I'm slightly suspicious that he has seen which way the wind is blowing, and isn't a natural champion of women.

Nevertheless, it is good that he has put a toe in the water and will no doubt encourage a few thousand others into the water.

All my years of fancying him, finally rewarded!

I used to like him and Billy Bragg. Who knew that Gary would be the one defending women's rights and putting himself out there?

Needmoresleep · 12/03/2020 14:08

(Sorry Gary for spelling your name wrong.)

teawamutu · 12/03/2020 14:06

Frances Barber, the actress, has been tweeting too.

RoyalCorgi · 12/03/2020 14:04

Wow, he took his time, but well done.

I wonder two things:

1 Will he get the same kind of abuse that other prominent celebrities like JK Rowling and Graham Linehan have received for speaking out?

2 Will his example encourage others to follow suit? After all, Lineker is both dead respectable and very famous, so you wonder if his example might spur others to find their voices.

Always loved Gary, love him even more now!

Spotted Linacre at the National theatre last week in the audience of Rafe Spall's extraordinary monologue 'Death of England'.

One of the biggest laughs of the night was when Owen Jones was mentioned. No particular context. Just mentioning Owen Jones' name was funny to a metropolitan audience. Perhaps Linacre took note. Time to distance from the Guardian.

So pleased to see more people in the public eye beginning, tentatively, to express GC support.

I hope he says more too. Men listen to ex-footballers, and unfortunately no-one in power listens to anyone but men.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 12/03/2020 13:41

Yay! Hope he will speak out more!

MoleSmokes · 12/03/2020 13:41

At flippin' last! Grin

Gary Lineker onside!

I have my problems with that article, eg starts off making a point but it's juxtaposed by a lot of stuff about taking drugs in a retreat, and comes across slightly barking, but there we go
Safe to say GLineker has chosen his team!
