NC but regular FWR poster.

So, as the nation's children are at home, Andrew Moffatt is going to be creating videos of his 'No Outsiders' books and assemblies for them to watch.

This is being promoted by schools already and I'm concerned parents will have no idea about the harm this material promotes in relation to girls and gender ideology.

If you work in schools please keep a close eye on this.

I noticed that too Mole, it's a Christian source on the Warwickshire All About Me story too. There are some very clear religious undercurrents at play and both faiths are being manipulated in MSM to appear to be the good guy or the bad guy, depending on the position of the media outlet. I'm sure Pink News would tackle this completely differently.

“John Denning, Education Officer at The Christian Institute, called for swift action to ensure parents are aware of the changes.

Mr Denning said: “Warwickshire’s climbdown will come as welcome news to hundreds of concerned parents. The highly explicit imagery and one-sided ideology of All About Me has no place in Primary Relationships Education.

“Schools are obviously facing a challenging time at the moment. But as soon as they can, they must consult with parents on a different approach to teaching RSE which complies with the law. As with other teaching in state schools, it must be balanced, objective and critical, not pushing particular controversial views such as transgender ideology.”

The lessons appear to be exactly the same currently as he's linked to the same book on his website.

You can just buy fucking lanyards.

skql · 13/04/2020 13:28

i can't believe him.
hope canceling no outsider program.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/04/2020 13:22

Apologies I didn't rtft properly and am living in a fog at the moment.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/04/2020 13:20

Oh it's now a charity?!

Sorry I probably on catch up here.

A charity?!

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/04/2020 13:19

I see the new slogan is "no one is the same, everyone is equal" Hmm

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/04/2020 13:18

The original no outsiders was all around homosexuality; he cottoned onto the EA without much forethought of how the different characteristics are difficult to juggle in reality. May be he's backtracking?

I've not had as much time as I did to look into it all; my son is at a school where they do it.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/04/2020 13:15

No, I mean that obviously there's been more awareness of the harm within trans ideology and some tv coverage plus the Kiera Bell case. I wonder if he's picked up on it.

The contrast in the Guardian article between references to different faith groups is intriguing, to say the least!

"Almost all – 98% – of children at Parkfield community school are Muslim, and many of their parents joined the noisy protests, orchestrated by outside activists, against the government’s plans to introduce relationships and sex education from September 2020. The protesters alleged Parkfield was already teaching four- and five-year-olds about gay sex, and even said teachers were using clay models to demonstrate LGBT “sexual mechanics” to infant classes."

(Subtext: the protesters were not actually "Muslim parents" at all, they were "outside activists". "Muslim parents" just sort of "joined in" as if by accident because they had nothing better to do or because they were naive enough to have been taken in by these "outside activists")

vs

"Interestingly, it was a Church of England vicar, who wrote to Moffat praising the No Outsiders programme who prompted the re-think.

“He asked me to consider that for some people of faith, while ‘tolerating’ LGBT was realistic, ‘celebrating’ was not. This stuck in my throat. My initial response was to accuse him of being homophobic and of asking me to accept his homophobia.

“But, on reflection, I realised all he was asking for was to be allowed to tolerate rather than celebrate. Is that an unreasonable request? I may get a backlash from the LGBT community, but I think I am being realistic. To say ‘I know you are Muslim, gay, black’ is not inviting people to make any judgment. They just need to know.”

(Subtext: Hey! Christians! Nothing to see here! I realise now that you nice people, who do your "outside activism" on fine vellum with a first class stamp, are not homophobic!"

Just imagining the Guardian article take if that vignette had been about Transgender Trend rather than Andrew Moffat . . . frenzied screams of "Allied with alt-right religious groups!"

GRAConcerns · 13/04/2020 11:21

So he's promoting his new book?

Meanwhile his Trust is promoting his services to other schools on social media. This is being reshared by some influential education professionals. Including those in Warwickshire (maybe this will fill the 'void' left by the 'all about me' programme. I mean, schools can't be without at least one regressive, sexist, programme can they?)

Last year Moffatt fronted the Pride parade.

Why is he treated like a celebrity? What has he actually done?

More harm than good potentially, in terms of reinforcing harmful stereotypes when it comes to girls.

Did he attend a Detrans-A-N meeting last year, Neurotrash?

I must admit that from the Newspaper article it does not sound as if there are any significant changes, other than replacing "celebrate" with "accept/tolerate". Just a sprinkling of sugar to help the medicine go down.

