He’s trying to push Lisa Nandy as to whether any man can self identify and compete in woman’s sports. He’s actually trying to talk some sense and saying it’s unfair to woman’s rights. Making really good points about trans rights overriding woman’s rights.
She will not give a straight answer to anything.

I wish it was just the young 'uns but I am surrounded by people aged 30+ who buy into Self ID and the freedom people should have to live their lives how they choose. Anything else is not #bekind and is just bigotry. Voicing concerns is bigotry and being obsessed with other people's genitals

This may sound daft, but I wonder how much subliminal influence the film 'The Greatest Showman' has had on the younger generation. I watched it on DVD last year and was genuinely shocked at how a man who had set up an enterprise cruelly exploiting vulnerable people for personal gain had been Disneyfied and turned into some sort of progressive hero. My daughter (30s and GC) was absolutely astonished at my negative reaction, telling me that it is used extensively in schools as an example of the freedom people should have to live their lives how they choose.

Mumsnet CEO Justine Roberts squeals that

Oh gawd how does India believe writing crap like this will get anyone on their side? Gross to compare her voice to that of a squealing pig.

R0wantrees · 11/03/2020 00:59

Yes it's bizarre to find Piers Morgan as a crucial (because influential and vocal) ally. His support is as much to do with the insult to intelligence of this 'debate' as it is to do with supporting women.

Piers Morgan fully supports that India Willoughby, Caitlin Jenner etc have all become women through a 'transition' process.

India Willoughby: Britain’s rampant transphobia has me worried for my life
APRIL 24, 2018
(extract)
I defy anyone to visit Mumsnet right now, look up transgender, and tell me that the vicious and mocking threads about trans people would be allowed about any other demographic. It’s the stuff of pitchforks and lanterns. The same rhetoric about race, religion on sexuality would lead to prosecutions and official condemnation.

Mumsnet CEO Justine Roberts squeals that trans people highlighting the content – including threads which out trans people – to some of the site’s main advertisers is out of order. She describes it as an attack on free speech. This might be a shock to Justine, but trans people have free speech, too.

There’s even a debate about introducing a new trans Section 28, clamping down on educating the public about what transgender is.

Justine is adamant there’s nothing transphobic on Mumsnet. Only reasoned debate. She wants transgender visitors to Mumsnet to be “happy and supported.” It feels reminiscent of when Cruella de Vil opens a home for stray dogs in 101 Dalmatians.

As I say, take a look for yourself. Trans groups are more than happy to debate any subject Justine or her murky corner of the web wants – but the material on the site isn’t a discussion. It’s vicious, nasty persecution

Mumsnet’s reputation for transphobia is fully deserved. Hardliners openly strategise ways to make life tougher for trans people: Passengers warned not to travel on sleeper trains because they might end up in the same sleeping berth as a woman who’s trans. Support gathered to stop trans women being allowed on Labour’s all-women shortlists. National meeting organised where they can clap and cheer their hatred.

It’s all very similar to the way the National Front used to operate." (continues)

I've just watched it. And …. I have no words.

Is anybody really suggesting that that fucking stupid woman could be the leader of one of the country's major political parties? It's April Fool come early, isn't it? Either that or a very bad dream.

She couldn't run a bath, let alone the Labour Party. What, in the name of all that's holy, makes her any sort of candidate?

lanadelgrey · 10/03/2020 23:51

Did any one think she looked like a school kid trying to deny the bleeding obvious to the headteacher?

Ash20 · 10/03/2020 23:36

Lisa on the surface was potentially a labour leader who could have won the next election. However today her need not to answer the question and try to make pm look like a bully. Confirmed to me that lisa is not the type of leader i would follow because she has no conviction to tell it as it is in fear of losing votes. I for one would not vote for her. That from someone who has been a life long labour voter second generation in.

Voice0fReason · 10/03/2020 23:31

She was truly awful. It was embarrassing to watch.

