A few questions for feminists

  1. Why is feminism so small in number? They get plenty of airtime but it isn't catching on. Women know about it so why no support?
  1. Feminists want equality of opportunity and equality of outcome but how can you have both when it's impossible? You want to give women choice, but then want exactly 50% of men and women in each industry. This can only be achieved by forcing women (and men) to do jobs they don't want to or choose to do. Explain?
  1. Why do you think the earnings difference is due to gender when time and time again it has been shown it has nothing or very little to do with it. Why feminists not take into account the 40 or so factors which affect earnings, such as men are more likely to work longer hours, do more overtime, take less holidays, work more dangerous jobs, willing to relocate, willing to commute further, etc etc?

Please discuss.

How on this earth can you be a woman and not be a feminist yourself?? I’m not a Freud fan but I think you’ve got penis envy! Being a feminist means you do what you want, regardless. I don’t even understand where your coming from??!!

FlockofGulls · 20/03/2020 10:58

I clean my oven in stages: put all the racks in the oven cleaning bags I buy hopefully in Poundland. Then spay the oven floor. Then think, Gosh I'm exhausted. Pour wine.

Repeat over 2 weeks until I'm desperate to make a casserole or bake peppers, and then get water everywhere & hope that the racks haven't corroded.

I'm at Stage 2: racks are shining, oven floors still grotty. And let's not talk about the glass doors.

Can only eat shop-bought cake. The shame

FlockofGulls · 20/03/2020 10:54

HA HA! Grin Now I've RTFT Blush I see you're chatting baking - I'm still in the middle of the 2 weeks it takes me to clean my oven. But the link to the Feminism 101 blog FAQ is really useful to send to these sorts of wankers. So cut out & keep, sisters.

Now off to buy my own yoga mat oh dear so I can feel as safe as possible in my Pilates class.

FlockofGulls · 20/03/2020 10:49

Oh, and here's a really easy link to click

[[https://finallyfeminism101.wordpress.com/where-to-start/faq-i-asked-some-feminists-a-question-and-instead-of-answering-they-sent-me-here-why/ I asked some feminists a question and instead of answering they sent me here]

Please discuss

No thanks.

Please educate yourself:

And then DFOD

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 20/03/2020 10:47

He can start with "Why is feminism so small in number?"

With posts like these I am reminded of several popular Facebook tag groups, such as

"Why are men"
"Of Course You Call Them Females"
"Dick is abundant and low value"

etc

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 20/03/2020 10:41

It wouldn't really be in the spirit of the game, I'm afraid. It's like when you're playing "Who would you rather kiss" in Year 6, you HAVE to choose between the given options. It's not acceptable to go "Eeerrrgh, neither!" or claim that you'd kill yourself rather than be forced to choose between your headmaster and the weird kid in the year below who has halitosis and nits.

Hmmmm... Grizzly bear or python... Am I allowed to shoot myself in the head before either of them get to me?? Grin

Ooo rosehip syrup! Used to love that. I'd probably find it far too sickly sweet now I'm no longer a child

That was the genius of mixing it with lemon juice, which was too sharp.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 20/03/2020 10:00

Maybe he can work on his spag in the meantime, Buzz. He can start with "Why is feminism so small in number?"

Is that guy going to get bitten by a venomous spider next? Maybe a tiger attack for variety?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 20/03/2020 09:55

Haha I bet OP is climbing the walls not being able to silence the uppity women who are outright mocking him. Never mind, I'm sure he'll be back soon under a new name to re-educate us, he won't be able to help himself.

FannyCann · 20/03/2020 09:33

Just to muddy the waters let's throw in a shark attack. Here's someone who can definitively tell us which was worst!

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-43858481

I'd rather be bitten by a very poisonous snake. Probably quite a quick death.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/03/2020 09:28

Didn’t realise there was previous with this one.

Yeah, that's how come he has his own nickname. While 'midnight misogynists' used to be quite a common intermittent occurrence, this one has a very distinctive style and set of questions.

chilling19 · 20/03/2020 09:23

😂😂😂 thank you mumsnetters. Needed a laugh this morning. Also Clara- thanks for letting the thread stand.

Fieldofgreycorn · 20/03/2020 09:15

It's not like anyone actually has to hunt the MM. I think it's the PBP rule which applies to him.

Ah right. Didn’t realise there was previous with this one.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 20/03/2020 09:06

Quentin, you definitely have to make them into a jelly and use jam sugar, as they have itchy seeds in the middle and you don't want any of those on your toast. It has a very delicate flavour so it's best to let it stand alone. Having said that, adding a few elderberries does take it to a whole other level. I wish it was autumn already.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 20/03/2020 08:47

It's more fruity than floral, Quentin. I love the tea, never tried the jam.

QuentinWinters · 20/03/2020 08:43

Is rosehip jam nice? I'm a bit of a forager but never tried that and I don't know what a rosehip tastes like

ErrolTheDragon · 20/03/2020 08:42

When I was a kid, fresh oranges came out of fresh oranges, a lot of squeezing to get half a glassful. Frozen tubes of Florida orange concentrate were a luxury.

So DM used to give us a rather lovely mix of rosehip syrup (from Boots) and PLJ bottled lemon juice.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 20/03/2020 08:32

Also also, in case anyone doesn't know cause the name is in Spanish, you know the bright purple drink you sometimes see in Mexican restaurants called jamaica? Hibiscus, full of vitamin C (and won't make your tummy hurt like orange juice can).

(Yes, I have officially hit the "concerned" stage. Still not understanding what everyone is planning to do with all the hoarded loo roll though, build zombie repelling forts possibly.)

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 20/03/2020 08:27

I love rosehips. A jar of beautiful, pale pink rosehip jelly is a wondrous thing to have in your cupboard at the tail end of the autumn. For vitamin C, I also recommend hibiscus tea if you can get hold of it.

Mummy issues is probably a good guess. Maybe she has told him that he can't have a ping pong table in his basement and he's real pissed at her.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/03/2020 08:26
  • I said I was a feminist to a co worker and he said "you can't be, you're married" (to a man).

In his mind they are mutually exclusive. *

Increasingly when I hear things like this (and other idiocies such as the OPs 'You want to give women choice, but then want exactly 50% of men and women in each industry. ') I just want to say 'Don't be so silly'.