The emphasis is all on homosexuality in the write-up, which does not reflect the fact that there was a lot of the concern expressed by parents was about the gender identity aspects.

The whole article is appalling in terms of it being "journalism". Incredibly biased and in parts inaccurate: part press-release, part propaganda.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/04/2020 07:12

Hmmm interesting. Thanks moles.

I wonder what his trans lessons look like after last year's detrans advocacy network?

MoleSmokes · 13/04/2020 04:11

Slight change of tack by Andrew Moffatt:

"Don't 'celebrate' gay people, just accept us, says teacher at centre of schools row"
A year on from the protests in Birmingham, Andrew Moffat is still promoting his No Outsiders programme - with a twist
The Guardian 7 April 2020

Andrew Moffat, the gay teacher targeted by Muslim anti-LGBT protesters at Parkfield community school in Birmingham, is wearing his usual rainbow lanyard and says he feels safe again. A year on from the ugly scenes outside the school gate, his hands no longer tremble, there have been no recent death threats, and he doesn’t have to call home when he arrives at work each morning.

He’s just published his second book, No Outsiders: Everyone Different, Everyone Welcome, a new version of his award-winning lessons on equality [1], No Outsiders.

As a result of his experience at Parkfield a year ago, where activists and parents protested against lessons at the school, wrongly claiming they were part of the government’s plans for relationships and sex education, and hundreds of children were withdrawn from school by their parents, Moffat has made one significant change to his second book. Now he no longer calls on everyone to “celebrate” LGBT people. Instead, he wants the community to accept that there are different sexual orientations and that LGBT+ people exist.

The change is likely to face “a roar of disapproval from defenders of LGBT equality”, he acknowledges.

He has also moved to a new job, leaving his post as Parkfield’s assistant head responsible for personal development for a wider role of personal development lead for the whole of the Excelsior trust, to which the school belongs.

Looking back at the protests, Moffat thinks the word “celebrate” might have been a sticking point for some Muslim parents.

Interesting regarding some of the background on Moffatt rather than the author's view points.

Missed this, placemarking. Have big issues with NO.

GivesNoFox · 02/04/2020 17:57

That should have been intolerance against gays

GivesNoFox · 02/04/2020 17:53

However, a lot of the criticism toward him (not on Mumsnet, in society more generally) has been homophobic. Therefore, if I was in his charity, I probably would want to be anonymous.

This is the uncertain future the LGB community are facing at the hands of modern day transgender ideology. People who promote this ideology, even if they are LGB themselves (Moffat, Ruth Hunt, stonewall et al) are actively throwing other LGB people under the bus and essentially disintegrating all the hard work gays have done to claim equal rights for the past century, all because it gets them brownie points a cushy job or monetary gain.

I cannot express the level my disgust at other gay people who do this so nonchalantly.

The reality is the basic bog standard person getting on with their life and not versed in the difference between transgender and gay is going to lump all of us together, so when their intolerance at trans madness increases their tolerance against the gays will increase as well because they see us as one amorphous blob. There's a reason why LGBT tolerance has dropped 20% in the US and I can almost guarantee you its not simply because "Trump is making everyone more racist".

Moffat receiving homophobic abuse, as wrong as that is most likely due to the fact that his work involves children and people are normally very protective when kids are involved to the point where all civil convo flies out the window unfortunately. Again not saying that's right, just saying that's how humans tend to flow most of the time.

Also there's the fact that Trans ideology is a very medicalised ideology which will have many adults up in arms when this is pushed on kids as a whole, rightly so in my opinion.

The Trustees, whoever they might be, are presumably holding Moffat accountable for ensuring that the Charitable aims are met . . .

Trustees: "So Andrew, how are we getting on with the Charity's aims: building community cohesion and preventing children being drawn into terrorism and far right activities."

Our Hero: Well, on Community Cohesion, you only have to Google "No Outsiders" school protests - let me do that for you:

lmgtfy.com/?q=%22no+outsiders%22+school+protests

As you can see, the protests started in Birmingham but later spread to other parts of the UK.

Even Parliament has taken an interest - Questions in The House are always a good indication of widespread support! The Labour Party has been in absolute turmoil. At least one MP was disciplined but I am too modest to suggest that we played any significant role in Labour losing seats at the last Election.

On far right extremism, could I draw your attention to this article in the Birmingham Mail on 4th January 2020?