GeordieTerf · 10/03/2020 23:16

The two journalists sat next to Nandy looked like they were ready to burst into laughter Grin

Binterested · 10/03/2020 23:15

Kevin Maguire is a bit shifty in all this isn’t he? He knows fine well it’s all absolutely bollocks - as do Mirror readers. But he wants to keep his leftie blokey credentials so he sits on that sofa and wriggles uncomfortably.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 10/03/2020 23:10

My thanks to the link witches Wine

LN looked properly terrified; did she understand she was throwing her career away? Confused

PM May be a bully & many other things but so delighted he is bringing more sunshine. Boxers & weightlifters he knows exactly how to get a reaction from the public. AND LN wasn’t allowed to get away with using intersex to muddy the issue Star

theflushedzebra · 10/03/2020 22:40

Thanks LittleRootie, explains the rational "there are only two - boy or girl!" response, that seemingly British politicians think is unsayable now.

LittleRootie · 10/03/2020 22:31

I've only seen the 9 min clip, the two men were journalists - Andrew Pierce (daily mail) and Kevin Maguire (mirror).

theflushedzebra · 10/03/2020 22:14

I meant to say as well, well done to Susanna, who stopped the sporting debate turning into an intersex debate about Castor Semenya.

Does anyone know who the two guys with her were?

The one on the far left (ha!) said about the babies and biological sex thing "well it's a boy or a girl" - and Lisa Nandy didn't say anything. Weird that he could state it so plainly, and Nandy couldn't.

PreseaCombatir · 10/03/2020 21:46

It’s clear she doesn’t give a shit about women, which makes me even angrier that she keeps talking about women in shelters. Abused women are nothing more than a point in her scoresheet. She makes me sick

LittleRootie · 10/03/2020 20:58

Yes it's bizarre to find Piers Morgan as a crucial (because influential and vocal) ally. His support is as much to do with the insult to intelligence of this 'debate' as it is to do with supporting women.

I just can't fathom what is going on the minds of people like Nandy, sitting there and talking total garbage about trans while also claiming to occupy the moral high ground in defending Women's rights. It's totally sickening.

theflushedzebra · 10/03/2020 20:56

The great Assigner could be like the Hogwarts sorting hat. Grin

theflushedzebra · 10/03/2020 20:54

www.itv.com/hub/good-morning-britain/2a3211a2739

You can watch the whole thing here from 1hr 30-ish but you do have sit through adverts.

theflushedzebra · 10/03/2020 20:53

The 9 min clip doesn't show he argument continuing well into when they's normally go to commercials. It's unreal Shock There's real vitriol there, DH and I were listening with our jaws on the floor.

James Kirkup, on R4 Any Questions last week answered a question on Labour & Momentum, and said he missed he the old says when prospective candidates actually tried to appeal to voters, and be nice to them - rather than leaving the impression you disagree with me, therefore you are a bad person.

Never has there been a more solid example of this.

Redshoeblueshoe · 10/03/2020 20:53

I'm so glad baby Namdy had a wristband, otherwise how else would they known what sex it is.

I wonder if I should apply for a job as Assigner ?
Sounds like fun.
I could really mix things up a bit

musicposy · 10/03/2020 20:41

I think interviewers etc need to go hard on the "assigned sex at birth" bollocks. Because it's basically coming from a crazy paranoid conspiracy theorist pov

Totally agree. It was ridiculous, all that wittering on about being given a wristband. Have we really got to a point where we can’t say a baby is born male or female? Where all the science counts for nothing?

I think many people will have had no idea it’s got like this and this will hopefully have been good at letting people see what is going on. I really didn’t ever expect to be so on the side of Piers Morgan!

The sad thing is I (like many others, I’m sure) used to vote labour. But they have utterly thrown women under the bus. There’s just no way now. They haven’t learnt at all from the last election.

OP posts:
LynnSchmob · 10/03/2020 20:29

I wonder how the good people of Wigan feel about having this utter muppet representing them?

GeordieTerf · 10/03/2020 20:28

How mental is it that loudmouth obnoxious men such as Piers Morgan are the only people in the media sticking up for women's rights?

littlbrowndog · 10/03/2020 20:03

Mean jeez

When men are sexually assaulting women in women’s jails

Seems like she gives no fucks about them

Italiangreyhound · 10/03/2020 19:56

Hilarious. Peirs Morgan asks Lisa Nandy if she is still identifying as a woman. She doesn't answer but shakes her head!

She has just lost the plot.

Angryresister · 10/03/2020 19:17

It’s even worse than we think and this is supposed to be a potential leader? Never again will millions of us actual women be able to vote Labour .
