Libraries and schools around the country, read by Sparkly McHunt, a Drag Queen who requests no one look too closely at his Twitter feed before bringing their kids along.

Marvel at the adventures of three plucky ciphers, as they learn that tantrums, nail polish and eyeliner can create a magical forceful to keep reality from getting too close...

Beard, Bluehair and Anime

Excellent post ronniebarkingmad I've screenshotted it because, you know, 1984 and everything being weird these days.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 30/03/2020 18:19

Good point Judas. I think that takes a strong sense of self awareness and a good sense humour though, which although Rod Stewart seems to have in spades, SS is clearly lacking.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 30/03/2020 18:08

Blimey you don’t see Rod Stewart fans kicking off every time Elton refers to Rod as ‘She’ do you? Guess they’re just a bit more relaxed...

symbioticpatriot · 30/03/2020 18:06

Actually quite liked Sam’s music in an easy listening kind of way. Was in the O2 crowd a couple of years back when we all had to cheer and applaud for him for being a proud and out gay man or something similar. Fine. Seems weird in a short space of time that to call him the same thing is now misgendering. Very puzzling. I long ago stopped following as he seems to equate a pair of heels and a skirt with being a woman.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 30/03/2020 18:01

I have some tea bread left lady (would have to throw it to maintain social distancing...)

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 30/03/2020 18:00

Oh FFS SS /they fans Wink are just utterly pathetic

I don’t even think it’s Elton taking the piss I think he’s just being a (?) 70yr old man saying what he sees!

LadyQuarantinaPluckington · 30/03/2020 17:47

God, I really want some fruitcake now. Damn it.

nauticant · 30/03/2020 16:23

I'm saddened to see the fruitcakephobes have arrived on this thread.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 30/03/2020 16:13

Sadly no one ever wants them.

I suppose someone has to be the fruitcake of the musical world.

RonnieBarkingMad · 30/03/2020 16:13

Smith appears to be on the unofficial must not be criticized list so no doubt this thread will go.

What I don’t understand, genuinely don’t understand, is:

Sam Smith is a cunt.
Sam Smith is a man.

This is one of the few uk based forums (at least one I’m a member of) that allows uncensored language on it. One of the above statements is an opinion, the other one is a truth. One contains an offensive and insulting word and the other one does not. One of those statements from me is a lie and the other one isn’t (I don’t actually think SS is a cunt, I just used it for the point, I find him annoying with a shrill singing voice but that’s the extent of it).

Why is the aggressive, opinionated statement fine to stand on here but the non-aggressive, truthful statement considered a risk for deletion? What is it about this that makes it delete-worthy specifically compared to writing a post calling someone a cunt, just because I felt like it? Man, male, male-born, male-bodied, men.. these are not offensive words or insults, so it’s not even on the level of free speech, like calling someone specifically derogatory names like a ft or a nr or a p**i, just because someone has the ability to call someone those sorts of names, so they will.

It’s so disproportionate. On here, and in real life too.

HorseRadishFemish · 30/03/2020 16:07

Beard, Bluehair and Anime just happen to be my solicitors.

LadyQuarantinaPluckington · 30/03/2020 15:12

I have been enjoying the divine Ms. Rowling tweeting a steady stream of positive, community minded posts supporting key workers etc. and without fail there being a beard or blue hair or anime avatar in the comments calling her a T**F.

It is heart warming to see that these posts are mere punctuation marks in an otherwise overwhelming positive response - not so easy to 'cancel' people now we have been reminded what an actual life and death issue is, and how it has absolutely nothing to do with validating yer pronouns...

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 14:04

Possibly. Who is writing the new language? The Minitrue?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 30/03/2020 14:03

"Stop picking on us", possibly?

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 13:58

I don't think EJ gives a monkey's, to be honest. My money woul dbe on Elton if it came down to a verbal (or even physic) spat. I imagine SS would just flop on the floor and cry, and say 'stop picking on meeeee, you're so mean!' (they are 'me' aren't they and not 'we'?).

SistemaAddict · 30/03/2020 13:58

This gave me joy in my heart when I saw it on Facebook just now. I've no time for narcs like Smith. There's more to worry about in the world than your bloody pronouns mate. Grow up.