'We are as Muslim as we are LGBT' - Charity condemns spikes in hate crime after school protests
Hate crimes that targeted Muslims and gay community both peaked in March last year, at the time of school protests over LGBT teachings

www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/we-muslim-lgbt-charity-condemns-17205182

"Attacks on members of the LGBT and Muslim communities rose after No Outsiders protests in January last year at Parkfield Community School in Saltley.

Angry parents also began demos outside Anderton Park School in Sparkbrook in March 2019 over LGBT teachings - before eventually being banned by the courts.

A total of 453 homophobic hate incidents were reported to West Midlands Police in the six months from February to the end of July. That was nearly DOUBLE the number in the previous six months.

Figures released by police also show a significant spike in attacks on Birmingham's Muslim community around the same time.

Average monthly complaints to police normally number around 10, but that rocketed to 22 reports in March."

I will leave you to read the rest at your leisure - they have even got graphs that tie "No Outsiders" to the spike in incidents and rising intolerance of diversity!

Even people who are not parents of children at the schools got involved in the protests, so "No Outsiders" has been bringing people together in common cause way beyond our expectations!

Of course, from the contents of the "No Outsiders Programme" and how things were handled you could almost guarantee an increase in homophobia. However, there was also an increase in attacks on Muslims in the area during the school protests. Surely no coincidence?

As I am sure you are aware, the Far Right lap this sort of stuff up and Homophobia + Islamophobia is a winning combination. Seeing local communities taking the initiative will have made the Far Right realise that there is no point organising in the area or initiating any problems as we have done all this without their help and they will stay away.

We must never forget parents and there has been great interest, including a detailed analysis of the "No Outsiders" Programme on the website "Transgender Trend". From that name, you may surmise that those parents are keen as mustard to promote the trend of as many children as possible transitioning and that the Review is more than flattering!

Just look at the headline! It makes my queered little heart jump for joy!

"No Outsiders : Queering the Primary Classroom"

www.transgendertrend.com/no-outsiders-queering-primary-classroom/

As far as preventing children becoming involved in terrorism is concerned, it is really too soon to say. However, with our impact on dividing communities and just about everyone becoming completely enraged this will surely bear fruit in future as the children grow up.

They are not going to forget having to pass through angry protests as they go to school and then being taken out of school for long periods by unhappy parents. They will have seen the increase in homophobia and Islamophobia at close hand and possibly even felt the impact directly. Who knows how intimidated and ostracised they might feel and how soon they might feel the urge to join the fray?

That reminds me - even families have been divided. So we have been effective at every level of life, from families, through just about every faith group, political parties, right up to Parliament."

Trustees: "Thank you Andrew. Good work. Would a pay rise be OK with you? Perhaps nomination for another award for services to education and the community?"

R0wantrees · 01/04/2020 22:41

However, a lot of the criticism toward him (not on Mumsnet, in society more generally) has been homophobic. Therefore, if I was in his charity, I probably would want to be anonymous.

'No Outsiders' is generating significant funds & gives Andrew Moffat a platform.
It is significantly influencing a generation of primary school children in the UK.
There is, IMO, no good reason why a trustee of this sort of charity should be invisible.
There must be transparency in children's & vulnerable adults' charities for Safeguarding reasons.

WrathofFaeKIopp · 01/04/2020 21:07

I see a similar privilege when a DBS check is done, where the legal sex and name has changed.

WrathofFaeKIopp · 01/04/2020 21:03

It is interesting to learn there are dispensations for privacy in certain circumstances.
I can see why this is important for the safety of the trustees.

How soon then, would dispensation be used as a tool to bypass Charity Commission regulations by certain people with self serving interests?

GlitterToast · 01/04/2020 20:41

It's fine to criticize Moffat. I am no fan of how he's dealt with this issue. I also think that his lessons on gender identity are dangerous.

However, a lot of the criticism toward him (not on Mumsnet, in society more generally) has been homophobic. Therefore, if I was in his charity, I probably would want to be anonymous.

Apollo440 · 01/04/2020 20:28

Sorry. How is criticism or scrutiny of Moffat unjustified or homophobic? We are dealing with schools here. No case for cloak an dagger. Unless you're hiding something.....

GlitterToast · 01/04/2020 20:19

I'm no fan of Moffat, but I do think that he gets a lot of unjustified homophobic abuse. I can see why the trustees would want to be anonymous sadly. Sad
