I’m sure they were asking for your ‘sex at birth’ previously?

Indeed. Triggered. Just as presumably all the gendah people were triggered by it asking for sex at birth, which is, of course, the term that matters.

minimummum · 29/03/2020 18:19

It asked me sex at birth then what I identify as now

Theyearofthestress · 29/03/2020 18:19

Aren’t there bigger things to worry about Hmm
It’s clearly done to attract accurate data. A trans woman may well put ‘female’ so to gain clear biological data (e.g the one that matters!) they’re asking it in a woke way.
I don’t think they care about politics, they just want scientifically accurate data from a population of mostly non-scientific people. Anyone trans or otherwise will be able to answer it clearly unless they are a GC feminist that is just soo triggered by the question.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 29/03/2020 18:13

With Covid19 victims coming in at 70% male, it will be interesting to see what effect gender identity has on this.

BeetrootRocks · 29/03/2020 18:08

If someone was born in an area without medical support as standard during birth, they would have no sex then? According to this.

stillathing · 29/03/2020 18:07

This is horrible and makes me feel somewhat afraid. I don't want the people in charge of studying the spread of covid - 19 to be gender ideologues. I want their methods to be based on science and accurate data.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 29/03/2020 18:01

Using obfuscating language in a global pandemic when they need accurate data is a headfuck.

So somebody has seen scientists working hard to try to save lives and their first thought was - 'are they assUMIN my gendah?'. Please.

Halfeatentoast · 29/03/2020 17:58

Ah yes my friend sent me this link yo the app earlier. I was so annoyed at that bit I stopped.

Datun · 29/03/2020 17:54

It's nonsense. Assigned at birth is an intersex term.

Accuracy should lead to 'none' and is this only a question for intersex people?

ThinEndoftheWedge · 29/03/2020 17:47

Using obfuscating language in a global pandemic when they need accurate data is a headfuck.

This.

JellyfishandShells · 29/03/2020 17:46

Yes- I was pleasantly pleased when I filled in the questionnaire a few days ago that it avoided this assigned nonsense.

HDDD · 29/03/2020 17:45

Using obfuscating language in a global pandemic when they need accurate data is a headfuck. Some people will have never seen that language before and stop right there. Infuriating.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 29/03/2020 17:43

"assigned as" would be better.

Binterested · 29/03/2020 17:42

Its more than that though. Someone’s had to go in and change the coding on the underlying database to accept this new question and somehow make the nonsense answers make sense. Unless the ‘what sex were you assigned as birth’ replaces the previous sex question and the second one is just totally disregarded on the database because they didn’t ask the first responders and because it’s irrelevant.

Which leaves you with a ‘sex assigned at birth’ question which is in itself not great because all same people know this doesn’t happen so they will have to apply common sense and answer the question which should have been asked. Namely ‘what sex are you?’

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 29/03/2020 17:39

I have neither the time nor the emotional energy to expend on pandering to this shit anymore. They want to go that way, they can go without me.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 29/03/2020 17:39

There is also the email address [email protected]

I imagine promoting sociological ideological euphemistic bullshit at this time when you need the app to prove and provide scientific and fact base information is not a good look if publicised in the media.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 29/03/2020 17:38

They can fuck off, then.

DidoLamenting · 29/03/2020 17:29

Because it’s irrelevant
I think it’s a woke workaround

I agree 99.99% of the population won't care and will treat the question as asking "what sex are you?" and will answer male or female.

A tiny proportion of gender critical feminists will make a fuss that they can't answer because they "weren't assigned a sex at birth"

A tiny proportion of trans rights activists will either welcome it or find something to make a fuss about.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 29/03/2020 17:25

And what happens if the Midwife was having an off day and assigned incorrectly...

ChickenonaMug · 29/03/2020 17:13

On page 2 of this thread are 2 screenshots which show that the Zoe app did indeed ask for a person’s sex at birth.

BeetrootRocks · 29/03/2020 17:03

Hardly anyone was assigned a sex at birth though.

Only intersex people and due to the history of very young children being subjected to surgery means that isn't really how it works now either.

Is there a 'none' option for the assigned sex? Guessing not.

Binterested · 29/03/2020 17:00

Oh ffs. It was clear and simple at the beginning.

Lordfrontpaw · 29/03/2020 16:45

They might as well ask of you dye your hair

PicturesOfCats · 29/03/2020 16:31

I think they’re doing it to appease, but also ensure they’re getting the data they need.
They’re asking what gender were you assigned at birth, and I’m guessing they’re looking at that, and completely ignoring the other question about how people identify.
Because it’s irrelevant.
I think it’s a woke workaround

Tartyflette · 29/03/2020 16:29

Thanks, Mrs will send one now.
